. Yep! Agree
-
With 6 games left I am not so sure since 4 of them are St Johnstone, Inverness, Aberdeen and Celtic plus St Mirren and Hearts However I would expect them to get at 9 to 12 points from that So we certainly need to keep picking up points
-
I can't recall when the fence went up but prior to that the fans would stand behind the opposing goalie's net then at half time both sets of fans would walk round to the other end. Hmmmmm wonder why they stopped that????

At the moment we are are the third best team in the league. Say what you like about other teams play better or whatever but the cold hard fact says, at the moment, we are better than them all bar Aberdeen and Celtic. I think we are all guilty of it from time to time) ok maybe a lot of the time ) but the results and league table are the facts. How many times have you heard "the best team got beat" Sorry! but the best team is the one that scores the most goals. Likewise the best team in the league is the one with the most points. Now are other teams more entertaining? Probably so but are they better? Other than Aberdeen and Celtic the factual answer is No. EDIT: Apologies to the forum for resorting to facts.

Good point ! I was forgetting that we are actually 100%
-
doesn't matter if you beat top 6 or bottom 6 team it's how many games you win. The other teams also play the same bottom 6 teams, so yes, we can lament our form against the top 6 teams but our record against the bottom 6 teams is outstanding and obviously better than any of the other top 6 teams bar Celtic. Of course having said that we could be up shit creek without a paddle after the split since we wont get to play any bottom 6 teams As someone else mentioned, March is a big month. 4 home games and 1 away to Hibs. Chance to steady the ship and gather some points in the run up to the split. But certainly we need to up the performance level from the last 2 games. I still think we can finish 2nd or 3rd but that remains to be seen.

Regardless of what the rest of the team selection/formation is, Hammell needs to go to left back !!
-
Agree on 1st point Second point, not only was Hammll shoved in the face but utd player's hand was right over his eyes so hard to blame him too much when he could not see anything 3rd I would say is McFadden. The wall was set up pretty well. You are not supposed to jump out of the way of the ball. But as far as I am concerned. Bad performance, try to eliminate the mistakes for future games and St Johnstone here we come. Being Motherwell, we have to expect some bad performances and this was one of them. Maybe we are getting too used to winning ??? Progress in itself even thinking that could be the case as a Well fan

if we can get a good result on Tuesday it could be a very good night for us

it's on live here at 1.45pm Fox soccer plus So i need to decide from the following Sick day Work from home Leave early vacation day Record and watch later ( laready set up to record just in case ) I don't care which one I pick as long as we get something from the game.

I suppose whichever way you look at it, with the lack of fit first choice players there is going to be a weakness somewhere defensively. McCall has to work out the best way to minimize the weakness. From what little I have seen of Utd I thought their strength was the wide players but you may be right.
-
Agree with that, whether they are back or not. Moving Hammell to the right means we have 2 weak flanks. I would put Hammell back to the left anyway. If they are out I'd put Carswell to rightback. Lawson and Huchie helping him out. I thought of pulling Ainsworth putting Mcfadden there and playing Sutton since Lionel is not going to be much help to Carswell. However, since we have a weak right defensive flank then the best approach would be to attack more than we have to defend. But I think Carswell at right back would be much better than moving Hammell there. Also, I think with Ainsworth, Anier and Angol being pretty mobile would be good targets for Mcfadden and Lawson to pick out with through balls or balls in behind the defense and of course for quick counter attacks. i think I'd go with the team below if Ramsden, Kerr and Lasley are out Neilsen Carswell Hutchie McManus Hammell Ainsworth Lawson Vigurs Angol McFadden Anier

I hope he has a stormer next week to help thistle to their first home win!!

Think big hansome John would be up to the task of playing centre half ??

Although brought up in this thread I think its not even so much about just this instance but rather that the money should be split more evenly anyway. it's not just about individual teams its about doing things to have a more competitive league and raise the standard. Celtic and Rangers can far out do the rest of the teams on gate money . The league has to find ways to even it up a bit so that as a product the SPFL is competitive ( or at least more than it is now ) and that in general the standard across all the clubs can be improved and brought closer to, currently, Celtic. Not only will it benefit all the othe teams but surely will benefit Celtic as well in the sense that they wil be playing stronger opposition week in week out. So I am not for changing mid stream during the season but I think it should be modfied for future seasons as a way of making progress to try and close the gap or stop it widening. So that's really the point that irks me, is that Celtic seem intent on keeping all the money they can and the governing body and/or the rest of teams are happy with that. The payouts for position needs to be redone to spread the money more evenly because Celtic need the league as much as it needs Celtic and Celtic can help themselves by helping the teams become more competitive.
-
So while we areoff on a tangent, sill somewhat related though, when things changed from SPL to SPFL did the rdiclous 11 - 1 voting system carry over ?
-
Right off the bat it irks me that first place money for Celtic was left alone when deciding to "compensate" all the clubs for loss of revenue due to Rangers not being in the league !
-
I think thats the crux of the discussion. I think some people would disagree with your statement. I agree about not giving him dogs abuse at the game but at the same time I am not sure that he qualifies under your statement. However, I have got to assume that he is fully aware that his performances need to improve and that he will be doing what he can to make that happen. Maybe it's fair or maybe it's not but the only way to get people off his back is to perform better. ( maybe he should give Mr Higdon a quick call ? )
-
While I agree with your statement Spider, ( as I mentioned in my earlier post ) there's about as much chance of that happening as there is of Nielsen catching a ball.......Sorry' couldn't stop myself ! Nielsen is going to have to step up and earn the confidence and respect from the fans. Your sentiment could also be applied to referee's but I don't think I need to comment on that chances of that ever happening !
-
Well bottom line is, he has 3 weeks practise to work on his game before he is under scrutiny again. Unfortunate maybe but I think the punters will be more inclinded to dish out pelters rather than any encouragment so I think the ball is firmly in his court. He is going to have to win over the fans by improving and playing well. Which really is what he should be doing anyway. between him and Marshall they got to list the problems and determine how to fix them. That includes the mental side as well as the physical side.
-
From what I saw on the highlights, I didn't think it was a bad tackle at all. I think he fell awkwardly but thats about it.
-
without trying too hard I can recal from the short set of highlights on you tube that Aberdeen hit the post and we cleared 2 off the line
-
Just watched the highlights on you tube. While there may be other contributing factors to the 2 goals we conceded I think the goalie has to shoulder the largest percentage. The first goal, I am not sure how he even managed to knock it back towards the middle ! The second goal he is just posted missing. Having said that let's hope he improves as some of the other players have done. Since it's unlikely we will get another keeper the rest of the team will just have to step it up a notch to compensate till he improves or we get another keeper.
-
Brazil always used to have dodgy keepers but it never stopped them wining the world cup. While it can make a big difference to have a good goalkeeper it seems that we are in the position where the rest of the team are going to have to make up for our shortcomings in the goalie department. work extra hard in defence to deny the opposiiton opportunities and put away our chances up front to make sure we end up scoring more goals than our opponents. Of course the midfield have to chip in at both ends. Even with the goalkeeping situation as it is, I still think the team as a whole, are capable of finishing second or third.
