Clueless. Contracts may work both ways - they certainly don’t in the way you describe.
Are you Shields’s agent?

That’s creative?
Point (a) is at odds with your ‘suggesting we pay off the duds early’ statement for starters…
As I noted, it is one example of being 'creative'. And point (a) isn't at odds with that statement if the player opts to join another club (thus end their contract early and sign a new one elsewhere) in order to get game time. Either that, or they sit still and earn for a year and then have no one interested in them at the end of that contract because they've sat around for a year and played with only the boys team. It's in a youngish players interests to be on the park for exposure, not sitting stealing a wage at an average club for a year or so. Contracts work both ways.

That’ll sort out our teams ills that you mention?
It'll be a start. We simply cannot continue with the squad as full of deadwood as it currently is. There are creative ways to offload players under contract. For example, tell them they won't get another game, then (a) they go to their agent to get a move for them before they vanish into obscurity and won't get a new deal anywhere else because they're out of the shop window, or (b) they actually learn how to not be shite and start contributing. I am certainly not suggesting we pay off the duds early, because that is stupid and not sustainable for us. GA has crippled us in that sense.

Not taking this post in isolation, but, maybe best understanding how player transfers work?
Fully understand, and suggest aboard a rocket into the moon.

Getting Penney on a permanent contract would be a great piece of business. He is a massive upgrade on Carroll and McGinley. Cant help think there will be suitors with more cash than us to offer him. But you gotta be in it to win it........
Offload Shields, who is on a no doubt decent 3-year contract, to fund a deal for Penney? He has certainly demonstrated a greater attacking threat than Shields.

I would say first order of business is to extend Penny
It would be madness not to offer him a permanent deal for next season or at least extend his loan for the remainder of this season, but I imagine the former will depend on the situation with McGinley and Carroll and the latter on us offloading some deadwood in January. Fingers crossed.

If we are playing 3-5-2 why not play Sheilds throught the middle in his actual position? He has pace to burn and the one time we actually played him there he scored a sublime goal. Given that KVV likes to come deep and plays with his back to goal it would make more sense to play someone who will run beyond him than Tierney who would sit in the hole......
Unfortunately for Shields, he's been here for 1.3 seasons and continually shown us that he's not good enough for this level. That one 'sublime' goal does not make a premiership-level player. He has 1.7 seasons left to prove me wrong, unfortunately.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Aarons has returned to his parent club already.
The club announced this in the Efford injury update article.
‘Rolando Aarons is currently with his parent club’

We're shite, but they're shiter. That's it.

Morris and Maguire on!! FFS real match winning subs. Hammell has shat it. Trying bottle up the middle of the park and hang on to 1-0. That’s right out of the Alexander playbook!
While I agree, Hammy had no other options. Slattery was on a yellow and playing shite, and Spittal needed oxygen.

Slattery, Goss and Spittal are powderpuff. Maguire replacing Slattery will toughen the midfield, but any good will be undone by Morris.
-
We’re inviting them to equalise because we’re a team full of shitebags. We badly need a midfield enforcer to grab them all by the scruff and shake them into action.

Cornelius on for Shields
60 mins too late. We should dominate the midfield battle now and sneak a second.

Diving bastard.
Shields is terrible but he hurts us less than Tierney and at least offers a threat of getting in behind.
The difference between Shields and Tierney is that the former is 25 and shows zero signs of improving and the latter is 21 and looks likely to develop into a decent creative player.

Connor Shields. These stats are unacceptable for a premier league forward player who has played 1.3 of his 3 season deal. We can't afford to carry this type of deadwood into a third season, so we must offload him somehow and soon.

That utd keeper is absolute garbage,we should be testing him at every opportunity
Hammy should be telling them to pepper him with shots and crosses.

Shields isn't a footballer. He's a speedy muscle guy type you often see in the gym on a Saturday night doing dumbbell curls in front of a mirror.
Told you. He just missed an absolute sitter.

Big January transfer window required now, including firing Shields and Morris into the nearest bin. Aarons won’t be back, and Moult will likely only be a cameo performer at best now.

3-1 home win and Watt to be head-butted by a frustrated KVV.

Alexander is responsible for assembling what is without doubt the worst Motherwell team in years and those above him are responsible for allowing him to do so.
What we are left with is a dreadful squad and a rookie manager.
As I’ve said more than once now, if this season ends badly then it’s on Burrows and the board.
Agreed.

Any good team needs a consistent and solid spine, which we don't have. It's clear that we need at least one commanding CB, a Campbell-esque CM, and another CF. That might help us get the basics right.

He is already under pressure. Watch his post match interviews. He is clueless about what to do. Poor squad sure, but whatever is going on with the coaching and playing formations it isn't working. Another Motherwell manager who doesn't know his best 11.
Signing Moult and Aarons may be his downfall. However, he inherited all of the other issues and knew that before choosing to throw himself in at the deep end. It's now down to him to manage us out of this mess.
