  1. I don't disagree, but it really is clutching at straws.
  2. More donkey defending. This team has the look of having zero confidence about them and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Kettlewell needs a miracle now, which won't come because he signed a bunch of shite and sent everyone else out on loan.
  3. He's got until January in my opinion. But then again, would you trust him with cash in the window to sign more potential duds and crocks?!
  4. We do seem to be a bit of a mess at the decision-making level and that's been much discussed on this forum since before Burrows left. This isn't a problem unique to Motherwell. It's pervasive across football now and managers all know that they're one bad run away from a sacking.
  5. That would only work if Kettlewell bothered to put Spencer on the right.
  6. He entered panic mode on Saturday as well, and it worked, but he won't last beyond January if that's all he's got up his sleeves.
  7. Biereth aside, we're so one-dimensional and that makes it easy for teams to suss us out and then rely on us making our routine mistakes to guarantee them a goal or two. Kettlewell is under a lot of pressure now and looks to have nothing up his sleeves now that KVV is gone.
  8. Wilkinson is worse than a man down so far. Wasteful with every ball he recieves and too slow to make any effectice runs. And that was a terrible goal to lose. More leaks than Downing Street.
  9. This move will play right into their victim mentality.
  10. Agreed. Given the personnel available and the desire to play a back 3 with wingbacks, it must be SOD and Spencer in the starting eleven. Both are RWBs, but I imagine Spencer will shine on his natural side, and SOD has shown in the past that he is more than competent at LWB. We all seem to agree that Spencer is wasted on the left, so let's hope that Kettlewell agrees.
  11. If this happens, it'll be clear that Kettlewell has entirely deluded himself with his ‘hanging my hat’ on the Bair project and isn't willing to admit he was wrong. I still can't believe we gave him a 2-year deal.
  12. Agreed. With all the general negativity around the majority of the performance, and Biereth (rightly) taking the MOTM for singlehandedly changing the game, we shouldn't forget that young Luca did exactly what was expected of a striker and scored a goal when in the box. He deserves praise and I hope we see more of him coming off the bench as he develops.
  13. I agree with this position, as it's naive to be a one-trick pony in this league. But, I honestly don't see what fine-tuning, major changes, or other players we can rely on that would allow Kettlewell not to have to place all our eggs in the Biereth basket until the January window. Just look at the last five games. The reality is that Biereth has shown us that he is currently our only good attacking option with his goals and assists. Persisting with variations of Shaw, Bair, and Wilkinson will see us concede more than we score. However, maybe Wilkinson will improve by playing alongside Biereth more often?! I hope so. And maybe Obika will come back, not get re-injured, and batter in 10+ goals. He's better than Bair and Shaw. By now, it should be evident to everyone that we are, unfortunately, solely reliant on a fantastic loanee striker staying fit because Kettlewell signed a variation of crocks, duds, and cheap projects instead of spending those combined wages on 1 or 2 actual known quantities. It was a risk that turned out to be a mistake. And I'm sure he knows that now and will be feeling the pressure.
  14. Unlike the officials, I don't even pretend to understand what the handball rule is nowadays.
  15. Correct. Biereth aside, and not including Luca Ross in this as he’s a kid in the development squad, our current striking options are dugmeat and we will indeed be fucked if Biereth gets injured again.
  16. People said the same on here about Bair…and now look where we are. Furthermore, Luca Ross hasn't had a league start or had as a many minutes as Shaw so far, but the former showed more talent and effort in his brief cameo than Shaw did in 87 minutes. To me, he just doesn't look like he's got it.
  17. Oh dear, the naughty language police have arrived.
  18. There was a point in the second half yesterday where he got the ball at his feet in the box and instead of shooting he proceeded to run towards the O’Donnell stand with the ball. That suggests to me that he doesn't have the strikers instinct and no amount of preseasons could fix that. He was a panic signing and that's it.
  19. Yesterday was a weird one. For the most part, I thought the ref was generally okay and was trying to let the game flow. At the same time, however, I also thought the overall quality/consistency of officiating and the use of VAR was bewilderingly frustrating. It's pretty clear that Scottish refs are more or less rubbish, and that VAR has arguably now made things worse. Yesterday could be used as a case study to demonstrate that reality.
  20. It's perhaps worth mentioning that I was born in the 80s, which is very different to most on here who seem to have been born yesterday.
  21. Some top quality engagement/discussion there.
  22. Glad we scraped the draw, but that was absolute dugmeat. Barring the final five minutes, that was honestly one of the worst performances I've seen in 4 decades. Five games on the bounce without a win now. Bair and Shaw should never start again. Utterly useless. Wilkinson is also shite, but at least he grabbed a goal. Whoever signed those three (probably the same idiot who re-signed Obika) should be taken out the back and shot. Spencer is wasted on the left, and it defies logic that Kettlewell doesn't play one of our better players in his natural position. Noticeable that Gent came on and was a bomb scare. The midfield three function better as a four, so it's good that Miller is back for the next game. Davor must be plotting his way back to the Mediterranean as I write this. Mugabi and Casey were crap, but I assume Butcher starts the next game, and Blaney might get the nod soon aswell. It's also absolutely terrifying that our entire hopes hinge on a 17-year-old boy (Miller) and a loanee (Biereth), who was outstanding. He's a born winner and several of our regulars would do well to take note of his attitude. Kettlewell talks a good talk, although it's mainly word soup, but I now feel that he is very much being found out now that he doesn't have the likes of KVV to bail us out. His plan B yesterday was to employ chaos theory, which was a result of him waiting too long to change things after we went one down. With four games coming in quick succession, we must win at least 2 of them to restart our season. If not, and as the crowd suggested yesterday, the negativity will only intensify. In summary, Kettlewell is now very much under pressure, particularly if he doesn't learn from this game, and recent team selection would suggest he hasn't learned anything. Hanging his hat on the likes of Bair is fucking embarrassing and he needs to apologise to us for persevering with that level of nonsense. It's unacceptable at this level. Does he think we enjoy paying our money to watch his diddy experiments and panic signings fail?! That alone could see him lose his job come January. All in all, it's just not good enough. 1 point from 15.
