  1. You also have to take into account the nostalgia factor. We all miss our youth, and anything that reminds us of that has a special place in our hearts. Thats why music these days is generally shite!
  2. Sorry for misunderstanding your point. I dont have massive expectations. I havent actually sat down and gone through who is still under contract and who has been offered new deals. However, it feels like we have about a dozen players who are sitting either injured or cooling their heels offering nothing. A number of these are loan players or short term contracts whom I presume will be allowed to leave. It may not be as many as that of course. I just presumed there mighy be a little leeway to bring one or 2 in of slightly higher quality that would improve the first 11 if we were clearing the decks of the deadwood.
  3. Living in Ayrshire and working with a shitload of Killie fans, I will take Rugby Park anyday. Its a great day out (when we win!)
  4. Hopefully a change in direction from bloated squad of journeymen, to a sleeker more streamlined squad with a sprinkling of quality, supported by our academy graduates!
  5. I dont think its wishful thinking at all. McGinley in particular has had it tough moving up here on his own stuck in a flat outwith his playing/training schedule, having to cope with that and then getting injured on top of it. I think there is a decent player in there and I would hope that as we come out of lockdown he might enjoy being here a bit more and that might help his performances on the field (which I dont think have been anywhere near as bad as some suggest). Lamie has improved dramatically since his early performances, probably due to getting a fair run in the team and an upturn in results. I think he is a decent squad player and can do us a turn. However, I think we should be looking to strengthen in centre defence, it all depends on who becomes available in our price range.
  6. Liam Kelly would be outstanding business.
  7. Stephen O'Donnell is a solid SPL level full back. Not a world beater, and against higher quality opposition he can get found out at times. However, anyone who thinks there is a queue of superior players lined up waiting to sign on at Fir Park needs a reality check. This is very good business for the club, not just from a playing perspective, but in raising or at least maintaining our profile as a club who can help players progress their careers. It may help attract some decent palyers in the summer.
  8. The rebuild will be interesting. Alexander has already indicated that he thinks the current squad is bloated, so not unreasonable to think that he may be planning a smaller squad with a few higher quality players in it ( if we can get them). It was the most frustrating part of Robinsons tenure that we appeared to waste any advances we had made by creating very unbalanced squads with no appreciable increase in quality. None more so than in the season following our 2 cup finals, when we were in a very strong financial position to build for the future. We clearly arent sitting as strong financially right now, but with the right strategy and some shrewd signings, we should still have an opportunity to improve.
  9. Id imagine same starting line up as last weekend unless there are injuries. Bite your hand off for any kind of win, but more than happy to draw our way to safety if needs be.
  10. As long as any available go to Well Society members first. After all we own the club!
  11. Pretty much everyone got pass marks with one or 2 really decent performances. Roberts had another very good game but MOTM was Lawless. The 90 mins will have done him the world of good. Hopefully he can make a similar impact in the remaining games.
  12. No idea who you could be talking about.....
  13. Add Maybole Juniors to the list!
  14. I think Bevis can do a job for us at our level and he is still young enough to improve and develop with gametime. Given that it looks.like we will be replacing a lot of players for next season, getting some core business done early is sensible.
  15. Regardless of what the truth is, there is no denying that Gallagher has slipped down the pecking order in the squad. With both Hanley and Hendry playing regularly with their clubs and now in possession of the jerseys, he will have a fight on his hands to get his place back. The squad might also need trimmed for the finals. Its not unreasonable to think that one or two of the 7 players able to play centre half from this week might not make the final cut.
  16. Double denim is such a fashion faux pas!
  17. Cornelius would certainly benefit from being out on loan. It may also benefit the team for next season as Campbell will likely be away and there could be a clear out of a few others. It would be crazy to sign someone else without giving whats under our nose a proper chance. Ive no idea whether the boy will be good enough as we have barely seen him. But a run of gamrs between now and the end of the season at a lower league club might give us an idea.
  18. Did you miss the bit where I posted that Coyne got capped for Ireland 2 years before Shearer got capped for Scotland? Edit: John McGinley also gained his first cap in 1994. So neither of them deprived Tommy Coyne of a Scotland cap or got picked in front of him.
  19. I like Dunne but he has barely been fit the entire time he has been here and had a fairly poor injury record before he arrived. Unfortunately I just dont think he is a guy we can take any more risk on. I think we have done the right thing by keeping him on the payroll until he can get himself sorted, but that generosity has to run out at some point. Cole is a no brainer to keep if he isnt already thinking he can do better....
  20. Coyne made his debut for Ireland in 1992 aged 31. Duncan Shearer made his debut for Scotland in 1994. Coyne was effectively trying to get capped for Scotland in an era that included Jordan, Dalglish, Andy Gray, Graham Sharp, Ally McCoist, Maurice Johnston, Charlie Nicholas. Much as I love the Cobra and would love him to have played for Scotland, thats pretty stiff competition. Nesbit is a young man just starting out in his career, how do you know he wont make the grade?
  21. "Purity Law" ? Lets not go down that road. Its called International football for a reason....
  22. 100% agree that the grandparent rule should be gone, but parents has to be allowed. If I was living down south and my kids were good enough to play for Scotland please dont tell me they wouldnt be Scottish! I dont agree re Dykes, he is Australian, but both his parents are Scottish. His father is from Dumfries and he has family there. To say he didnt develop playing in Scotland is also incorrect. He is only 25 and spent the last 5 years playing for Queen of the South and Livingston before getting his move south. Im not saying for a minute he doesnt feel Australian, but he has chosen to play for Scotland over them so I wouldnt be putting him in the same basket as some of the others you are referring to that should never have been picked. Re the list of players whom you say we have missed out on, McGeady never wanted to play for Scotland. His parents are Irish, he felt Irish, so he chose them. No issues with that. Likewise McCarthy got selected for Ireland when he was a youth, and chose to stay loyal to them for giving him his chance. Houghton and Coyne played in an era where there were Scots players of similar if not greater ability than them, they didnt miss out because of "fake Scots". Overall I agree with your point, just not the examples given.....
  23. Must not lose. A 10 point advantage going into the split would have to see us clear of automatic relagation you would think. A win puts us in dreamland!
