A guaranteed spot in conference group would be pretty good. Of course I wouldnt really have to deal with all the gloating and related shite on a daily basis being over here. Suppose I’ll just deal with it whatever way it pans out. Although there is a wee bit of a twist in that we have been supporting west Ham for a long long time since way back we could only get to watch EPL games. I’d be good with Hammers winning Europa and Motherwell advancing in conference competition.

Let’s hope St Mirren win the battle

Some interesting choices for the post split fixtures, especially with KVV out for the first 2 games. Lately been a lot of posts harping on getting a settled team selection, formation and style (me included) but with opposition and KVV missing to start with is this a time where we mix and match or so we stick with 4-3-3 and just try to replace like with like? With KVV out and defensive worries would we change to a 3-5-2 or go 4-4-2? Would we keep same line up/tactics v Rangers and Utd? Tierney, O’Hara and Woolery all made a difference when they came in at Livi. Do any of them start? How do we approach the rangers game? High press? Attack them? Park the bus? Try to play football? Resort to howf and chase? Lots of things for Alexander to consider.

I thought Carroll was better than McGinley but since he got his starting place back I have to say I have been very disappointed. Offering zero going forward and continually caught out of position or on wrong side of attacker. Only the one showing but I’d go with O’Donnell at left back for the remaining games. Not ideal but at the moment I’d say best option for back four is Mugabi Sol Lamie O’Donnell.

Are we also including Goal line technology? I agree with earlier poster saying if there is no daylight between the bodies is a good standard although it then comes down to determining if there is space or not but it would cover the majority of situations. I would also say for those instances if it’s not obvious, they give benefit of doubt to the attacker. Quick look, “oh look at that gap” OFFSIDE. Clearly no gap, ONSIDE. “Oh there might be a gap, I’m not sure” ONSIDE. should be matter of a few seconds none of this red and green lines microscopic analysis. As four fouls etc still going to come to opinions a lot, I think.

Related to the VAR topic. When they do the offside check, are they looking at furthest part of the body (even arm or hand or whatever) or are they comparing position of the feet? Seems to come down to some hairline decisions and I’m not sure what the rules or guidelines are.

Not the best set of fixtures we could have got. Play both your rivals away. Then they play each other in the last game. Let’s hope they don’t both need a draw to end up 4th and 5th. Still, it’s up to us to make sure the last game does not pan out like that. COYW !!!

When do they publish the schedule?

I’m an advocate of playing football and winning games. I think we would have won more games had we tried to play football than we have done using the eye bleeding approach.

Hope she enjoys herself.

Dreadful first half today. Didn’t see Effords in the game at all. Only midfielder I noticed was Cornelius and he kept giving the ball away. Carrol a bit suspect again at the first goal. KVV not contributing much. Second half took me 15 mins before I realized O’Hara was on. Once Woolery came on we started to look a bit better. Goss and Slattery got involved more and we were much improved. Tierney was an improvement also. Well done on the comeback. Delighted to be in top 6 but as I’ve mentioned before I think we are despite what GA has been doing rather than because of what he has been doing.

I almost stopped watching but stuck with it. My other choice was sitting in the living room with Pearl! Still, I’d rather be shite in the top 6 than in the bottom 6. Just keep hoping GA will finally decide to go with a more footballing approach at some point.
-
Woolery made a difference but not sure why it took so long to put him on. Still, great to be in top 6. I do think GA needs to change his approach a bit. We played several good games this season but he certainly seems to favor the kick and rush option. Yes we got top 6 but I think we would have clinched that a long time ago had he focused more on some football. Fingers crossed he starts to develop a more pleasing brand of football while maintaining and improving results. I will certainly enjoy the weekend much more now, after seeing us clinch top 6. COYW!!

It’s all about the result. LOL
-
Haven’t seen Effords at all.
-
Absolute pish
-
Been mentioned it’s all about the result and not the performance but from we have seen so far it’s very difficult to see us getting any kind of beneficial result. We are dreadful. Zero shots on target first half and not even looking close to dangerous.
-
Letting ourselves down badly here.
-
Wouldn’t know that slattery Goss or effords are on the pitch

Back to long hopeless balls

I’m hoping we can put this one to bed early and then sit back and enjoy watching the live table shifting about below us.
-
Put your short guys on the post. Not like they are going to win any heading duels. Leave speedy guy up the park.
-
Really? We did not concede a goal from 170 corners? You might be right but without checking that’s a difficult stat for me to believe. I’m with Yodo on leave a man up the park. Of course I’m also a “put men on the post” proponent which the pros don’t seem to do anymore.
-
Hopefully get a good support thru for this and even more so, hoping to send them home very happy. If we can continue the good play from Saturday and improve on our defensive display it should be a good day for us. COYW!!

So if we manage to maintain top 6 after next week, I think it’s not so much that the manager deserves congratulations and pats on the back because sometimes you can achieve things despite what you do as opposed to because of what you do. I hope he decides to stick with the attempt to play football rather than the eye bleeding fare that’s been on display too often this season.
