completely agree. Watt, Carrol and S'OD just about get pass marks. Gallagher, Carson, Campbell, Donnelly , O'Hara are the players we're missing that would be first team picks. Bottom line we don't have 11 decent first team players.
-
bottom line is we need to work a damn site harder irrespective of formation or selection. from who we have available Kelly Magloiore Lamie McGinley Odonnell. Crawford Maguire Car roll Watt Long. Cole
-
Jock Brown for his optimism that at 0- 3 we might find a way back into the game.
-
I was just thinking about this . In our final 5 matches we'll need to scrap and fight for everything. Irrespective of talent I'd only back Kelly, Mugabi, Campbell, O'Hara, Grimmy, Watt to show any real fight. From the 826 players on our books that's a huge concern.

He'll be in the Scottish Championship in 3 months - sadly that's where we could be heading if not very careful
-
Formation really gets on my goat for the following obvious reasons. The front 3 - don't play well together. Long is a centre forward not a wide player so it doesn't work. 3 midfield players don't work with our current team for the can't pass or are slow. We get outfought /over run every game in midfield. We could play 3 -5 -2. and have 2 wing backs 4-4-2 Bottom line is If we keep playing the same formation its 1) easy for the opposition 2) madness to expect it to work This is stuff I'd expect a new manager to change and I'd certainly expect us to change formation mid game when getting humped - it's not good enough.
-
a 3-5-2 could work
-
sadly we're learning more about the one trick pony that GA is
-
can't blame the manager for the players we have but he needs to take accountability for the formation. 4-3-3 every week - we got away with it a couple of time but FFS it's crying out to shore up the midfield
-
Carrol - pish - out of position Polworth - not a man for a midfield 3 Crawford - can tackle but can't pass Maguire - slow Lamie/Magloire - not agressvie Forwards - don't have a chance -
-
how much f'ing time do we give them on the ball - this is the worst team Ive ever seen
-
frustrating that we can all see it - I'd rather play a 4-5-1 than this pish
-
every game we play looks like we have less players than the other team - we don't win enough 2nd balls and midfield is non existent
-
McCart looks like he's a chip of the old block - would be happy to see him at FP
-
agree - I'd drop watt into the hold today and link up with Polworth - keep Maguire and Crawford as the defensive side of midfield. At least we're going into the game with low expectations .
-
appreciate the personnel problems - but getting very frustrated with a 3 man midfield every week - up against a 4 man midfield
-
that made me smile '91 . I completely agree, weeks and weeks go by without us having a clue who these guys are and why they aren't in the squad. GA said he'd only bring in players better than what we had - total tosh - we went for a lucky bag approach and came up short.
-
Yes please - If that was a deal or no deal option I'd snap your hand off. I just hope for more highs than lows.
-
I need to drink from the same cup as you - hadn't crossed my mind we'd be anywhere close to top 6. Hope St Mirren win convincingly
-
Bowman put in effort but like weeyin said struggled at this level. 1 goal every 7 games.
-
I don't see how Campbell is anything like Polworth. Campbell is more defensively minded who isn't very good at passing/linking play. In all honesty his strengths are Polworths weaknesses and vice a versa. If they were one player we'd have an absolute gem who could play at a much higher level. In reality I don't think Campbell is likely to go to any top tier club.
-
completely agree about the 4 man midfield - which would include Lawless if fit. In reality Polworth could be decent in a 4 man midfield. What's not clear or well reported by the club is who's injured/why/expected return. Piss poor communication
-
we have 10 first team defenders on our books - if we need O'Hara to drop in there's something far far wrong. Lamie, McGinley, Magloire, Nolan are all defenders. Maguire was initially a centre back til he found to be too slow and Foley was also considered to be a defender come midfielder. We need IMO to stop playing 3 midfielders who all want to sit centrally and defend. Want to see at least 4 through the middle which might mean Polworth but also likes of Temple/Foley/Lawless.
-
before this block of 4 games I was hoping 9 points would be our reward. if we can beat both St J/St M we'll achieve it. There's something wrong with the mentality of our team - we don't have players who look that hungry. We get a few decent results and get very complacent v's an Accies team who won't almost every 2nd ball.
-
Issue with all three of the midfield is their first option is to turn backwards to pass to a man - rarely do they make a forward pass and it gives the opposition far too much time to get into position. Polworth has many flaws but at least he's a forward thinking player
