  1. Thats miles oot Mr Elder A fortnight to appoint a new Gaffer might well have been too quick and possibly a bit rushed in the circumstances, would you rather JB had made a quick appointment in Sandy Clark, John Robertson, Alex Smith etc If we go out to Llanelli, it'll be down to , players contracts expiring, McGhee breaking his contract, Leitch breaking his contract, Setanta TV going bust forcing massive cutbacks in Scottish Football (if we sell!) , the ridiculous early start to the Europa qualifiers causing an only 4 wk rest break Oh and the Lanarkshire micro climate amongst many other things two weeks to get the correct manager is extremely quick and cannot be crticised, and players leaving if it happens to keep the club alive in dire financial times I would reckon you will agree would be the correct decision instead of Gambling it all against beating Llanelli AFC
  2. The club did not have 2000 tickets in their possession to sell yesterday before 3pm so that is a massive exageration, the actual amount quoted in a few places is just under 1000 at that time Nae danger, Motherwell have been allocated 3300 tickets if (and its an unlikely if) we were threatening to sell out that amount I'd imagine they'd find another spot in the 15,0000 seater stadium to squeeze another couple in
  3. I'm sure the Bigman was hoping Al_B's satirical post had been consigned to the archives but here it is, Sorry Sutty
  4. All good information CharlieTG your club sure have some challenges to deal with and I'd reckon a fair number of 'Well fans can relate to your situation You'll fit straight in here , hope you hang about and see how your man does if he takes the job
  5. Think this is the Ghost: picture not allowed also like article i found it in,tells the big boys how it is
  6. Official clicky to Gannon offer Happy enough with that, Looks like club hand has been forced with Devlins article lets just hope no spanners get dropped in the works with the early announcement before the ink is dry.
  7. I'm thinking that people are getting carried away with this thought of having a large sum of money to spend in the transfer market The clubs 2008 accounts reported approx £1.5million from TV and radio and also stated as a positive note in the outlook that the extended deal negotiated with Setanta was worth almost double to the club We all know that money is not there now, so budgets will have to be adjusted accordingly the loss of Setanta money leaves a gaping hole in the budget about one third of income based on previous years and it was to be expected it would have been nearer half if the new deal had survived. So imho folk need to get a grip on expectations as I'd rather see the finances managed correctly, some player money is going to be required as the club is built around a first team squad but after losing a third of your income stream it would be foolish to go and try and even match what had been getting spent in the past PS not a personal dig Juan K, just your the most recent to post
  8. Thursday Morning 0530-0630 hopefully, but certainly before 0730 no point in encountering Rush hour traffic just getting to the Motorway Reckon it'll be 8hrs + with some rest stops. Leaving to come back up Friday morning some time Travel thread?
  9. I've not really got a clue who's best for the job or indeed who is really in for it other than the speculation on here. But If it is Jim Gannon and the description gven by Charlietoogood is a fair reflection then I'd be happy with him. as for the Daily Retard story, just the usual speculation, I have totally given up on buying newspapers, everything printed is available elsewhere and articles nowadays are just cobbled together in the same manner most of the posts on here are by piecing together random snippets. i.e Clarkson friends & family reports he's already been down to do the deal ....... Motherwell report he's been granted permission but no talks til next week....... grapevine says new manager appointed early next week .... all that equals, new manager to have say on transfers out. But aye Jimmy Gannons Motherwell Army does appeal to me
  10. Tomorrow: Andy Devlin says Gannon has the job
  11. and now our official confirms it clicky talks to start next week
  12. Time for the club and the agent to step up the media machine and hopefully encourage other bidders I'll be gutted to see him go, but if he is moving get the best deal for him be it cash up front, international call ups or sell on clauses. Clarky should always be here, just like I felt Phil should've always been here I can still dream of Faddy & Clarky pairing up for the 'Well in the future

    So It Begins...

Gates were open next to the Chapman building so wandered in to have a look this afternoon (Bill Dickie was on security at the gates but he was on the mobile, so a workman like nod got me past him ) Pitch is looking good already, early signs of a good covering of grass from the first sow and although there is still quite a slope from East down to the Phil O'D, the surface is eh? well? Flat! Kinda hard to describe definately not level, but smooth and on only one plane Anyway they sent the heavy mob out to evict me he seemed in good form as well as the pitch
  14. nothing new or have you not noticed we've been that way for some time now, expect a loan or youth to be along sometime soon and anyway what's the worry Melly is still here So we have got one , expect one to get signed and our very promising youths to step up Hows the defence dodgey, we've only lost McLean (only played 12 times) and we've got the Lads Hutchison and Saunders who both looked solid when they appeared last year Again not lost anybody yet and even if Clarky goes Sutton was also in the top ten scorers last season, in fact had a better return than Clarky, also some youth available, so hardly Nil strikers. Do you really believe we'll have no manager? Don't think you're cut out for being a 'Well fan if you need something else from it that means there is currently no point. Hopefully a small sherry will calm you down tonight and you'll be up buying a ticket tomorrow EDIT: Weeyin, you should defo get a warning for that attempt at a nemo joke
  15. We're told St Mirren have millions in the bank and are/have already signed players but Aye Doon ye go Killie
  16. See ya Or would you not be better just waiting and seeing what really happens, SEVEN WEEKS before the season starts don't you know, a lot can happen in Scottish football before then.
  17. Quinn has not, read it again Unlike Quinn, he(reynolds) has two years left on his contract
  18. I'm bored is it MonDaWell thats likes all things Asian, would she do? Read all about mastermind box art here
  19. But one thing is guaranteed if the club manages this correctly is that in SEVEN weeks we'll still be on at least the same points as everyone else, so much more could have changed in that time, Hell clubs could even be ten points behind us Most likely we'll have a new manager and a few new signings as well as a few highly successful youngsters to cheer on every week.
  20. exactly a whole lot of ifs and buts, so no firm statement to be made the club might have decided to try and sell on one player if the price is right or as you suggest their might be a wholesale clearout, why would that be? and what would advertising it really bring about, probably reduce offers as other clubs definately know we grasping for cash. The club has been quite professional so far, as such everything is rumour, so if something thats happening doesn't go through there is no egg on the face, players involved should not get labelled whoremeisters as McGhee did for publicly stating his plans Whatever will be, will be, we'll just have to wait and see
  21. Because until it actually happens, then it might not happen I'm quite happy only to read about actual confirmed transfers, too often specualtion comes to nothing ( not necessarily in this case) and surely from your marketing background you realise its not a good idea to advertise that as a business some of the key attractions are in danger of being sold off, at a time when the business is trying to sell tickets for the up and coming season
  22. Expect Cardiff to lifting the phone to enquire about Reynolds as well, having just sold Johnson to big Eck for £5million after buying him for £275k
  23. The club made noises that lessons from the Nancy ticket sales were to be learned: wouldn't it be a really good idea for the club (thats you 'Flow ) to put up a copy of the form that needs filled in. it could be printed off and filled in before people go up to the club to buy tickets. That would surely save a few minutes per transaction for Home and/or Away tickets
  24. Scarlets site Scarlets can you provide the post code of the ground for folks with sat-nav, and an address for us old fashioned folks the address on the website appears to be in a shopping centre
  25. But if we are being forced to re-finance the club through a sale or two, due to the impact of losing TV money, we may very well have administration forced on a few other clubs to save us Can only imagine P&B going into meltdown if that happened
