  1. Dear GodSomeone get to Gordon the Killie Blogger and take his belt, tie and laces off him...
  2. Ian Black???????FFS- tell me that's a wind-up
  3. First team squad- 20 players? On 2.5 weekly per man= £2.6 million annual wage bill- plus the U20s and staff etc. with pitifully small TV revenue and maybe 4500 typical home attendance- I find that a bit unlikely unless Les has got incredibly deep pockets- which, by implication , would mean one monster of a debt to be repaid to him. I really have no idea what the wage structure looks like but I would hazard a guess at a VERY small group of players on the kind of money being quoted with the vast majority on a fraction of it.
  4. Grant just didn't look competitive enough for a central berth. I know he was used repeatedly wide right, which didn't help but I would neither see him as a ball winner nor a box to box player.
  5. MCDonald tried to play passes from midfield but just wasn't on the same wavelength as Thomas and Moult in front of him, needs workMarv needs to watch Thomas and see a player champing at the bit to get on the ball and take players on, I suppose that's Baracloughs idea, have two guys competing for each position .
  6. Not for me - off by a yard at release of skippys pass. He was trying to pick that pass all day to put Thomas in. Thomas kept sitting wide and not making the inside run, a work in progress though. Passing was a bit off all over today. Big Kennedy played well defensively , distribution was "agricultural" - he'll learn too Big Clubber on at right back??? Enjoyed his surging runs on the flank, classic centre back mazy - pass the ball to their winger- cement him in a challenge, pass the ball to their full back- cement him in a challenge. Like a runaway Chieftan Tank - entertainingly funny Robinson clearly not up to speed, as expected after signing late Friday. Looked pacy, but seemed to have little idea when faced up by a defender, just stared down at the ball as of an idea would come to him eventually. Very early days, I'm sure he'll come good after two weeks training over the international break.
  7. Great to see Dom Thomas start Moult worked his socks off Ainsworth drifted in and out Leitch didn't do too badly at all Skippy put in a shift but his passing was poor Chalmers was solid and is quite composed on the ball Kennedy is a raw laddie who has next to no passing ability Law wasn't the worst and was aided by Lasley and Ainsworth for a change We didn't work their keeper enough and we were saved by one top drawer first half Ripley save Still three points will cheer up aSaturday nicely Much work to be done though Oh , and Taylor didn't put a foot wrong today, much better than he was last week
  8. Transfer strategy To acquire players on deals long enough to allow them to be sold at a profit as their values increase- earning vast transfer fees from the ones who turn out to be Gareth Bale-esque talent. But we need to reduce the odds - by having lots of players Roughly translates as" if we give enough monkeys a typewriter, surely there's bound to be one Shakespeare..." Is it me or does this sound a tad risky?
  9. Maybe Bara is trying to emulate the legend that was Ian St John. If my memory serves me right he commanded a truly massive squad in his spell as boss at FP
  10. At least he would be expected to pay his own fare
  11. A plethora of strikers, curious imbalance of assets isn't it? I would hazard a guess that Fletcher is out for the foreseeable, or he's been sleeping with the physios wife( copyright Tommy Docherty Man Utd 1976) and Clarky may have to work his socks of to even get to warm the bench. I would leave Big Marv out, patchy would be a flattering description of his new season form , no room for passengers in our current position . Speaking of which"Taxi for Law, please"
  12. They could only dream about being a Davide Ferrère
  13. He was a budding talent til the day he hung up his boots. Same as Ferguson, a side to side shuffling five yard passer who never to a step away from a club that was a gigantic fish in a tiny bowl.Bitter? Me , guilty as charged
  14. Not for me I'm afraid , whingeing imposter , surrounded by the glitterati of the time while playing clubs worth a minuscule fraction of his. If I sound bitter , and antiOF- well spotted . Natural consequence of a lifetime living amongst them.
  15. Aye , Barry Him and McStay- Kings of running round the centre circle , jabbing five yard passes square or backwards. Pair of crabs- side to side merchants lauded to the heavens, courtesy of wearing OF colours.
  16. Mind you, those very attributes didn't stop McStay and Ferguson from being centre mid impostors throughout their careers...
  17. I can remember watching Nevin playing against us at Shawfield and looking on a higher level And Gordon Strachan as a stand out for a relegated Dundee And McCoist shining at Muirton Park Ever feel old? Clyde defeat - jock Wallace is my guess. Big diddy successfully dismantled Davey Hays magnificent Div 1 winning side- what a season, I was at every game home and away. Magical memories
  18. Pity the fool that didn't know that... I never claimed to be the banter king . But tell me his robust approach to challenges isn't a bit "Clubber"?
  19. Works for me Only other thought is maybe Clubber might be worth starting up against Kris Boyd, he did fine in the 6-1 . Kennedy at right back instead of Watt, on the basis Watt may not be back to full fitness Moult an absolute stick- on, mystified why so many people have an apparent aversion to a guy with a prodigious work rate, an ability to finish calmly , and who tries to bring others into play- I mean , why would we want that ??
  20. So, by inference,Law is suffering from a lack of cover from his winger- both Johnson and Ainsworth in turns last night. Hardly a surprise to question wide men's defensive work ethic though. As I have already said , the two of them shouldn't start together. We need to build from a solid base, Johnson in particular seems to be a rather fragile big lad, cannot see 38 starts from him, not a chance. Needs used selectively, hopefully with a devastating run of form as the season ends and a queue of suitors waiting to fill our coffers . On his day he's electric and in bursts almost unplayable, sadly his day isn't nearly regular enough for our needs right nowAs for Law, I actually thought he grew into the fullback role last season, much like Tom Hately did ( when he accepted his berth was in at right back rather than the Del Piero midfield libero) Gone astray so far sadly.
  21. Just had a flashback Gordon "Soapy" Soutar Now there was a combative midfield presence, built like a double wardrobe- a proper enforcer In the Graeme "psycho" Forbes mould
  22. Is Marvin carrying some sort of after effects of an injury or something Shows the odd burst of pace, but looks laboured most of the time. I wouldn't start him v Killie, give Thomas a run out instead
  23. Frightened and Clueless? Was that last nights midfield pairing ? They linked well with Hopeless at the back...Cringeworthy stuff but we have bottled out of many games like this in recent seasons. On to Saturday, Killie humped Bereick last night. Hopefully that and our performance lights a rocket up a few arses
