Perhaps but all of those were injured/had been through serious injury problems when we signed them and with the exception of Faddy for the first few months none of them made any impact for us and spent the majority of their returns out injured.

We cannot afford to gamble on players we know are injured right now. I appreciate that every signing we make is a gamble but we could at least try to stack the odds in our favour by steering clear of players who have been lying on the treatment table for the past six months.

Ok no problem, Scott is probably not even on our radar, I simply think he does have attributes based on his time with us and he is still young, certainly a better option than many who have been signed in my view.

I'm not knocking robinson at all,he's the only my manager that has got something out of scott so far,so it wouldn't be surprise to see them work together again.irwin and Scott are very similar in terms of when they left us,both got good moves down south and neither kicked on,scott may well kick on but I just don't see it.

    Ok fair enough

“If Faddy is fit, not the worst move.”

”If McCormack is fit, not the worst move.”

”If Moult is fit, not the worst move.”

”If Aarons is fit, not the worst move”.

If we bring in yet another ex player who has spent the best part of the last year out injured then we will officially become a full blown parody of ourselves.

I would argue you’re comparing apples and pears with most of those names.

Exactly, there's no reason to be bringing the likes of scott back,he looked miles off it for Hibs and has done next to nothing since he left us.i can see his career following a similar path to lee Irwin,i wouldn't be surprised if he end up in paisley with robinson.

So not right for us but ok for a team 5th in the league ? IF fit he showed plenty of qualities when with us and he’s still young. I would not put him in the same category as players years older that are never fit. I know it’s easy to knock Robinson but he took players who got slated on here and he’s hardly struggling the way we are.

Would surprise me in the slightest to see James Scott back this month, injury or not. 🙄

A nice wee video for social media of him gazing at the empty swing park in the Duchess Park as his hair blows in the wind to welcome him back….then in the next pre-match press conference SH will tell us that he’s just trying to shake off a wee niggle and he’s hopeful he’ll be available before the end of the season.

If Scott is fit, not the worst move.

Didn't think yesterday was as bad as the consensus on here suggests.

Lamie and Sol I felt were in control.

Goss and Slattery were doing OK and van veen if less greedy and bit luckier could have won it for us.

Now some of the above might be down to Livi not having nouble. Holt or pitman available but even so we were the better team imo.

What will be consensus if we win next 2 games plus progress in scottish cup? All very achievable in my view.

It will not mean Hammell has fixed everything but it will certainly quell the negativity.

We need to support the team and our manager and remember all this talk of an experienced manager will grind it out etc and think of Tommy Wright who a lot on here were wanting previously.

If we win the next two games things will look very different and Hammell will be in a far more comfortable position for sure

Not heard anybody saying Hammell has not made mistakes. And not heard anybody saying it’s all Alexander’s fault either. What I am hearing is the usual Alexander supporters attacking Hammell at every turn in what looks like an effort to prove their irrational, continued support of Alexander was justified. Just read the comments during todays game.

Of course Hammell will be judged on his record. That’s fair enough. Some fans just think he needs leeway, time and patience to address the shitfest he inherited. And he will make mistakes. As most people readily stated when he was appointed. And the same would apply to whoever had been appointed, ex player or not.
We are not even three days into his first window and folk are slating him for not bringing in the six players we apparently need on the 1st of January. In any event, how many he can recruit is down to other factors outwith his control…...like available cash, Board support, suitable players being fit and available and those players wanting to join up. His comments regarding numbers coming in sounded to me like he was being realistic given these factors rather than his preference.
I prefer to support him a bit longer rather than turn on him first chance I get.

I don’t actually remember Alexander having any supporters on here, maybe I’m wrong but my recollection is he was pretty unpopular for the style of play, his feedback and personality in general. For my part I’m simply stating things in general look to be going backwards not forwards and he needs to do better with the players we have if we are to stay up. Even after the window I’d be very surprised if we don’t still have seven of the outfield ten from the squad we have now. I do think the next two games are crucial and I think he recognises that himself.

The question I have is why above average players like Watt and O'Hara ...to a lesser degree Donnelly.....wanted to leave in the first place. In my opinion that was down to Alexander and the way they they were unfairly treated/ignored. For a time Slattery was in the same boat. I don't believe for a second it was about the cash which is the reason often put forward on here. Bottom line is that Alexander did not want them. It was a choice, however, that he was entitled to make.

But that is the same Alexander who believed Shields and Efford were the answer to Watt leaving and that his old pal Morris was an upgrade on O'Hara for this season. Watt and O'Hara would walk into the current team. So what does that say about Alexander's judgement.

Hammell may or may not be the man to move us forward and early indications are not that positive. But it is not down to Hammell that decent players and most peoples' first choices like Kelly, Lamie, McGinn, KVV regularly forget the basics, have brain farts and cost us matches. It is not down to Hammell that he has few other options player wise. He can only pish with the cock he has.   But anyone who believes we would be in a better position if Alexander had stayed is deluded. How quickly they forget what we were subjected to from January onwards and the way his reign ended.

The way this thread is going all that is missing is the Yorky and David  "Bring Back Graham" petition. Get over it lads, He's gone.

So much for the..".Hammell needs time to rebuild, give him two or three transfer windows, time to all pull together" chat. Fickle hardly covers it.

I’ve never actually rated Alexander that much, would not want him back, and as you rightly state “ get over it lads he’s gone”. Unfortunately at this rate I could see us midtable in the championship with people still stating it’s all Alexander’s fault. At the moment it seems nothing is Hammell fault, fitness, organisation, confidence gone, players like Kelly and Lamie going backwards. We could put the tea lady in charge and she would be safe from criticism. Sorry but at this stage we need to look at performances under this manager, not the last one. He has been in charge since August of last year.

Hartley's a free agent so no harm in asking him along to training for a week or two and if he's past it then say cheerio, no harm done. Same goes for Leigh Griffiths.

My heart says yes we get the old Hartley, my head says he’s now 34 and well past his best.

Yorky, youre not one for knee jerk reactions, so it's worrying when you say that

I’m not for sure but the stats tell there own story and something has to change. Of course if we win the next two games everything looks different, if we don’t we may be bottom and that’s a scary place to be. As I’ve said previously any new managers first job is to improve what he has at his disposal which has happened with us until Hammell, the players have actually got worse, even less organised, silly mistakes every game, confidence looks very low. The board certainly need to look at how they handled things and I have no idea if Alexander wanted out regardless but as Dave said the timing was awful. However taking that out of the equation we should not be struggling to the degree that we are in my view and if I could see improvements I would say let’s stick with what we have, I just don’t see any improvements.

Shouty players being good leaders is an old fashioned trope. We need players that are not shite, and preferably not slow. How they choose to communicate is way down the priority list.

On loan Peter Hartley was excellent, but post injury he was as bad as what we currently have now, and spent a season on the bench before taking it easy in the Indian league. Players that wear their hearts on their sleeves can be endearing to fans, but if we signed a unknown player with all Hartley's attributes and similar career path, this place would meltdown.

As bad as we've looked at the back, we have been in every single game this season, and I feel that our lack of cutting edge up front is our biggest problem. If we had taken a handful of our chances we wouldn't be as panicky as we are right now.   Having an actual threat up front would make it a lot harder for teams to throw everything at us in the latter stages.  Right now there is no risk to teams leaving themselves more open at the back.

If we don't sign a halfway competent striker, we're screwed.

I should maybe add I’m not stating we should look at trying to recruit Hartley simply that he was a leader on the park and for a long time organised the defence as needed. We have a lack of communication and that makes a huge difference especially for players that are not the quickest.

A few seasons ago, the off field baggage was the only reason that Leigh Griffiths might have ended up at a club like ours. Frankly given his performances at Dundee and Falkirk, they're no longer the main reasons you would be like 'No thanks'...

I also see some Well fans on social media suggesting we re-sign Peter Hartley. Assuming those are fans who have forgotten that by the end of his time at Fir Park that his powers were on the wane...?

Hartley was one thing we don’t have, a leader.

Yep, not writing the game off, just setting up much more defensively with Shields' pace upfront potentially for a counter-attack.

My personal opinion is KVV is the one striker we have that can spring a surprise, I’m afraid Shields is not up to the job against a top team, hope to be proven wrong though. Maybe KVV is injured.

  14. Things have certainly changed to a degree on the forum. When I joined a few years ago writing off games against the old firm was seen as one of the reasons we never win, a defeatist attitude. We’re now at the point where most people are just writing these games off, sadly me included. I’ve no idea what the thing is with Rangers but it is pretty depressing.

The only say Hammell potentially had was at the backend of the window, last minute panic mode after being beaten twice by an Irish League team. We were woefully under prepared for the start of the season and that’s in no way Hammell fault. Let’s at least give him one proper transfer window in January to try and bring in a couple of players that can make a difference. 4 players is possible in Jan but not a chance we’re signing 4 players that walk into the first 11, just don’t see us having the budget for that.

The problem is it’s then down to making the best of what we have and I’m afraid that’s just not happened. Either Hammell shows he can change that or the board need to make a decision before we get into a position we can’t get out of.
