  1. We have in players like White, Watt, Main, Danny Johnstone, Shields and I’m sure we’re still looking for the next one but on our wages it must be a nightmare. I can pretty much guarantee we’ve offered a few players a contract to join us and the’ve chosen to go elsewhere. If it’s that easy to sign a proven goalscorer why has every club in the top flight not got one ? White went to Ross County, Main to Aberdeen then St Mirren, Johnstone to Dundee. All players rated as not good enough while with us. Shields is on a 3 year contract and he’s going to need more game time unless we’re already giving up on him which would be a huge waste of money. End of the day though we get one or two poor results and we then get the usual over reaction, we’ve suddenly become an awful team with hardly a decent player at the club. We’re 4th in the league and have had a very successful last 12 months, it’s Motherwell and even as someone that’s not supported the club for decades I believe it’s always been one step forward and one back. If we could suddenly double the home support I’m sure we could sign more consistent players and maybe retain the good one for a while longer but the reality is with have a core home support of 4000 and until that changes we will keep losing the likes of Watt to clubs paying more money.
  2. The way you worded your post suggests you think we would.
  3. The last 3 games are partly down to Alexander in my view, but he’s done very well overall and I would expect him to learn and bounce back.
  4. McGinley costs us points even when he’s not playing.
  5. On our budget signing a prolific striker is next to impossible, none league teams down south are paying bigger wages. We’ve taken punts on plenty of central strikers since Moult left but it’s always going to be nothing more than that, Moult was just a bit of good luck but even he took a while to settle in.
  6. I would bite your hand off for a point but as much as Alexander is talking up the performances we’re not playing even close to well enough to come away with anything.
  7. I would imagine a percentage of the support will be quite happy. He was never really rated by many.
  8. Really ? I think it’s just about the only one bringing anything just now. His delivery, assists, work rate, the ability to pass a ball.
  9. Not a great game, I thought Alexander played up our performance but the conditions played a part as they were always going to do. The defence as a whole played well but midfield is still a mistake, I take it Slattery is not fully fit. Tierney needs time which is fair enough but I still don’t get why Shaw is still playing a bit part unless it’s again due to a lack of fitness. As above we desperately need another striker, Watt is badly missed. One player who is just getting better and better though is Goss, he’s gone from being really ineffective to a crucial player that will start interesting other clubs if he continues the way he’s going.
  10. That’s entirely down to hanging on for a point
  11. Just the wrong midfield again for me I’m afraid, only Goss is really effective
  12. Not really sure why Alexander was that outraged
  13. One that could have gone either way but Pretty stupid by Donnelly
  14. I’m expecting an improvement after Slattery comes on
  15. I think though he has to be judged on his performance tonight which has been very good for me. If he’s going to take stick after that first half he might as well leave now because he’s got no chance.
  16. What’s McGinley done wrong tonight ? I think he’s had a pretty decent first half.
  17. The same 3 in midfield that’s been awful the last 2 games ? Not for me.
  18. Of the two I would always start Donnelly, he still brings more to the party.
  19. Van Veen turned the game on its head, I very much doubt we were winning that without him. Votes for McGuire ? Quite surprised but it’s all about opinions.
  20. I’de be extremely surprised if we don’t sign another striker given Watt has gone and Van Veen rarely has a run of games. We’re surely not relying on the front three that started yesterday.
  21. The midfield was the problem again for me until Slattery came on.
  22. I baffled with Shaw. He’s joined us from Celtic in order to games in yet seems to be totally ignored, why have we even taken him ?
  23. No, he scored a great goal but other than that I thought he was poor. Little movement and energy with poor distribution. I’m not sure what Alexander was looking at given her was far and away the weakest of the three midfielders on the day.
  24. It was interesting to see their manager state they were the better team. While it’s not uncommon to see that from managers I thought that was taking it to the extreme.
