  1. I see Lewis Ferguson captained Bologna to their Coppa Italia victory last night. Combine that with Max Johnston being a regular starter for a Sturm Graz side that looks odds on to win another League title, and McTominay and Gilmour with the (very slight) edge in the Serie A title chase, I can only hope Miller takes that as inspiration for a move abroad.
  2. Exactly this. We have seen plenty of examples over the years where we struggle to open up a 10-man or park-the-bus defence. I thought we played some pretty decent stuff once we changed formation in the 2nd half and created some decent chances. As much as anything, I was pleased that, at half time, Wimmer found a way to set them up to win and the players responded.
  3. I hope someone can teach Casey how to mark in 3 days, because my money is on him watching the ball float over his head while he is half way up the pitch.
  4. Win against Dundee when we have 10 men. Win against Killie when they have 10 men. It's like Blackjack - winners any time there's 21 in play. Now take your pick...
  5. Especially if you play 2 up front.
  6. And stretch them out wide so they can't stuff the middle.
  7. 100% I like Watt but he needs a traditional central striker playing off him. I suppose that what AP was supposed to be, but a gap we need to address in the summer.
  8. I wasn't sure from the orignal pictures, but when you saw VAR wide angle I was about as close as the nearest covering defender.
  9. Well he missed the clear red, but at least got it right after the review.
  10. Was good to see Baraclough on the Play-off coverage last night, and hear him, however briefly, reminisce about battering Rangers.
  11. I can see how he is a useful player in the right set up, but that set up isn't our defence. I've given up trying to predict how managers view the value of players, though, as I see selections made by all of them that leave me scratching my head.
  12. To be fair, he was in good company: "I see little commercial potential for the internet for the next 10 years" - Bill Gates, 1994
  13. I hope somebody signs Casey so we can start rebuilding a defence with positional awareness and the ball skills to play out from the back.
  14. One of the most naturally talented footballers I have ever seen. Incredible to think how good Morton were when he played for them. He played on his reputation of being fat and lazy, but worked a bit harder than he was given credit for.
  15. I think that's true, but should have been more of an incentive to ensure Feely was not re-elected after trying to sell the WS down the river and eliminate that very protection.
  16. Aye, very low turnout - especially when you don't need to even leave the house to vote. For all the members that complained about Tom Feely's approach to the takeover bid, he was only 15 votes away from re-election. That's how close a low turnout can make things.
  17. In the 12 team Scottish Premiership, our average position has been 7th. So if we're regressing, it's towards the mean and been a pretty average season this year. (In the 10 team SPL our average finish was 6th, so not much difference there other than 2 relegations).
  18. I thought the Killie fans were fed up with McInnes and want him punted in the summer anyway,
  19. Not a comedian, I'm guessing...
  20. I think we'll still see youngsters coming through, but you're right that a lot of the prospects will be nicked by other teams before we see them. That happens to teams much bigger than is, and isn't likely to end soon. That's why I'm in agreement with those people, like our CEO, who say the development payments need to increase. They haven't changed for a number of years while transfer prices continue to rise exponentially. The Covid seasons created a gap in development which hasn't helped, but at least we kept our academy active. Of course you can't guarantee any of the youngsters will make the step up, but if we do find any, the fact that we can offer first team football sooner still gives us some advantage. Cornelius was a Hibs youngster who didn't sign for us until he was 17 or so, so while we helped his development, he isn't really an academy product.
  21. That's true of our entire defence. Something SK never managed to fix. I said it then, and I'll keep saying it. Regardless of what you think of an individual player, the defensive unit has been broken for a few seasons now and needs a complete rebuild. We needed to clear them all out and rebuild it from scratch. O'Donnell has his faults, but if you play him as a central defender beside a guy who has even less positional sense, you don't need to be Nostradamus to predict the outcome. I know that was pretty much our entire set of fit defenders, but even our first choices aren't exactly inspiring.
  22. I've rated Slattery since the day he joined us. I'm happy a lot of his early detractors are seeing the light this year.
  23. It's Kettlewell's team, we have one fit central defender and the guy SK signed to be our main striker is also crocked. There's not much blame left to assign elsewhere.
  24. Tell me we need a completely new defence without telling me we need a completely new defence. Or just take your pick...
  25. If I put it on my phone, will I not need a 3000 mile cord between Fir Park and the socket on my wall at home?
