  1. A younger perspective (born 87): -

    McFadden - For sheer entertainment

O'Donnell - Agreed as per your comments

Arnott - Agreed as per your comments (he was my favourite player when I first started going to games with ma da)

Coyne - quality striker who was a regular scorer in my young Motherwell supporting days

Martin - great defender for Motherwell playing over 200 games and I loved his old if in doubt punt the ball right over the east stand mentallity.

  2. I agree. I think Forbes is a decent player, gets the ball down, has good vision and looks to keep possession. He does lack pace though and isn't match fit due to lack of games. If Lasley is out, Forbes is the obvious candidate to come in.

Shame he hasn't kicked on from his brilliant start to last season.

He's good technically sometimes although his attemps at corners on Saturday were shoking. The bottom line for me is he is a pussy, Mensing bullied him out of the game and he was scared to put in a challenge. The only time that Forbes showed any aggresion on Saturday was when he pushed the guy that was already on the ground! Forbes and Hateley were the worst players on the park on Saturday in my opinion.

  3. Summary of my views on Saturday:

    • Ross Forbes was pish and shouldn't have lasted the game.
    • Referee was bollocks but thats to be expected.
    • Missed Murphy big time.
    • Game was made for Sutton and he should have started (up front).
    • Standard of set pieces (including the penalty) let us down majorly.
    • Accies time wasting is embarrasing on their part, my St Mirren supporting mate told me to watch out for it and I was suitably shoked at their sly tactics from ko.
    • the steak pie I had prior to kick off was excellent.

  4. Fuck it, think how good this could be if we beat Rangers at Hampden, bring them on!!

Just glad its at Hampden cause its 5 minutes walk from ma flat, knew we would get one of them just unfortunate we have got the stronger of the 2 (in my opinion).

  5. Play offs are a joke they don't reward teams with the best record throughout the year. Last season Blackpool finished 6th in the championship but got promoted above the teams in 3rd, 4th and 5th despite not being as good as them over the season.

Play offs provide excitment and as far as I can see Blackpool seem to be holding there own in the EPL and are putting on some really good displays.

  6. this could be a bit of a dilemma for us. if january comes and we're still in the fight for third and in a semi would we want to sell? i'd say no but at the same time you wouldn't want to stand in the way of mark getting this type of move.

i don't think we'd have gotten a draw away to aalesund with hutch/page/saunders playing in place of reynolds so keeping him rather than selling him has already benefited us a bit.

If we get any sort of semi-respectable offer in January we need to let Marky move on. I think Bari would be a great move for Mark apart from the constant exposure to the Italian sun. Surely if he starts playing regularly in Italy he would be the automatic replacement for Weir in the Scotland squad.

  7. Five wins would be nice. 3rd place wrapped up and a trip to Hampden.

Don't think it would be possible to say that 3rd place was wrapped up before Christmas. One thing you should've learnt from Saturday is that there are 2 halfs to everything.

  8. Bardsley had a great fucking game.

Don't know what game I was watching then cause where I was sitting (section A5) he was caught out of position several times leaving two men out on the left for spain with all the time in the world. Everybody I was at the game with and the people around us commented on Bardsleys poor performance.

  9. Morrison 'scored' on tuesday, Bardsley had a good game, Mackie looked well up for it when he came on. Cammy Bell getting a call up shows how light we are for keepers at the moment.

I'm alright with that, frankly. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have in.

    McEveley is brutal though.

Morrison was good, Mackie looked lively but Bardsley was a fucking bombscare, he kept drifting in and leving two men out wide, from my vantage point he was by far the worst player on the park. I'm with eddiemunster on this one, Scottish players playing for the Scottish national side not English players with minor Scottish connections who are accepting 'the next best thing'.

  10. The one question I would put to any such "second generation" Scotland prospect would be, "if given a straight choice between playing for England or playing for Scotland, who would you choose?".

In their heart of hearts they know they are only picking us as they are not good enough to play for England and for me bringing an attitude like that into the camp is not healthy, regardless of their footballing ability. It automatically devalues playing for Scotland in my opinion and could go some way to explain the current malaise surrounding the national team and our efforts to get our best players playing for us.

Agreed, Mackie, Bardsley, Morrision, McEveley and Gilks are all players that are not good enough for England so have 'settled' for Scotland and are in the team ahead of Scottish players.

  11. He changed his allegiance back the other month, when he went down to Barnsley. He is now eligble AFAIK to be included in any future Scotland selection if deemed suitable.

Fuck him then! I hate it when folk choose to play for Ireland when they are born and bred in Scotland. He's obviously only changing his mind cause he knows he's not good enough to get a game for Ireland. He says its cause he wants to work with Levin again, what a load of pish. Rant over.

  12. he's had a great start to the season but guys like maloney, mccormack and commons are well ahead of him. i'd much rather see bannan, murphy or maguire get a chance as well.

Maloney - cant understand why dorrans who has mainly been making substitute apperances for West Brom and is playing nowhere near his best got a start in Prague ahead of Maloney who is in some of the best form of his career for Celtic at the moment.

U21's - all three mentioned looked quality last night and these are the sorts of players I personally would like to see getting a chance in the Scotland team. Most of the Iceland U21's are also playing at full international level and I don't think Scotland are miles ahead of Iceland at that level.

Humphrey - a good player for Motherwell, not yet any international class player. I know a cap would mean more money for Motherwell in the future but the SCOTTISH players above deserve to feature before him.

  13. Probably a load of pish but after Friday i think he could get a game for Scotland. The czech game was simply terrible and pace is one thing (amoungst many attributes) that Scotland are lacking in.

Read the full article this morning and there is a quote from Humph saying that he would play for Scotland, pretty sure its illegal for hacks to make up direct quotes.

  14. This games worrying me bit, mostly due to past experiences with St Midden and the fact we are sitting 3rd at the moment. Hopefully the lads are fired up and can go out and get our first 3 points at Fir Park but just feel this might be a possible banana skin and I'm usually optimistic with Motherwell.

  15. Whats the history behind most 'Well fan's (on here) hatred of Hearts (or FHW, apparently)? I hate the OF, Accies, Airdrie and Hibs more than FHW. But I think I just dislike Jambos in the same way as I dislike all our other rivals/fans ie Not much love, but no real specific hatred.

I've asked loads of my mates who are 'Well fans and have been for plenty years, but no-one can tell me why we hate them, they just say "'Cause we do!"

Has something happened in years gone by to make us hate them more than the likes of Utd, Killie, St. Midden etc?

    Simply Gorgie scum....
