Well boss Brown 'no' to second Dons offer Craig Brown has revealed he turned down the chance to take over at Aberdeen out of loyalty to his players at Motherwell and reluctance to move too far from his family. Aberdeen's determination to land Brown was underlined when chairman Stewart Milne made a second attempt to persuade him yesterday, having had a meeting on Tuesday which ended in disappointment. Brown was flattered and promised to consider the renewed offer overnight, but he is certain to contact Milne today and tell him he will not be coming. Former Scotland manager Brown, 70, was Aberdeen's first choice and along with assistant Archie Knox he met Milne, director of football Willie Miller and managing director Duncan Fraser in Glasgow. At Brown's suggestion, the meeting took place at the office of his solicitor brother Jock. Last night, the Well boss said he had been impressed by Milne and claimed the Aberdeen chairman did everything he could have done to make the offer attractive. He said: "You'd hardly get a bigger and better club outside the Old Firm, a club with bigger potential, than Aberdeen. It is a big club, a real football club. "If everything else was equal I'd have done it, or if the response at Motherwell wasn't as good as it is, we'd jump into Aberdeen. But we have such a young and vibrant group of players here." Even Aberdeen's superior fanbase and wage bill could not tempt Brown and Knox, not least because they have reached a stage in their careers where they are weary of moving around the country. "Archie has done 15 moves already. My family's all in Ayrshire. My wee grandkids think Aberdeen's in Outer Mongolia," added Brown. "Aberdeen's a smashing city, but on balance we thought, having thought the whole thing over, that it wasn't right." Scottish Under-21 manager Stark and former Hibs manager John Hughes will inevitably move up the list of candidates for the Dons job now. Hamilton's Billy Reid, Mixu Paatelainen at Kilmarnock, Gus MacPherson and Jocky Scott have also been linked with the post as well as several non-Scottish managers. Another rumour had Scott and Alex Smith down to return in a resurrection of the co-managerial team which was in charge at Pittodrie from 1988 to 1991 and won two domestic cups Meant this to be an edit to the other post, ooops...........!

Can't imagine what the attraction is up there. It USED to be a bigger club, now for years the only thing bigger is the potential crowds they can pull thanks to being in a city of some 214000 people and having no real near neighbour to compete with for crowds. That club is rotten to the core and needs to be cleaned inside out firstly, and that comes from Aberdeen fans. Brown doesn't need the money I'd have thought, or to prove anything. Disaster waiting to happen for him if he goes, we'll survive regardless.

Chick Young. Full of exclusives, none of which ever come true.

Minks?!?! FFS, they've got a cheek to call anyone unclean!

Friday lunchtime would have been a far more sensible day to make a decision, bit too early.
-
Aye, it's bit Safa Shivute. That was the game which more or less stopped Rangers getting 10-in-a-row was it not they began a right slide around then.
-
They are going to be under new management by then after McGhee going tonight.
-
You want to have seen us in the warm-up, could hardly miss. But during that minute you've no time to line it up so were somewhat less accurate...........
-
Only the first 200? Right enough, by then that'll be what's left of the home support.

Scotrail are pathetic at times. We were sat in a train last night at Waverely for 20-odd minutes before, some 10 mins beyond it's departure time, they decided to cancel the train for no given reason. Meant the entire train had to try and fit on a bus.

Certainly was said - don't know if the mikes picked it up at all.

It's a conspiracy I tell ya. Camera angles and all that........-) Just under 5 foot 4 to be honest. Great day, Sky treated us very well indeed. Not everyone's cup of tea but thoroughly enjoyed it. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is unbelieveable superb stuff!

Remember that game well. Was very foggy and it looked a bit doubtful with half-an-hour to go. Good job the game went on , fine win!
-
Maltese Referees? Anyone remember Charles Aguis? Superb game in Dortmund I seem to recall.
-
Think they are getting ready for us, wonder what that is in the corner of the office there?
-
The Referees should picket outside Parkhead........

Hitlers like that will drive more folk from the game than bad results, or poor football. Those in power really need to sort this crap out now.
-
Two extremely difficult home games coming up. Still, if we have ambitions, this is when they will be tested.

Jeff Stelling thnks we're still losing 0-1..........
