  1. It sounds like we had other options we could have signed sooner but hammell was holding out for penney.i think odonnell had started the season well and done enough to stay in the team but we definitely needed another full back, having a left footer to provide the right balance on that side is always a good thing.
  2. I don't know anything about penney but he has a decent enough cv,he's played a few games for the likes of sheffield wednesday,st pauli and Ipswich,it definitely looks like not a bad signing.
  3. From what we have seen of odonnell this season,I would have no problem with him being used at left back but we definitely need another full back as we're only one injury away from having to play either mugabi or lamie at full back and we don't want to be going back to they days.hammell has said he wants another striker in so hopefully that happens, van veen will be first choice so we won't be going out to try and replace him, someone that can do a decent job in the central area when required and take the burden off him is what we need for now.
  4. Snodgrass would be a good signing but I'll not be fussed if it doesn't happen, from the sounds of things we have got a few other options on the go anyway and were not pining our hopes on Snodgrass coming.
  5. Aye a clean sheet is always good to get,a lot has been made about that nouble and how much of a handful he is but I thought sol was excellent up against him today,he hardly gave him a kick.
  6. That was two teams cancelling each other out with a lot of stop start with niggly fouls, luckily we got the break and won the game which was always the most important thing today.big 3 points for us and we can continue the rebuild under hammy from another position of strength.
  7. It feels a much better environment since hammell came in and because of that we may see improvement in some players that it was never going to happen for under alexander,I'm happy enough if the squad as a whole gets the chance to impress.
  8. It sounds like we could be in for a busy couple of weeks with potential ins and outs,it's good too see the club are backing hammy.
  9. Were trying to sign robert snodgrass according to the sun
  10. I've never got the hype over allan,he was talked about as a youngster and it stuck despite him never really settling anywhere and doing the business for any length of time,he's very similar to tony watt.
  11. Were trying to sign Mckinstry on loan according to the evening times.
  12. Not that it matters now but I was reading something earlier that said it was nick montgomery of central coast mariners, was the other contracted coach that we had spoken too.
  13. There detached from reality that lot up there.there watching a team that has the likes of hayes and mcrorie in being managed by jim goodwin, what is it there expecting exactly that centre half that's there captain,he looks good value for some comedy moments this season.
  14. Same again, start on the front foot and be positive from the off,if we do that then there's no reason why we won't win next week.
  15. Spot on,we don't have the best players in the world but at the end of the day there professionals, let them go and play and do there thing, that was definitely a team playing with the shackles off today rather than the guff being served up under alexander.
  16. We will win and lose games along the way but that team today atleast had a bit of identity about them and something that as fans we can buy into and get behind.
  17. You would think they would be used to get beat off us by now
  18. That was the best we have played in a long time, that was really impressive.we actually looked like a team in and out of possession, our defensive shape was spot on and what a difference it makes getting bodies forward.if we can add a bit of quality to what's there then we should have no real worries going forward.
  19. Ya dancer, how good was that, trust us to bring the sheep shaggers back down to earth
  20. Old frailties coming back to haunt us there
  21. He has been excellent,it looks like he's enjoying having the freedom to get up the park, where before it looked like he wasn't allowed past the half way line.
  22. That's a team that's been allowed to go out and play with freedom, spittal and cornelius getting forward and shields getting into threatening positions, shame we conceded before half time but that has been very encouraging so far.
  23. Hammell has said we need a couple of attacking options, hopefully one of them is an out and out striker.van veen is decent enough for our level but the problem is were relying on him far to much,to be coming into a new season still relying on a 31 year old isnt good enough,I genuinely think if alexander stayed we would have signed another efford or shields type and still had to rely on van veen.hes inconsistent to the point where he's good one game then totally anonymous for the next three, throw in any injuries and inevitable suspensions then we simply have to sign another striker,a proper winger with a bit of pace would be ideal as well.
  24. Agreed,as things stand lamie is our most reliable centre half,we would just be creating another problem by moving him to left back, him and mugabi should be nowhere near the full back positions.im not a big fan of a right footer at left back but would be happy enough to go with either odonnell or mcginn there as back up to hopefully a new signing and one that's better than McGinley or Carroll.
  25. He wouldn't have been my first choice but he will get every bit of backing from me.i like how he's mentioned yet again that we need new players and that he's been identifying targets in case he got the job,he clearly feels the team isn't good enough which is absolutely true, let's hope he gets the right backing from the board to make that happen.
