  1. When I googled "trial motherwell" I got the story about Scott Letich being fined 1300 quid in November for a fracas with a taxi driver
  2. Ally MacLeod was the carpet expert I seem to recall. His adverts were worse than our performance against Iran.
  3. I'll be at this one, so we'll most likely lose. Sorry. It's been years since I saw us win at Fir Park, or even pick up a point. I've seen us win away as recently as the Accies game in May, but I think the last time I saw us win at Fir Park, Tommy Coyne was playing! Fingers crossed for a change of fortune.
  4. Based on the last few results our priority needs to be a backup, or if he leaves - a replacement, for Hartley.
  5. I think we'll call him "the answer to a 2025 motherwell quiz night question that only Peter Elder got right"
  6. Maybe.... Then there's the "Airdrie" fan that runs the PR machine at Ibrox. It's no coincidence that guys like Ian Archer (Partick Thistle fan), Richard Park (Raith Rovers fan) and the guys on Off the Ball (to name a few) offer a much more entertaining view on things. Partly because they are biased towards their own clubs, and partly because they are open about it.
  7. I actually don't mind Willie Miller. I'm much happier to listen to someone who is open about their allegiances - then you can judge it for what it is. Much worse are the pundits who pretend they support less fashionable teams then spout OF-love repeatedly.
  8. Would be madness to break our financial model because it has started to work. This is what is supposed to happen.
  9. That is some cracking business. To keep him for the first half of the season thenget a transfer fee (with add-ons) is way more than I expected would could get.
  10. I'm still amazed the media bought in to the 10-11 million they allegedly spent over the summer. No way Dave King gave them that. And no way he will be giving that to the new gaffer.
  11. The big question mark over last night's second half performance, of course, is how much being 3 behind and having nothing to lose made a difference. It's always easier to play "catch up" when there's nothing at stake. Having said that, the 2nd half line up is the kind of team I'd prefer to see more often - they just need to prove they can perform consistently and win games over 90 minutes.
  12. I thought we were talking about us.
  13. Sounds like Newell isn't quite fit yet (whatever was wrong with him) so I'm guessing he won't be near the plastic for this one.
  14. I haven't watched on Alba yet, but good to hear Frear and Tanner left a good impression. I remain hopeful they will make a significant contribution in the second half of the season.
  15. Send me your bank account details and online banking password and I'll be happy to arrange it for you. Paypal might be an option, with a message to say who it's for, but I'd be more inclined just to shoot the Society an email and ask them the easiest way to do this. They're usually pretty quick to respond.
  16. Hopefully. There's certainly no chance of getting a proven striker in the January window as they are usually proving themselves under contract to their employers. I'm pleasantly surprised we managed to sell Moult. When he started the season I imagined we'd lose him for nowt on a pre-contract. Good piece of business - unless we get relegated of course, then it's a case of "Utter madness by an incompetent Board who should all be sacked" I'm sure Robinson has targets, but some of the better ones might not be available until the summer.
  17. I don't think it's the Celtic result as much as our apparent inability to cope with loss of 4 players. Given the chat about our deeper squad this season, it's disappointing that we are struggling.
  18. It looks like a 3rd party payment processor, so you might get away with a UK address. It really depends what rules they have set up. If I was to guess, I'd say you were fine, as I imagine Thistle fans based in the UK sometimes register for games when they are on holiday etc. - and they will have UK addresses.
  19. Given Robinson had one window to completely refresh a massively under-performing team, I'd say stage one was successful. Next window, it looks like we'll need to replace one or two key players, but all the noises coming from the club are that we at least know who our targets are. Anything around mid-table in May, and with no relegation scares, would be a big improvement on the last couple of seasons. I'm actually quite surprised at the level of performance given how many new players we have.
  20. We brought Moult in (as we do with many players) on the promise this can act as a springboard to bigger things. Not to mention lining our own pockets too. I don't fault our Board for doing everything to keep him. It stops fans from moaning we didn't try, and it may even bump up his value when/if concrete offers are made. Equally, I don't fault Moult for moving on. He has more than kept his side of the deal, and even though everyone knew he'd be gone by summer, he has been completely professional in the way he handled speculation on and off the pitch. If any player ever needs a lesson on how to manage their departure from a club, this is it.
  21. 5a./ Determine if Newell is first team material and a Cadbury's Selection Box please Santa.
  22. Was that the one where some posters on here (and our manager) became convinced that Dan Twardzik was the answer to our goalkeeping problems?
  23. https://twitter.com/scotsunsport/status/940348485987074049 https://twitter.com/scotsunsport/status/940348485987074049 Would make sense if Preston are in for him given that Alex Neil is the gaffer there. Plus, if Moult didn't want to relocate his family, it's not too far away. Much closer than Brighton was for McGhee.
  24. I think he'll be making a farewell appearance at the Accies game.
