  1. Not blaming Robinson at all. He made a decision. Thats what he was paid to do. But he got rid of Lionel and we have had a procession of wingers come throught the club who couldnt lace his boots and werent any better in terms of consistency or defensive capabilities.
  2. Darren Fletcher. Faddy can put out the cones!
  3. Could we just have a young energetic manager with some playing pedigree and fresh ideas? Not asking for much!
  4. Jason Cummings has talent and bags of confidence but much like Watt, I would question his attitude. However, given than Robinson has managed to get into Watts head and keep him focused, it would certainly be an interesting signing. Ross Stewart is an interesting one too. He has always impressed me any time we have played County, so I would be surprised they would be willing to let him go. I see his contract is up in May though, so maybe he was already going to sign a pre contract and we have been able to tempt them with Seedorf and White! Edit: Of course, there was talk that Polworth wanted back north.....
  5. I presume we have been pretty frugal with our money this season due to Covid, but now needs must as a drop into the championship would be disastrous financially. I do expect a few players to be moved on though.
  6. Tony Watt. Really feel for him right now. Finally got himself fit and his head in the right place and he is surrounded by mediocrity.
  7. Lionel was a very frustrating player. His work rate and desire to track back and defend were always questionable but when you watch that back no one can deny his quality. We have no one in our current squad with that level of technical ability. Id have him back in a heartbeat.
  8. I think the number has just been lifted from one of Robinsons interviews the other day. Sure it was reported that there were 2 or 3 more or less over the line.
  9. Didnt want to post a kneejerk reaction last night as things were still raw. So have taken some time to reflect on the game and my thoughts are as follows. We started the game ok. Not great, but ok. We looked like the team in control of the game and although we didnt create many chances we were looking like the team more likely to score. Then Kilmarnock did, with their first clear cut chance of the game. The concerning thing for me is that we should have seen a reaction to that, particularly after half time, but we didnt and, after the penalty and the red card, the whole thing just unravelled. Like so many games this season, we are a team that just doesnt cope with adversity. Im finding it really difficult to comprehend how this is even possible from a Robinson team? When he first came in, he put great stock on the character of players and you could see that reflected in our style of play. It wasnt pretty at times, but the opposition knew they had been in a game with us. Fir Park was a hard place to come. Where are the Bowmans, the Hartleys, the Curtis Mains in this squad? Not the best technical players, but they new what they were good at and used it to their advantage. This team has no identity. Also the subs, again! I know the red card and the injury to Carson limited options but in what world would anyone think that putting White on for Cole is gonna improve the situation? Carroll for Grimmy? A left back for a left back? Those subs smack of acceptance that the game is gone and we are giving players a run out to get minutes in their legs. Hastie, Lang, Cornelius could all have come on and allowed us to change the shape and at least give Kilmarnock something different to think about. Taking Crawford off as well when Campbell was clearly having a much poorer game? Madness. Im afraid that Robbo seems to have totally lost his way. He has forgotten all the things that have gotten him success and appears blinded to which players he can trust and those he cant. He has the Accies game and the 3 new signings to convince me that he can turn this around. If he fails with either / both I will be forced to resign my Happy Clapper status.
  10. Today is a huge game for us. We need to keep up the level of performance we have seen in the Aberdeen and Dundee United games and try to be more clinical in front of goal. Happy to go with the same team again, only change I would make is Cole for Lang. I think we will get more out of Watt in the final 3rd if he isnt being asked to do all the hold up play himself. No idea just how bad Killie have been recently but a lot of their supporters appear wuite despondent about how things are going. However, we've all read that book before!
  11. Or nearly another 3 weeks to hear the appeal......
  12. Jim McLean won the league and got a provincial Scottish club to the semi finals of the European Cup! Just think about that for a minute. RIP Jim. Actual Scottish football legend.
  13. Carson, O'Donnell, Grimshaw and Crawford all played well. Buy its Tony Watt by a mile. Imagine how good he could be if we ever get him any support.....
  14. That was so frustrating. Better team, better chances, looked really comfortable, didnt put the game to bed and the inevitible happens. Our decision making in the final third is costing us big time. Main culprits today were Lang, who should have played Polworth in on goal in the 2nd half and O'Donnell for the shot that others have already covered. But in truth you could pick out multiple offenders over the whole season. But yet again the subs! I really dont know what to say about them. White may not have lost us the game, but if you are the manager and you have the choice of Cole, Hastie or White and you choose the latter? Similarly with Cornelius. I was delighted to see him getting some game time, but if you are the manager and havent seen fit to play him in 588 days and you are trying to see out a 1-0 win for a vital 3 points, is that really the time you chose to throw the youngster on, especially when you have the vastly more experienced Maguire as an alternative? Im not in the Robbo out camp. Never have been and it would take quite a lot to get me there, but he cost us that game today with those subs and if he keeps doing it the pressure will continue to mount on him.
  15. This has been a bugbear of mine all season. When was the last time you saw us take a quick throw up the line and look for a knock on? We always wait way too long and the opposition defence are back in position. Its torture!
  16. Tony Watt. Working his arse off with little or no support. Happy to say my judgement of his character pre signing for us was spectacularly wrong. I think he needs Cole alongside him as a foil though. Lang and Long have offered him nothing.
  17. I think we can agree that you could see the goal coming. That being the case, you need to change it, otherwise you accept the inevitible. Im not suggesting a change wasnt needed, it clearly was. But most on here have identified this was happening because we were sat too deep. We needed a change to get us further up the park to take the pressure off the defence a little. What we got was one of our most willing runners taken off for another defender. I just dont get the logic in that?
  18. I was a little surprised by the line up and the tactics from the start, but the early goal and the disciplined and dogged defending to half time more than justified the mamagers decisions. It wasnt pretty to watch at times, but it was winning football and Rangers struggled to break us down. 2nd half we seemed to be getting deeper and deeper and it was clear a change needed to be made before the inevitable happened. However, the manager got it totally wrong with his first 2 subs. We were desperate for an out ball and should have brought Cole on for either Lang or Watt. The change for McGinley made it even more difficult to get out of our area by removing one of our willing runners and totally upset the shape at the back. To then compound it by bringing White on instead of Cole was inexplicable. The guy may have had limited chances to prove himself, but if the manager doesnt know who the better player is between the 2 then we have a problem. All in all, a frustrating display as so much hard work was undone by some poor decisions.
  19. Between SOD, Watt and Lang for me. The whole team worked hard and were incredibly disciplined for the most part, but those 3 had the extra bit of quality that got us up the park on the rare occasions we made it into Rangers half. I went for Watt as he was the one with the game intelligence to draw fouls where he could and knew when to speed up the play or slow it down.
  20. I think you are confusing me with one of the glass half empty brigade. Im not saying that the signing policy hasnt delivered on the balance sheet, and Im not advocating the manager or anyone else be sacked. But no one can argue that the quality on show at times hasnt been great to watch. Given that we are in the entertaiment business and the vast majority of the revenue we get comes from paying customers and our league position, I dont see it as a particularly left field suggestion that we at least assess whether a different approach might achieve better results. Not saying it would be easy. I know every other club in Scotland is in the same position, but the turnover of players we have had in the last few years is incredible.....
  21. There definitely needs to be a rethink on our signing policy. We appear to trawl the market and bring in more players than we need in the hope that one or two will make it. That seems a waste of resource. Id much prefer that we scour the market, identify one or two of decent quality and push the boat out to get them in. If we have a few with experience and / or quality and supplement them with youth, it will do far more for the development of our younger players and hopefully improve the product on the park.
  22. I think he has a some skill, but zero football intelligence, so pretty much the same result. Im sure he is a really nice guy, but if he can get a gig at Stoke or Reading he/we should bite their hands off!
  23. Still one of my greatest moments as a Well fan. Would definitely make my top 10! The game was shite, but having got up at 6am to drive north, the goal and absolute scenes at the end were worth it and will live with me forever! McAllister and Craigen giving it large in the commentary box was also brilliant!
  24. Only saw the 2nd half, but the 2 players that stood out for me were Maguire and Hastie. They were the ones trying to drive the game forward for us. Went for the much maligned Hastie as there were glimpses there of the player he could be with a run of games.
