  1. Was at Bradford City v MK Dons last week and thoroughly enjoyed it ... great to see so many claret and amber scarves. Mate and I both reckoned it was Spl equivalent but 17000 crowd and atmospheric ground under lights gave it a real sense of occassion even with less than 100 away fans. Boycott ?

I meant in comparison to recent history, can you honestly say we have players now as good as under McCall eg is Jules any better than Hutchison, Clay any better than Nicky Law. I am realistic about where we are as a club my point perhaps clumsily made was that we just seem to accept it rather than strive to improve it. Understand we need to be a selling club but we seem to be throwing a lot of mud at the wall for so far one success (marv) and potentially moult so perhaps the balance is wrong. Hopefully the current crop of kids on new contracts will bear more fruit but we seem intent on limiting their development by bringing in imo very limited players. Btw have great respect for our older club stalwarts and have never had a go at them. What do I want from a Motherwell team? Organisation, discipline, effort, reasonable level of skill, attempting attacking entertaining football, and busting a gut to win games. Notice I havent said winning things but trying to would be a start Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Boycott ?

Now turned 60 I have followed the Well for over 45 years, have some shares, joined the well society, have worked at the club, and was also involved in the trust. I went home and away and introduced my 3 kids to the 'joys' of following the Well. I have had some wonderful times that old firm fans just will never understand, and most importantly met some terrific people. Just a month ago 7 of us who all met through MFC had a wonderful meal together to bid one of our number a fond farewell to his new life in the States. I have gained a huge amount by being a supporter and would never indulge in a 'boycott'.......but then I realised perhaps as others I have been 'boycotting' for a few years as my level of attendance has dropped from season ticket holder to maybe 1 in 3 home games and very few away. In fact, living away from the area, when I do go now the primary motive is to see the friends I have made over the years. For me a defining moment was the Celtic Cup Final when we just didn't turn up or compete. There was a defeatist attitude that day and in many ways has been ever since, a mild acceptance of our place in the scheme of things which I believe affects the attitude shown on the park. We are not daft, we know we are a smaller club but as others have proved smaller clubs can do great things or at least bust a gut trying and that is what I see missing..... to me we use the lack of resource as a ready made excuse, rather than genuinely strive to be the best we can possibly be. I look at a team full of English non league players and think how can a support identify with these players, who with the exception of Moult are of lesser quality than we had or more worryingly than others seem to bring in. We are trying to find a nugget in the midden to sell on, not build a team playing exciting football, be competitive in the top 6 or win a cup, and that is why the apathy is growing. If that is the sum of our ambition and this is the level of excitement, what is the point of travelling all over the country and spending a fortune. There is a built in excuse for failure and when that situation exists failure is what will happen. I can't pretend to have all the answers but what struck me is the apathy amongst us older ones rather than anger on Saturday. It is as if the support has given up as well....and that is a real worry.

  5. Strong all round performance quodos to Moult and Tait but I thought Scott McDonald was immense. Great goal and an assist and terrific work ethic, no wonder he was knackered at the end. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
  6. I've read this thread with interest, poor Dave must be wondering what he has started. CM makes some interesting points, but I think misses the biggest point of all, in that this is a forum for Well fans, it is not and has never been a 'recruiting tool' for the club. It has evolved from humble beginnings as a small scale discussion forum for Well fans to have a much larger scale and scope than I think the originators could have foreseen. That guys who do this voluntarily and in their own time have achieved this is worthy of congratulations and they should not be the subject of some belittling comments from CM just because they do not fit in with his vision of how things should be done. A lot of the things CM suggests are done by the club already, so I do not see the need to duplicate this. This site should be kept purely as a discussion forum and I for one enjoy the more reasoned posts and threads. I just ignore those I perceive as 'troll like'. CM it would appear from what you tell us that you have been incredibly successful in your chosen field and congratulations to you for that. I do find it slightly puzzling though that you have achieved this success if you go about your business dealings in the same way you have gone about trying to persuade this forum on the merits of your proposal; because what you have done is actually dilute your own argument. Perhaps spending so much time in the digital world has blunted your 'people' radar who knows, but first rule of business is don't belittle or make assumptions about people in general and especially those you have never met.

    Scottish Fitba

I don't feel so guilty now about how I've been feeling when I read some of these posts. I live 40 miles north of Fir Park and can honestly say last Tuesday was the lowest of the low nights in attending football. I nearly didn't go which would have been a first for a home game except if away on hols or at work. For the last 2 years I've hesitated about buying a season ticket but eventually have gone ahead. Next year I won't, and will pick and choose games. I used to go to all away games, then I stopped going to Glasgow, then Edinburgh, then Aberdeen. Perth and Dundee were nearly home games for me. I don't go there anymore. We have a boring overpriced product, a media obsessed with the old squirm, jumped up stewards, appalling referees, neanderthals like Jeffries 3rd in the league, and then a manager who I thought a lot of manipulates his way out of the club. I enjoy the company of the folk I meet up with, my daughters still love to go when not working(about the only thing they are happy to do with their old dad), and it gives me a chance to catch up with my son as well. This (and a loyalty to the club) are the things that hold me back from chucking it all together but as each year goes by the more likely it is that day will come. A lifelong fan with a love of the game is close to giving up on it, and judging by these posts and attendances I'm not alone. But its OK a 10 team league will sort it all out. Aye right.
  8. £20 I don't have a problem with, as others have said you can't moan about not having the money to sign players yet want cheap entry. I don't like the way some get on the bandwagon of having a go at the folks who run our club at every turn. However! Lack of OAP concessions I do have a problem with. Living 40 miles away and no online booking I do have a problem with. No staggered sale (even for say 2 days) to allow season ticket holders to get their seat is also disappointing. Don't think this has been well thought through at all, so I am reluctantly joining the ranks of the disaffected over this. (but I'll still be there on 26th!!)
  9. Thanks for all the information, one thing you can be sure of is that the Motherwell fans who travel will have a great time and there will be no trouble, and that you will have a great welcome in Scotland. It was great fun last night having a drink and a chat with the Alesund fans and just the way it should be.
  10. got your PM and texted back, see you there
  11. Thanks Graham H, its yours. I'll be there at 6.30, (Tall, dark blue jacket, well scarf, I'll skip the pink carnation!!) Please acknowledge and describe so I don't give it to anyone else!!
  12. I have one POD members stand ticket available obviously at face value if anyone wants it. Need to be outside Fir Park Social Club at 6.45 to collect. Will hold it for first reply here.
  13. Oh for goodness sake sailor why should it bug you if you didn't sort it earlier. What do you expect the club to do, wait until the last minute to see if you are going to go before trying to sell your seat!!
  14. Yes I did, it was a bit panic stations but I got them anyways
  15. Agreed, btw did you mean £350K bid from Rangers?
  16. I agree I thought he did sound a bit weary, in fact the whole build up has been a bit low key, lets hope its part of a cunning plan! Regarding funds its quite simple, no one has come in for Reynolds so no money unless we get through on Thursday.
  17. If it is Arrache he looks like he has had more clubs than Jim Hamilton, albeit at a much higher level!!
  18. I BELIEVE YOU CAN'T NOW ORDER ON LINE, GOT MINE MAST WEEK AND POSTED OUT NEXT DAY, BUT NOT AVAILABLE TO ORDER ON WEB SITE TODAY. I got them on line for last game and opted to pick up from office but there was a hell of a job finding my tickets so perhaps thats why they are not doing online so close to the game.
