  1. The teams form towards end of the season was pretty good really, most of the damage happened before we signed most of these players towards end of January. I would welcome Grant or Long back but I would rather we signed players rather than loan players and develop an other teams player.
  2. I expected struggling last year and this year finishing 5th or 6th. But with good cup runs and outside chance of silverware. Surely we are due a good cup run.
  3. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33312663 Looks like it's all about agreeing terms now.
  4. Mackin will possibly be cover up front as well so that maybe it for forwards at the moment. Good luck to Fletcher. Looks like the type of player we should be signing.
  5. I love this forum, most of last season there were complaints aplenty that Sutton should be shown the door and McCall had made a terrible error in not signing Clarkson. Fast forward a few months now many are lamenting Suttons move to Perth and questioning how we will cope without him and now shocked that we are resorting to signing Clarkson. From my point of view, I think Clarkson will be a good value signing probably on a lot less wage than Sutton and offering much the same in terms of quality. I'm sure the new scouting network has unearthed a few possible gems and I for one am excited for the season ahead.
  6. Yes I'm sure he followed McGhee the last time Jim Leighton got the sack.
  7. You would like to think that he gave Motherwell some advance knowledge that he was moving and the club will have a contingency plan to deal with it.
  8. Love the mock up, and I have been hoping on the return of the sash for a few years.
  9. Definitely buy at least 1. Although I could buy a few more as presents for a few Rangers supporting mates.

    Rangers

The team were fantastic it was one of these games where every few minutes I was thinking a different player for Man of the Match. but for me Pearson was immense, and when he went off they started winning the midfield battle.
  11. If it's 3 man midfield I would have Lasley sitting behind Grant and Pearson and have Johnson and Ainsworth on the flanks with Skippy up front.
  12. Any player would be a mug for moving to Sevco. They still don't know who their manager will be next year, what league they will be in. Their board have an Extraordinary General Meeting every month, they are still living a hand to mouth existence and are only a few bad results away from administration, they have share issue after share issue to raise capital just to blow it. Why would anyone want to get involved and be employed by an company that has been and is so badly run.
  13. He has been awful at United and I didn't think he offered that much when he was at Fir Park.
  14. I agree if his wages weren't too much players like Thomas/Johnson would benefit from training with him everyday.
  15. The difference in Championship gate prices isn't vastly different from Premiership the only quibble is less games.
  16. Agree pretty much with that. Also it was Marshall who decided on the keepers to sign during McCalls time.
  17. Tactics as well can be blamed. Away from home we could have played with 3 men in centre of midfield made ourselves harder to beat. Quite a few times since Baraclough took charge we've gone away with 3 or 4 recognised forwards in the team then we haven't had enough of the ball to make any impact and with our porous defence leaking goals it's been a recipe for some heavy defeats.

    Baraclough Out

At the time he was quoted we still had a chance of avoiding playoffs, so no chairman is going to publicly doubt his managers future, I imagine things may change IF we end up in the championship.

    Baraclough Out

My problem with Baraclough is his failure to adapt tactics. Doesn't matter the opposition or our own display even home and away it's all predictable and if we can see it opposition managers see it quicker, hence the two teams we recently hammered at home completely nullified our attack in return fixtures a few weeks later.
  20. If I'm right in saying due to the levy been paid to SPFL but Motherwell having to still cover costs then any money raised from tie will be minimal so I would give whoever we play minimal amount of tickets to save on police costs and extra stewarding.
  21. For most of this season the general chain of thought in the media and even amongst Motherwell fans was that 11th place was more or less automatic relegation as whoever came up in playoff from championship will walk the tie. So perversely for the first time in months pressure is off the team and we are regarded rightly or wrongly as the underdogs. I'm not sure it will make much of a difference to the mentality of the team but may help.
  22. I'm not here to have a go at Erwin and I hope we can hold onto him, however I do think Sutton McDonald partnership would have caused opposition defences more problems also when Johnson and Ainsworth were whipping crosses into the box Sutton would have made more of these opportunities than Erwin.
  23. I thought Pearson had a great game, does a lot of the unglamorous work in midfield. Those that don't acknowledge that should think back to how poor the midfield was before Pearson signed.
  24. With hindsight a draw from Firhill and New Douglas Park wouldn't have been a bad result either.
