I would argue he has improved massivley since his first season. He has certainly setup a fair few goals and probably could chip in with a few more, but thats not his role. His crossing has also been much better. Also you have to understand that a winger is probably the hardest position to play in football as you run close to the touchline and your aim is to get by defenders so chances are you will lost the ball more often than other players. For me he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

I respect your opinion, but how can you say that Humphrey is worse than say Meechan or McHugh? The boy does have some faults in his game, but I think the positives of having him in the team outweigh any negatives. He causes opposition sides to fall further back to either man mark him or double up on him. this allows us to get forward more.

We could play him up front. We only have two recognised experienced forwards in Murphy and Higdon. Most top teams try and have at least three forwards who can guarentee you goals. Would love to have Porter back at Motherwell.

Forbes has had two seasons too prove his worth in the team. More often than not he has faded out of games and has also looked too slow to cope with the speed of the SPL. Now granted he has been played out of position and had a stop start career with Motherwell so far, but he will know himself that unless he can improve he will not last at Motherwell much longer. A good example is Shaun Hitchinson who hadn't played for months but strolled back into the team and is now a regular. Forbes needs to do the same. I think his days might be numbered though with Jennings signing an extension and also Law signing on a 2 year deal. He is now quite far done the list for midfield options.

We have sold fuck all in years so can sign fuck all. Pretty basic maths is all that you need to figure out our budgets for this season. As for the young players well McHugh and Forbes have this season to prove themselves. They were both poor last season. Its make or break.

You can't read too much into that. Two different managers and tactics. Brown and Knox were very defensive while McCall has been using a much more attacking tactic.

In my perfect Motherwell world I would like to see Hutchinson and Saunders as our future centre back pairing over the next couple of years. With Craigan moved into more of a coaching role and an option from the bench. Reynolds was a good player for us, but when you see guys like Hutch and Saunders - they are more of the CB mould. I always felt Reynolds could have been an excellent midfielder (something Gannon tried with him) but it never really turned into anything.

See this Forbes argument. Its been going on for two seasons now. Last season I though overall he was very poor and apart from one decent performance did nothing in the other games he played. On the other hand big Hitchinson came back into the team and has never looked back. If its a confidence thing then he needs to screw the nut and sort himself out.
