  1. Boyd was definitely a class act. Started off life in a sweeper type role as I recall and had a gift for reading the game. Switching to left back seemed to sharpen him up and he picked up a yard or two of pace. Joe Wark still pips him though - never shirked a tackle, his timing was immaculate and the coolest head on the park at all times. His curled left foot passes up the wing were always on target and he had a good line in keepie-uppie to entertain the crowd during game stoppages.
  2. Ach, a season fighting in the bottom half of the table will maybe give a reality check to some of the moaners on here who have been complaining the last few years.
  3. We did hold out - that is why they came back with improved bids.
  4. I imagine we would have sold Ojamaa, Hutchy and Law when the offers came in last season rather than reject them.
  5. What I don't forget about Malcolm is how some posters were trying to convince us what a fine footballer he was when we signed him.
  6. As I understand it (and I'm no doubt out of touch with the UK financial laws these days), a "share subscription" (the term used in the email) is a right to buy shares at a specified future date or during specified periods at a predetermined price - it's not the actual purchase of shares. So it's possible, for example, that the club was able to secure funds on the 150k subscription without any purchase of shares having taken place yet. I agree we need more details, but let's focus on the facts rather than speculation.
  7. If wikipedia is correct, then aye, he made his debut against Accies in May 2009 - about 4 weeks before McGhee made his big move up the ladder. EDIT: and was signed in 2007.
  8. It's the board that deals with the out of contract players - McCall just tells them who he wants to stay. Seeing as he said he already knew who was likely to leave, and that he has been inundated with offers from agents, I'm sure he has plenty of options in mind.
  9. Gordon is still injured and, by his own admission, has no idea when (or even if) he'll be fit again.
  10. Only if we don't sing anyone else (which is unlikely). McCall's philosophy has been very attack minded; I don't see why he'd want to change that approach.
  11. That's all very well on the blackboard. However, when Higgy holds up the ball and his support is 30 yards off him, 4-5-1 is not working.
  12. We struggled with 4-5-1 leaving Higgy isolated up top. It definitely wasn't just 4-3-3 in defence.
  13. If we keep Higgy, 4-5-1 is not a good option.
  14. 25 quid sent. Thanks, as always, for running this again. Hope we can beat last year's total.
  15. With one or two exceptions, players (and managers) we are linked with in the media bear little relation to players we end up signing. Most of our business takes place under the radar. We have also done a number of decent deals with free agents after the window closes.
  16. Aye, I guessed that would be the reason. I suppose we wouldn't sell enough to justify the effort involved. I'll just have to keep an eye out for an original.
  17. I don't buy shirts these days, but I'd be first in line for one of the old Adidas efforts. To hell with the copyright issues!
  18. First 2 players that spring to mind every time I see that kit are Willie Irvine and Brian McLaughlin.
  19. I always liked the old 80s adidas effort (which didn't have a band or hoop) - but don't like the sleeves on this one. Without the band on the sleeves, I think it's a cracker.

  21. Gutted Derek "Ruby" Murray didn't make the cut. Was always impressed with his ability to consistently stand off his man just far enough that he looked like he was marking him, but too far away to actually tackle him.
  22. That's excellent news. Will likely make me tune in now too.
