  1. Would love to see us beat Ra Sellick in a claret hoop but I'll be happy with a late mad breenge from King Ced in his pyjamas and a 25-yard winner off the underside of the bar in the 89' minute. Then he signs for PSG for £2,000,000.
  2. Just so. Like almost everyone here, I don't like Kick 'n' Rush and we rarely see the C&A version but our players have a tremendous team spirit which comes from the manager. I'm sure he felt he was just building a team to scrap and survive this year and that he could gradually add the fantoosh frills later. We've had much better football teams in the past, from the Ancell Babes on, who won absolutely nothing. Result: "many heartaches". This XI is super fit and tough and never give in and we may have some footballing surprises up our sleeve when we play The All-Conquering Ones/Sons of The Saint. The team will be prepared in a highly professional way and if we can get the first goal, who knows? Behind the smirk and Perma-tan, Brendan may be secretly worried that our organisation and commitment can derail The Great Sellick Dream. Imagine an upstart "physical" wee Diddy Team doing that: the stuff of his nightmares.
  3. We can play a lot more football than we showed today, but there was tremendous team spirit. If only we could just calm our jets before launching it forward, the game would open up for us. Still, let The Uglies underestimate us. Don't know whether to call Curtis The Shark, The Beast or The Pocket Battleship. What a horror to have to play against. I would suggest Sellick would be particularly vulnerable. It will be great to release our Inner Barcelona in the final and beat the surviving Non-Scottish Club. Cue meltdown by "Scottish Sports Journalists".
  4. Thanks for that, Kat. A proper Motherwell strip, yon. *Wipes away a silent tear*
  5. I suspect that is true, which makes his loss even more disappointing. Bigi seems capable of providing some unlocking passes but he is also likely to lose possession or dwell too long on the ball and then we are vulnerable to a counter attack. It's strange that he was SR's first signing and yet he doesn't seem keen on him now. This may be his last chance to impress.
  6. Yup, and both Dingwall butchers have good black pudding. These things are important culturally.
  7. Don't we have El Taito to do that kind of thing?
  8. And he can't tackle. Tackling's so important for an "out-and-out winger".
  9. Right on time, Clackscat, eh? Yodo: read what I actually said, not what you wanted me to say. Who's "us", by the way? And if Weir and Cooper had been asked, from your time machine, to do this, could they have done it? Who would have been daft enough to ask such a role of two hugely-talented Scottish internationalists? Frear is a moderately-gifted winger you seem to have a problem with, for some reason. Along with Tanner and Bigi he is the only creative outlet for the team at the moment. Tanner is injured and Bigi is not a first pick. Frear, when fit, is first-pick for most games, as tactics require. Take your complaint up with the manager. I agree with him on this point. Given our limited budget and squad at the moment, he is a valuable tactical alternative.
  10. Well, if not being able to tackle is a weakness in that position then clearly Andy Weir, Davie Cooper and a host of other 'Well wingers I've seen would be duds in your book. If he's an out and out winger as you say then he is obviously the most dependent on good service and I hope you would agree that he often simply doesn't get it. Tanner is out for the medium term, Bigi does not seem to be trusted by SR and linking play up the left isn't great from defence so I think we should cut Frear some slack. Hoofball is a limited tactic. Quote
  11. Weeyin and Joeboy seem to have some knowledge of football whereas your relentless negativity suggests you're just here to troll the team. Dunne is excellent defensively but his service to Frear (when he has been fit and selected) is not great. The latter needs balls to run on to, not passes when he is almost stationary and has two hulking defenders in front of him, squeezing him out to the line, but Charles can't pass like Stevie Hammell, who latterly was weaker defensively. Calling a player feart in these circumstances is just a cheap shot. Weeyin's point: "Encourages players to pass to him rather than punt it long to Main" is a very important reason for playing him. We are one-dimensional without him, given Bigi seems out of favour with the boss.
  12. Hope Charles Dunne is back. His physical strength and speed were badly missed against A______n and SH looked very lightweight by comparison. I can't imagine this game will be a feast of football but SR said there would be changes, though not as many as he would like because of the size of our squad. I predict some tough training today. I'll take a Murray Davidson OG in the last minute to win.
  13. The Davies "tackle" was indefensible but there may have been memories of Brown's shocker on Alex Schalk last season. Personally, I think Stuart "Wee Barra" McLaren would have been the best candidate to deal out some quiet, proportionate retribution to Sellick's Swaggering Clown, although Peter usually kept Kenny Dalglish pretty quiet. Meanwhile, in other news, Michael Stewart explainerises to us on Sportsound tonight that Brown is not protected by the referees. *Rubs chin, muses thereon*
  14. We scored two today, actually. Bad referring decisions can change games, just like today, and our last two games against Sellick at FP.
  15. The pundits, headed by Michael Stewart, are pretty clear it wasn't a penalty. Did anyone in the Cooper see Dunne's "handling" in the first half? I felt the ref. changed after half time and gave Rangers everything, perhaps after complaints at the interval about this incident, and the other shout when the ball came off Tait's side? I thought Curtis "The Shark/The Beast" Main really shook up the opposition and made the second goal, taken beautifully by Campbell. Biggest disappointment was Murphy's trademark "drift in from the left, hit it across the 'keeper with the right" equaliser, like we've never seen that before. For those who care about such matters at least he wasn't booed.....
  16. Ross Mathie scored near the end with a diving header at the Taggart's end as I recall. I was totally gutted. There was quite a lot of bottle throwing and fighting going on during the game which I didn't tell my parents about. FP was packed.
  17. Darryl Broadfoot, SFA Communications Officer (*hides all breakable objects*) was speaking about the Kipre/Brown Incident on Sportsound last night and even he was surprisingly dismissive of Thomson's decision, saying "violent conduct" simply wouldn't wash. All the other guests agreed that the sending off simply shouldn't have happened. For all that, I'm still not convinced the panel will do the right thing. Will Thomson be hung out to dry by the authorities? Hmmmmmmmmm........
  18. Happy to say I'm still confused. Will have to think carefully: so many candidates today. Makes last week inexplicable, apart from the abomination of a pitch.
  19. When Tait was remonstrating with Broon after the incident, the latter did a stamping motion as justification for the sending off. I don't buy the studs up theory and the tackle happened in front of me in the POD. There will be desperate attempts by some in the media to obfuscate but a surprising number of them seem to have been critical of the decision. As usual with these controversial decisions against The Ugly Sisters, you have to ask yourself, had the roles been reversed, would the Celtic player have been sent off? Kinda sums up Scottish football for me at the moment. Just waiting for Robinson being cited for his comment to Chic Young when asked if he thought we should have had a penalty in the second half. Words to the effect of, "I haven't seen it back on video but I know we wouldn't have got it."
  20. Another game completely spoiled by Thomson. I thought we were playing well up both wings before Kipre's sending off. Main's chest-down to Ryan Bowman in the first half would have resulted in a goal if Ryan had put it either side of Bain. Every man a hero today but special mentions to Carson for his last-minute save and Curtis for giving Celtic's defence a tough time: he was a great out-ball and ran his guts out. Brendan continues to show himself up in the PM interviews: bizarre comment about the pitch and the usual sly attack on one of our players. His mention of Main's "physicality" was a nice little seed banked for the next game with them. And Celtic played so well adjusting to playing 10 men: unbelievable! Brown is a strutting buffoon who dishes it out but whines when he is tackled hard. Absolutely no respect for either of them.
  21. I'm already getting worried we might over-celebrate our goals and upset Mr Rodgers and the super-sensitive Scott Brown. We can be so unthinking sometimes.
  22. Loved some of the "robust" tackling, e.g. McDicken and McLaughlin, without folk rolling around in feigned agony. A very quick hammer and tongs match with The Incredible Rubber Man at number 3. Enjoyed being able to switch ends in those days: not so much dodging the flying Guinness flagons at some of the Hearts games when things got towsy. When you think of that now it was very dangerous.
  23. How long will it take holier-than-thou Brendan to express concern about his physicality? It would just be like us to beat them after Saturday's shambles. I hate going to FP when either of The Ugly Sisters come to call but will travel in hope, since, as you say, Sellick's defence has weaknesses. Main's strength and aggression will have been noticed, though, so expect lots of lovely simulation from them. I won't even bother mentioning refereeing standards.....
  24. Most annoying to be beaten by Panathonaccies' 2nd XI after last week's euphoria. The only concession I would have made for this potential shitfest would have been to play Main and Bowman up front with Tanner in behind and let battle commence. I suppose Robinson is inexperienced as a manager, unlike Clarke, but as long as he learns from this dreadful performance, all may not be lost. I thought we had got The McGhee Tinkerman performances out of our system but this brings back terrible memories. Trying to match Accies like this is like trying to wrestle a pig: you end up getting covered in shit but the pig really enjoys it all.
  25. Quite, and if he persists in playing one up then it's a mystery why Louis was signed at all. I don't remember him playing well in that role with us and you would have thought their scout would have twigged that. He's not really tall or strong enough for that position, especially with the Honey Monster defenders you get in the Championship.
