I read it the other way around. Celtic and Rangers games have it. Ours and Aberdeens dont. https://www.aberdeenlive.news/sport/football/aberdeen-ditch-var-spartans-clash-9569061 -

Much as I love Moses and believe he deserves a start, Im not sure tonight is the place to try it out. Robinson does a lit of running and occupies defenders in a way I dont think Moses could. But for me, that means we should change our shape. Obviously notnhappening tonight, so will be happy if Miller is dropped back to his natural position and Vale pushed much closer to Robinson to give him some support. Not fussed whether its Tavares or Maswanhise on the other side. They are an obvious swap after 60 mins either way. -

Really looking forward to this now. Really pleased the efforts of the Well Society and the Club have payed off and it looks like we are gonna have a healthy attendance for what is actually quite a big game for us. As Steelboy points out we havent had a home quarter final since 2018, so they are not things that come around all the time. Since the 2 cup finals, our cup record has been pretty poor. It would be nice to rectify that tonight and get the win that takes us back to Hampden. Its a lovely night for a game under the lights. Lets get right behind the team from the off! Up The 'Well! ๐งกโค๏ธ๐งก -

To be fair, that particular post was more in response to Wellfans post than yours...... -

Apologies. I thought you were suggesting sales for this game were poor and that we should be selling more tickets than we have. -

For context. In season 93/94, the season we should have won the league, our average home attendance was 7894. That was inflated by 4 full houses of 14k v Celtic and Rangers. Our lowest attendance was a midweek game v St Johnstone and was 4527. The majority of attendances were between 5 - 7k. Prices were lower, there was little to no live tv away supports were decent. And that was our best league season in living memory. -

I do agree that a pay at the gate option would make things more convenient for some to attend, but Im not sure its an impediment to attending. It was an issue at the weekend, but as far as Im aware you can buy an e ticket right up to ko for this one. We have done the safeguarding issue to death. The club has taken a position on that as all other clubs have had to do. Derek says the Block E issue has been resolved. So maybe, just maybe, numbers are being limited as the game is live on tv...... -

Im not sure what you are basing your assessment on. Obviously, I want the home crowd to be as big as possible. But 4000 plus home fans when the game is no longer on the season ticket and the game is live on tv, doesnt seem that poor to me. We only have 4500 season ticket holders so pretty much all of them are coming. I remember when big cup games would draw around 10k. But there was no tv in those days so the only way to see the game in full was to go to the match. How many tickets do you think we should sell? -
Some really petty point scoring going on here today lads. Some of us are trying to stay out of it and talk about the fitba. Where we all stand on Kettlewell has been done to death.
-
Be interesting to see who they go for now. Will be a big steer on how they see the direction of the club.

Fairplay to pick that up out of the interview. I had to listen to it back twice to get my head around what he had just said!
-
Not surprised Levein has been sacked. Maybe just a little at how quick it has happened. Maybe the new American owner flexing his muscles and wanting his own man in? Just goes to show that experience isnt everything.

Good video. Maybe a bit OTT for a cup quarter final. But given the drive the Society have been on to try and increase the attendance, it cant do any harm. Not sure it will work with the game being live on tv but the naysayers cant complain about effort or intent. Well done. -
Im as frustrated as anyone with some of SKs initial team selections, some of his tactics and certainly last season, his in game management and substitutions. He isnt the perfect manager and he does a lot of stuff I dont agree with. But you have to look at it in the round and apply some balance and logic to any criticism offered. Saying our attacking play was poor for most of last season when we finished 3rd top scorers in the league just dilutes any credibility to what might be a decent argument if more balance was applied. Yes there may have been points last season when our attacking play was poor. But it evidently wasnt for most of it. How about giving some credit to the manager for tightening up a defence that was as leaky as a seive last season and look forward to the potential of our attacking play improving when all our midfielders and forwards are available for selection again (albeit thats likely to be nearer xmas).

Im not sure thats right. I watched that interview. Im sure he said he was learning a slightly different role than he was used to. Happy to be corrected though.

We were the 3rd top scorers in the league last season after Celtic and Rangers........ ๐๐๐

Why is Davor missing? I agree that Halliday has been much better the last few weeks, but it was a low bar and him and Davor in there together just arent physical or mobile enough. No issues if its Halliday and Miller or Davor and Miller. I agree that we shouldnt persevere with Robinson as a loan striker. Either give him some support thru the middle or play him wider in a 3 (or not at all, although that would be harsh given how isolated he has been on his own). -

Id forgotten about Tavares. I need to get myself a squad list so I dont forget everyone we have signed! Of course SK will stick with Robinson thru the middle and doesnt seem minded to drop any of his "leadership group" which I presume is why Halliday keeps getting picked. So it will probably be same again with some minor tweaks up top. -

Friday night is our biggest game of the season so far. A big game at home under the lights with a chance to get to a cup semi final at Hampden and the additional revenue that comes with that. We cant afford to be messing about. Our best 11 in their best positions from the off. Lets get at United, put them under pressure and play on the front foot. We are a much better team when we do that. Assuming Watt cant play, Id go with the following....... Ox McGinn Gordon Casey SOD Wilson Miller Davor Vale Moses Robinson Id keep Maswanhise as an impact player from the bench. He has been more effective from there later in games than he has been from the start. -
Did Ryan Jack go to Turkey? ๐ค

Certainly no idea about Koutroumbis. But based on his highlights reel and his 45 mins against Rangers Stama looks to have something about him. Different debate though.

PS The referee turned out to be the whistle/card happy pain in the arse predicted pre match.

Not too many stand outs this week. Some very average performances from most. The subs all improved us and mostly did well. Went for Ewen Wilson. Thought he stuck to his task today, despite being targetted by Aberdeen today. Put in some great last ditch challenges and tried to pass out from the back where he could. The young man is growing in stature.
