  1. Just some historical facts from the past 14 years in the SPL to make us appreciate how well the team have done this season. 12 seasons with negative goal diff. 11/12 +5 and 7/8 +4 The 2 seasons we finished 3rd. ( This season +15 with 4 games to go ) Most goals 55 in 5/6 finished 8th with GD -6 (This season 59 with 4 games to go ) Least goals conceded 44 11/12 finished 3rd with GD +5 ( This season 44 with 4 games to go ) Most points 62 11/12 finished 3rd with GD +5 ( This season 57 with 4 games to go ) So best season for Goals scored, Not too far off on the goals conceded ( hopefully ) Good chance of being best season for goal difference, points and position
  2. or a crystal ball...............and we are in for a great end to the season ??
  3. I'm giving my vote to Hately. he took a bit of a roasting the first half but stuck at it and I thought he completely turned it around the second half and played very well against one of the more talented players in the league.
  4. Since we play on the Sunday next week, if St Johnstone and county tie tomorrow then get beat Next week we will be in europe before the kick off against Celtic but would prefer for us to clinch a euro spot by beating celtic.
  5. Yes it seemd like both teams were just camping out in each others penalty area and was literally end to end stuff
  6. Where was the Ashy in north lodge? I lived in Coursington tower down by Calder park but would run up to north lodge and we would play in the park at George street i think it was called. That would be about '70 - ,73
  7. We better win! I've taken the day off to watch it on the telly. 2 for 2 so far with Celtic and Hibs games!!
  8. regardless of their motives, what they said is bang on. But as you say will they vote for the items as listed if it comes to it? I think they will.... and I believe that all teams should vote yes to those items. of course Celtic will not but why would any othe rteam not go along with that. Then with some things sorted they can address reconstruction and if it is even required.
  9. For me I don't care either way, the main thing is you know what you are playing for bfore the season begins. So regardless of league or play offs as long as you know the rules then I'm ok either way. However one thing for me with the split as it is just now is that there are no defined rules, so its in the bapance how many home games you get and against who. As for the current situation, for me it should not be about re construction but more about 1. One soccer body 2. Even distribution of money 3. Sort the voting structure I don't think that tinkering with the league structure wil solve any problems but if they want to have a go at it again I do not see the need to rush it so stay as we are for next season and fix a few other things while we all determine if league reconstruction is the way to go or not. Personally i belive not.
  10. I don't think it's cherry picking, I think it's separating reconstruction from everything else. Ther are some things that need fixed and can be fixed quickly. Reconstruction is not one of them.
  11. Hey, I'm at work here trying to get stuff done, I can't be reading every single word !
  12. I tend to agree with the earlier post from JWfanclub that the 3 items below should be voted upon and hopefully changed. These certainly could be separated from re-construction and I think should be. There is no reason to rush through some hairbrained clusterfk of an idea to have reconstruction in place for next season. Take some time and discussion and really determine what changes would benefit the game in Scotland. Meantime fix the 3 items below 1. One league body. 2. Financial redistribution. 3. Change to voting structure
  13. or of course Jim Spence could be tweeting shite!............... or is he pretty reliable?
  14. other than celtic wining the league, this is a very enthralling run in to the end of the season. I am not putting any of my hard earned money ( or money from my wages ) near any of these games. Every one is very hard to predict and each game wil come down to who turns up to play on the day.
  15. Of course I was thinking along those lines about Kilmarnock getting 6th place.
  16. So with it being 2 weeks to our next game it gives us plenty time to make our predictions. Will we get second? Will we make europe? How many league goals will Higdon end up with? Can we beat Celtic twice in the one season? We have now gone 6 games without defeat, can we continue that run and for how long? For what it's worth here is a mini points table based on the games played between the top 6 teams. In brackets is the number of points we got from each team. Motherwell 26 Celtic 25 ( 3 ) Caley 18 ( 9 ) Utd. 17 ( 3 ) St J. 16 ( 7 ) County 15 ( 4 ) I think the league will end up Celtic Motherwell Caley Utd. St J. County I think Higdon will reach 26 goals and we will beat Celtic for a second time.
  17. i'd be raging if i was a killie fan. They well and truly F'd it up. Bottom 2 teams at home. I was also in the camp of giving 6th place to killie.
  18. many possible permutations but I think you are alluding to the fact that we may not need 10 points since you did state Max of 10. reading between the lines I tihnk you are saying that it is unlikely that both count and caley will get to 63 or 66. Regardless, i suppose we just keep on trying to win 1 game at a time and hope our rivals drop points. Excellent chance tomorrow to widen the gap between us and inverness and posisbly county if they drop points against hearts, which I think they will. So a win could put us 10 points ahead of a non european spot with only 15 to play for. Play and beat that team ( St J or County ) the first game after the split and european spot could be guranteed as we would be 13 ahead with only 12 to play for. That would leave just the battle for second place. edit: Ok not quite. We would have to reply on the other one of StJ or County to also drop points in the first post game split. So a victory against St Mirren would be a huge result for us. I am feeling strangely confident that we will uncharateristically beat them quite soundly. I think the guys will be up for this, Higgy will be fired up to maintain leading goal scorer and to break the motherwell record. Faddy will add that bit of flair and magic. I think tomorrow is going be a great day to be a motherwell supporter!!!!!!!
  19. I think we are due to give St Midden good scudding. I'm going for at least 3 goals and Higgy on the score sheet a couple of times. Not over confident, we will wil ahve to play good but I think we are focused and ready for the task.
  20. This is all I seen on the SPL website. You think they might have had an explanation regarding possible options depending on Scottish cup outcom! European places for 2013/14 Scotland are currently 18th in the UEFA country ranking list which means the following in terms of qualification for the 2013/14 European competitions: SPL winners Champions League Qualifying Round 2 - July 16/17 & 23/23 Runners-up Europa League Qualifying Round 2 - July 18 & 25 Third place Europa League Qualifying Round 2 - July 18 & 25 Scottish Cup winners Europa League Qualifying Round 3 - August 1 & 8
  21. 6th place is Kilmarnock's to loose. I would have said they were a stick on to make it, but then I looked at their results. 2 games 0-0 against Dundee Against StMirren they drew one and did actually win the other one. So not a foregone conclusion yet but if i had to bet, i'd put money on Killie securing 6th place. I hope Killie draw both games and then Aberdeen and Dundee Utd do each other out of 6th place by only managing a draw!
  22. Yes! that would be excellent. Equal the record. Score third hat trick this season ( when did that happen last? ) Zoom out in front of SPL top scorers C'Mon Higgy!!!
