  1. We don't even look like a team that played midweek in 30 degree heat with travelling involved,we look like a team that's never played with each other before,it's been shambolic so far,the midfield is still a concern but our defence fills me with zero confidence, you just know it's only a matter of time before we give away a soft goal, were always going to be on the back foot with this current defence.we need ojala in to hopefully make us better as lamie and mugabi just aren't upto it as a partnership and our full back are still giving away all the time under the sun for the opposition to put balls into the box.weve had a couple of good moments going forward but it's simply not enough for 45 minutes of football.

  2. We definitely need another attacking option,i would like to see a left winger with a bit of pace brought in which would also give us the option of mixing it up more and playing watt more centrally.van veen looks like he will thrive on cross balls this season so another option out wide could work out really well for us.anybody know when shields is expected back?

  3. Coming into this season i was worried about the spine of the team giving who we lost over the summer but having brought kelly back and the signings of slattery and van veen and an international centre half to come into the team, even though it's very early days we might actually be stronger than last season.after today I'm reasonably confident we will have a decent season by the time the new signings find there feet and guys like donnolly get back up to speed we will be fine.we still need atleast a couple more signings as the bench today was lacking in options especially in the forward area,if alexander can pull a couple more like van veen or slattery out the bag, that would be great

am not sure hibs are as good a side as the media make out, at the moment they are the media darlings, but overall that was a good start by us hopefully we we will pick up points playing like that for the rest of the sesaon

I agree with that, hibs are one of the better sides in the league but there not any better than the other teams that finish 3rd in the league.they have a really good forward line that causes teams problems cause they interchange there positions really well but i wouldn't be in a rush to go and sign any of there defenders or midfielders.

  5. That was a kick in the balls, that we didn't deserve.there was a lot of positives to take from that and if we can play like that most weeks we will be absolutely fine.the defending for the hibs goals, the first and the one leading up to the penalty were school boy stuff,we really need to start defending the wider areas a lot better,to many times last season we got caught out with the same thing.i think the new signings will all add something especially van veen who was outstanding, woolery had to score though,if he did we would have got atleast a point.we have shields to come back but I would still like another forward in as well as a midfielder.all in all it was a good enough performance that we can definitely build on.

Watt in the hole....been screaming out for that for long enough

Some of watts best moments last season came when he was in a central position, his through ball for campbell's goal at kilmarnock and then a similar pass for roberts at easter road were both outstanding,he's wasted drifting out to the left,he's got a good footballing brain that can do damage if in the right areas, watt in behind woolery and van veen could be really interesting for us.

  7. As things stand if cornelius isnt viewed as atleast fourth choice midfielder then it's best we get him out on loan,I would rather he played every week at a lower level than maybe find himself behind the likes of crawford, who should be moved on himself as he just isn't good enough.I would like to see us bring another midfielder in but that would surely only happen if we moved a couple on.

  8. If the game was at easter road and they gave us an allocation i would have been chuffed so i can't say anything different that were letting hibs fans into the game, getting back to some kind of normality includes having away supporters and will definitely make sunday that wee bit more enjoyable, especially if we send them home miserable.while there is still restrictions in place it's impossible to get it right everytime and please everybody but hopefully were not far off where we can accommodate every motherwell supporter that wants to go to fir park without having any hassles.

Indeed - yet there's been 2 transfer windows and some of the same chaps still get a game.

Would love to see some experimentation in these games. Different formations, some of the new signings - not the same dross.

Last night was poor but I'm not stunned that we lost - that's the most galling thing.

Agreed,I wasnt overly confident about last night and i wasn't that surprised that we lost the game but for as poor as we were in the previous two games i expected better than what was on show last night.its still very much evident that some just aren't good enough,we will never do anything as long as guys like lamie and crawford are about the place.alexander has to take his share of the blame for last night too,I still can't get why he's put o'donnell straight into the team, the guy clearly and rightfully deserves a rest,if he isn't left out and we bring johnstone in on saturday then the mind will truly boggle.

Maybe I'm in a minority of one but....

I agree we are crying out for a creative midfielder but my priorities lie elsewhere. We are desperately in need of 2 central defenders and some solid midfielders. That way we'd be hard to beat and score against. We could build on that. Right now, Championship and Division 1 teams are able to cut through us far too easily.

I have to agree about the defence it's just not good enough and relying on mugabi coming back isn't the answer, lamie is our main centre half right now and that says it all.we need to sign a centre half and one that is being brought in to play to make us better.we need a creative player in the middle of the park and then use one of our current holding players as just that, sit in front of the centre halfs at all times and protect them and don't move, that should be there role nothing more than that, our defenders are woefully exposed in the current set up,all it takes currently is one pass and our entire midfield three is took out the game because they all run about like headless chickens, some discipline is seriously needed in the middle of the park.

  11. We didnt have the players to play 433 last season and unless we're planning on bringing in atleast two midfielders that are a lot better than what we currently have then 433 just isn't going to work.we have a midfield that contributes nothing but giving away daft free kicks and wanting to pass it sideways, they provide no protection to the defence and offer no support to the forwards.lamie improved towards the end of the season but let's be honest,he isn't good enough, going into a season with him as the main centre half is always asking for trouble.i actually think we could have a very decent front three in woolery, watt and van veen if the service to them is decent enough, yet again how many crosses into the box didn't go near one of our players or aimless punts up the park.im just glad alexander is still on the look out for players as we need them.

Fans like you are the biggest problem that we as a club have. “Let’s just accept getting beat by our lower league local rivals cos they scored two great goals and the pitch was hard tae play oan”.

I’m glad you aren’t embarrassed by that shambles.

Spot on,the glorified friendly and it's only pre season patter is just an excuse for losing to a lower league team, let's hope alexander isn't using any excuses after that.

I don’t think we’re playing a single midfielder that will start the first league game in all honesty

We better hope that alexander has a couple of midfielders lined up as that midfield again tonight wouldn't look out of place in the league below.
