This Steaua Bucharest bears no resemblence to any of those which achieved those results. Not saying they aren't any good, they are not to be feared. Respected yes, feared, not like they would've been a couple of years ago.
Telly you what, quite a few Romanians think this game is in the bag for them and all they need to do is turn up. Some comments there for the dressing room wall on Thursday night. High balls? Us? Ok, if you think so...........
Think I saw big Pat walking up Airbles Road near Kwik Fit on my way home tonight. He's flippin' huge, hope he can play a bit and we sign him as he'll scare quite a few in the SPL.
Now, that's DRY!!
I noticed that the ticket prices are £2. Two quid?!?! FFS! Can't imagine the Romanians who come over will be impressed at having to pay more than seven times that to get into the away leg!
Shows you what happens when you can buy your way into Europe every year by denying the rest a fair crack of the whip. Steaua are much the same from years gone by I seem to recall.
There's a big difference between hot, sticky and humid heat and hot, dry heat. Some forcasts indicate that Thursday will be the highest humidity for the week in Bucharest at 54%, though compared to here that's still quite low (70%).
It'll probably be around 79F at kick-off time, that's 26C minimum. Going to be very dry air though. Don't think the Romanians will be too impressed with the currently forecast 63F and showers for the following week .......
I like the way each report says he will be "competing" for the No.1 jersey. Fraser might be numbered 1, but I imagine it's a Ruddy good choice on Thursday and beyond.......
Oooops...anyhow, Paisley...Wigan...from what I recall neither are des-res! Can't imagine Saint Mirren will draw a crowd of any sort. In saying that, they are charging just a fiver to get in. I think what confused me was calling it the DW stadium, hadn't realised that Wigan have completely revamped the interior of their ground and renamed it after a new sponsorship deal....
New Name
Seems Wigan are coming to Scotland after all....though they are having to slum it out in Paisley...............
Roberto Martinez's Wigan will face St Mirren.
ST MIRREN READY FOR WIGAN TEST
Wigan have hastily arranged a friendly against St Mirren after Spanish side Almeria pulled out of their scheduled match on August 8 because of fears over swine flu.
Almeria have also cancelled a friendly against Swansea for similar reasons.
Roberto Martinez's Wigan have filled the gap by asking the Scottish Premier League side to visit the DW Stadium for a 3pm kick-off instead.
Got loads of old pics up the loft, will have to sift through them and see what is there. I know there are plenty of when the Knowetop end was redeveloped.
Need to get them tied up, I reckon Gannon, given his thoughts and words to date, will get this done. Won't, I imagine, be of the sort Jovial Jim McLean used to do right enough. Seem to recall he favoured 10-YEAR contracts at one point!
I wouldn't risk playing Coke unless it was absolutely certain there was no risk of us being done by UEFA over playing him. I'd be certain our club has done everything to ensure we are legally sound though. Given Steua's problems with key players, we are more than capable of coming home level on the night.
Would love to go to this but can't make it (aint got time off for a couple of weeks yet). Club charters are well worth it, time we went to the Faroes and also Finalnd were brilliant.
Well done to the Under 14s ..... winners of the Plate Final!!
Champs!
13:30 Plate Final Lisburn Distillery 0-1 Motherwell (Brandywell Showgrounds)
The Under 12s sadly lost out to Sheffield United and finished 8th.
