  1. I think when we signed aarons, that pretty much confirmed that we won't be signing snodgrass.giving the injuries hearts have picked up already, there's a decent chance he could end up there.
  2. He seemed to have a bit of a patchy record with injuries before we signed him,it was always a bit of a gamble and i didn't pay off.like you I thought he looked promising early on,the game we won at pittodrie last season,he was excellent then went off injured and hardly had a kick since.best of luck to him, hopefully he can find somewhere and stay injury free.
  3. We will be active before the window shuts according to hammy,he even said something could happen tonight.
  4. Really professional job by us tonight, that was as comfortable as game as it gets.pity about the draw,no doubt the game will be on tele with a decent crowd so we should make a few quid if nothing else but we're at home if we have any chance of beating them that's where it will happen.
  5. I'm happy enough with that,a player that can actually go past the opposition,he's definitely an upgrade on the likes of shields and efford.
  6. That killie left back looked decent enough but he couldn't have asked for better opponent to be up against, shields did nothing in an attacking sense and didn't track back once, the boy will have much harder games than that.
  7. I watched there game at firhill a couple of weeks ago and they were terrible but this still has the feel of a potential banana skin for us.i would like to see a couple of changes at most and get the job done and get into the next round.
  8. Speaking of jack ross,I see there getting pumped again today, anything other than 3 points against them next week will be disappointing.
  9. It definitely is fine margins in most games throughout the season, really poor defending has cost us against st Johnstone and then again today,we were excellent at pittodrie but still gave away two soft goals, thankfully we fell on the right side of the line that day and got a result.its small steps but I think we're moving in the right direction but we simply have to tighten up at the back,I hope today also shows that we don't need to sit off the opposition and invite pressure,we can cause plenty of problems going the other way.snodgrass would be a bonus at this stage though I don't see it happening but I think we will sign a couple of attackers whatever happens, hopefully mckinstry just missed out today and we can get him some minutes against Inverness.
  10. Good post and similar thoughts to mine.i thought we started the game well and eventually scored a really well worked goal but after that we seemed to drop about 5 yards back and we're happy to just sit in and look to defend,I actually think if we had scored a second we would have won that comfortably.if you sit in to defend more often than not it will come back to bite you and that's what happened to us,especially as we still look to be dodgy at centre half, that's some poor goals we have already conceded this season.the subs that got brought on were dire, especially efford and morris, neither offered anything and we were far worse when they came on the park, hopefully hammell gets in the striker and winger that he wants and get mckinstry upto speed we will have far better options to choose from.despite the defeat I think we're heading in the right direction,if we can somehow make ourselves a bit harder to score against them I think we can have a good season.im actually looking forward to our next game already,I never thought I would be saying that after the sligo games.
  11. Hammell mentioned yesterday that he's looking for a winger and a striker, hopefully he can make that happen as we definitely need another couple of options up front.i would like to see efford moved on but not sure that will happen,he was a headless chicken when he came on today, sadly him and shields are far to similar.im not sure what morris is going to offer us,he looks the type that come the end of the season we still won't know what his position really is.kilmarnock are shite, there was no need to be sitting in trying to defend that lead,we really need to sharpen up at the back though, that's a few soft goals we have gave away already this season.
  12. We threw that game away with conceding two of the softest goals we will see all season.today shows that we need too add a couple of better players before the transfer window shuts, the options from the bench just aren't good enough, efford and morris in particular offered nothing when they came on.
  13. I totally agree with that, the only thing missing has been a cup win but we have been unfortunate that we have met the old firm in recent cup finals, take st Johnstone when they won both cups,to play teams similar to themselves in they finals was a huge slice of luck.we have achieved more paying modest wages than we ever did when boyle was throwing millions about and paying big wages, trying to find some gems and bringing through our own youth players will always be the way forward for us.
  14. It sounds like we had other options we could have signed sooner but hammell was holding out for penney.i think odonnell had started the season well and done enough to stay in the team but we definitely needed another full back, having a left footer to provide the right balance on that side is always a good thing.
  15. I don't know anything about penney but he has a decent enough cv,he's played a few games for the likes of sheffield wednesday,st pauli and Ipswich,it definitely looks like not a bad signing.
  16. From what we have seen of odonnell this season,I would have no problem with him being used at left back but we definitely need another full back as we're only one injury away from having to play either mugabi or lamie at full back and we don't want to be going back to they days.hammell has said he wants another striker in so hopefully that happens, van veen will be first choice so we won't be going out to try and replace him, someone that can do a decent job in the central area when required and take the burden off him is what we need for now.
  17. Snodgrass would be a good signing but I'll not be fussed if it doesn't happen, from the sounds of things we have got a few other options on the go anyway and were not pining our hopes on Snodgrass coming.
  18. Aye a clean sheet is always good to get,a lot has been made about that nouble and how much of a handful he is but I thought sol was excellent up against him today,he hardly gave him a kick.
  19. That was two teams cancelling each other out with a lot of stop start with niggly fouls, luckily we got the break and won the game which was always the most important thing today.big 3 points for us and we can continue the rebuild under hammy from another position of strength.
  20. It feels a much better environment since hammell came in and because of that we may see improvement in some players that it was never going to happen for under alexander,I'm happy enough if the squad as a whole gets the chance to impress.
  21. It sounds like we could be in for a busy couple of weeks with potential ins and outs,it's good too see the club are backing hammy.
  22. Were trying to sign robert snodgrass according to the sun
  23. I've never got the hype over allan,he was talked about as a youngster and it stuck despite him never really settling anywhere and doing the business for any length of time,he's very similar to tony watt.
  24. Were trying to sign Mckinstry on loan according to the evening times.
