  1. That article is just words. If they really believe what they wrote we would be getting clear communications at least post match as to how controversial decisions were arrived at. Basically, help us all understand the rules. However that might result in us all finding out that the refs are totally inconsistent
  2. The ref can still pull a goal back for handball by a player in the lead up. Of course you my be right, in that Collum has totally F’d up and and done as you suggest. The other option is that he decide it was deliberate hand ball by Bair, which is just as bad or worse than the other possibility. The defender heads the ball (going at a fair speed) on to Bair’s hand/arm from literally inches away so how can it be deliberate hand ball??
  3. Not so sure they’ve tightened up at the back, we scorned a decent number of chances.
  4. Disagree that scoring goals has been our problem. It’s one of our better attributes. However, today we certainly failed on that front but for the season in general it has not been an issue for us.
  5. Big part of the problem is also the inconsistent decisions on similar incidents from week to week and also within games. If it’s not deliberate handball they should be ignoring it. Both incidents today were not deliberate hand ball.
  6. Obviously our downfall today was, we didn’t score. Not many games we don’t score but just wasn’t working today. Spittal was a bit off, Bair’s touch was lacking. We didn’t seem to play as a unit and looked disjointed. Top 6 probably gone but let’s hope we pick back up again next game. No surprise today really, we are consistently inconsistent!
  7. Also, was expecting at least 5 mins stoppage time
  8. Other than everybody saw Shinnie’s and no one saw Bair’s but yet one is called and one is not. Would at least be good to have the officials explain the different outcome for the two instances
  9. So how is that not a pk when our goal is disallowed
  10. Only people who had issue with the goal was VAR 3 officials, players and managers all fine. But even after looking at it, how can that be deliberate hand ball the guy is up against Blair heads the ball off his hand. Ridiculous hand ball decision by the officials.
  11. Hopefully SK can get them fired up and playing better for the second half.
  12. Nice to get a wee bit of luck on a deflection
  13. They also played last weekend when we did not. So hopefully they are tired bruised and battered and we can take advantage and beat them soundly although any type of win for us will work, just as long as it’s 3 points.
  14. If they have a shortlist then Lennon will be on that 😅
  15. I may have to go download the rules again. So many changes over the past while I’m not 100% sure what they are anymore. I’m not sure if it’s included with the rules but FIFA also have guidelines on how the refs should apply the rules or Interpret them and that would be good to read also. I would assume that now there are also documents pertaining to VAR which might be interesting to read. Regardless Of what is out there, there is definitely an issue related to the consistency of some officiating calls which I think falls fair and square at the feet of the officials organization to sort out.
  16. I sometimes think of the referees in a little bit different way in that they are not so much there to make the correct calls (I know they are but hear me out 😃) but more so the be the person who picks the call when there is a disagreement. “He pulled me! No I didn’t he pushed me”! So the ref decides. “That was handball”, “No it wasn’t” so the ref decides. As stated above, there are numerous incident every game where the ref may make a correct call but one of the teams completely disagrees and many instances where both teams disagree with each other and so the ref is the one to make the call. I think there is a lot that could be done from both officiating side and club side if they really wanted to improve things.
  17. Let’s look at it a different way. Who do you think makes the most mistakes in a game? Players or the ref? Who is trying to deliberately cheat? The players. It might be said in less harsh terms but basically players routinely try to cheat. So maybe they sort themselves out before running the refs into the ground. I used to referee a lot of high school games her and often used the phrase, “once you’ve made less mistakes than me then I might listen to you”. That usually kept them quiet for a while. Especially when their mates found it funny!! Of course a lot tougher dealing with the pros, plus, at least the HS kids were trying to play an honest game.
  18. The challenge for him now is to see if he can keep up or improve his performances as teams will be paying more attention to him.
