Don't think the guy was looking for a pat on the back or anything, think quite a lot of us, after getting something right like a scoreline or whatever, do the same. Nothing more than that.

McGhee says......... Motherwell manager Mark McGhee was delighted with Chris Porter’s contribution as he hit a hat-trick to give them a 3-2 win over Inverness, and says he expects the striker to remain at Fir Park until the end of the season. Porter has been linked with a move to The Championship in January, but McGhee admits that if he wants to go he may need to let him leave. “I’m worried that I’ll be losing him eventually, but it’s our decision if we lose him in January,” he said after the victory. “So I do have concerns about that, but there’s nothing I can tell you about that now. No-one has talked to me about Chris Porter.” He continued: “My ambition is to climb the table, as high as we can and we need Chris Porter to do that. Unfortunately in today’s game when a player decides to go, it’s all to do with Chris. “If Chris decides what he wants to do it is similar to Ross McCormack last year when he was prepared to stay and that was great. But if Ross had made it clear and made a scene about it and wanted to go we would have had to let him go - and it’s the same with Chris. “Up to now Chris hasn’t been banging on my door saying he wants to leave so we’ll have to wait and see.” Motherwell have been able to move three points away from the bottom of The SPL, and McGhee hailed that attitude of his players in training in the build-up to the match. He said: “I would say Clarkson, Porter, Jim O’Brien and Mark Fitzpatrick trained the best they’ve trained in months. They’re the fittest they’ve been and had their best performances at training so we thought if we brought that into the match we stood a chance. “That’s why Jim O’Brien played, he’s not played up to now because he’s never looked like that and this week he seemed to recognise he would have an opportunity. Because we’ve not been consistent or playing well in games I couldn’t pick the team based on the Hamilton game I had to pick the team from necessity and from what I saw in training. “So those guys played themselves into the team by training so hopefully that is back because we’re training with numbers and hopefully we can go on and improve.”
  4. Well, back on BBC Alba today. And back to winning ways.....!
  5. Think it might have been the perfect headed hat-trick. One with the left, one with the right, and one bang centre of his napper!

Was talking about Maros before the game and it was remarked how it'd be good to try him in the middle as he looked more of a midfielder. Lo and behold, get the teamsheet and there he is. And he didn't disappoint I think.
  7. Aye, Ports for me. Didn't think Klimpl did badly today either to be honest.

If you think we have problems, you should read what the Invershneck fans have to say about their situation and management.....(you'll need to register first) Shneckie FC One quote....

    Jim O'brien

O'Brien was eager and determined all game. Clearly was a threat to them, definetly deserving of a place in my opinion.

Result flattered Invershneckie today, like to think they'd be good enough to admit it. Brilliant at 78 minutes, though with Inverness attacking and forcing two corners I thought for a moment they were really going to spoil it, and that would have been bizarre they scoring and us applauding had it happend. Thankfully they didn't. Brilliant effort today, everyone got tore in and some of the football was superb. Three well-taken goals, could have been more.

    Porter

First career hat-trick was 19 Nov 05 in a 3-3 draw for Oldham at Brentford. I make it that today was the second hat-trick of Chris Porter's career.
  12. I think, to be honest, an answer on that one would settle a lot of arguments and pacify many.
  13. Last night's low got to -5.6, that puts it in the top five lowest temps of the entire year. However, given the ground had thawn out after over two weeks with the temps above freezing (bar two slight frosts early in the period) the ground shouldnt' be solid right through. If the game doesn't go ahead, I doubt few will have any sympathy this time. It simply must go on.

15:47 Goal - Nottm Forest 0 Doncaster 3 (Richard Wellens 45) You really sure about this Chris?????
  15. Like to think that, this time, Mark will get the guys we need to not only ensure survival, but give us a squad capable enough of climbing that table again. More than ever, this is going to be one crucial transfer window.
  16. Wherever you are, at 5.18 on Saturday, pause for a minute. I know I will be.
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone. Happy times ahead!

Hmmm, never been comfortable keeping folk who have signed pre-contracts elsewhere. Would make obvious sense to get rid now and try and obtain someone who'd play for the jersey. Thanks for last season.
  19. Not going to throw any names at this one, but can't wait to see who will make what suggestions. Can imagine there's going to be a few...........

ICT are a poor, poor outfit. I know we aint much better on paper, but in reality we are a better side. They have promised to spend loads next month to get themselves out of trouble. Like to think we will spend a bit too, if they have it, surely we got some too!
  21. The goal he scored against FHW was probably the best he did in a 'Well jersey. Met it full on the drop and no keeper was ever going to save it, fantastic goal. That, and the run and goal up at Dens one cold, December day, will always be etched in the mind.
  22. Aye, that was quite funny. Can imagine the discussion between him and Craggo on Monday!
  23. Superb read. Lot of bad press the past year, Paul Quinn deserves a lot of praise. And it's unusual the press printing good news for a change!
  24. I'm pretty sure that Craggo feels it as much as the rest of us. And, I'm certain there aint one of us hasn't had a chuckle or three during this past run. Aye, this is a serious situation we find ourselves in, but you are allowed to laugh.
