  1. I think we really need to examine the absolute minimum of what we need... What the team shapes up like and what we need to ensure we stay in the league this season (More needs to happen in the summer). Let us say we play 4231 -----------------Twardzik----------------- Reid------ A.N. Other------OBrien-------Hammell --------------Lasley---------A.N. Other-------- A.N Other-------A.N. Other--------Ojamaa ----------------------A.N. Other---------- I firmly believe we need 5 good additions this window (Otherwise we WILL go down). That leaves us with a bench of: Neilsen McManus Ramsden Carswell Vigurs Lawson Erwin Sutton Thomas Watt Ferguson
  2. After suffering that drivel for 80 mins yesterday, I stand by my earlier points that is imperative we begin rebuilding now. All this let's aim for 10th pish is quite frankly insuliting. We are absolutely rank rotten. From the lists posted above, the only names I'd be remotely interested in keeping are Carswell, ,Ojamma and Sutton. I said earlier that we are in desperate need of 4/5 players to make sure we stay in the league and I fully stand by that. If the board are not willing to open the wage budget to allow this to happen, I will genuinely have no sympathy for the more dramatic enforced changes we will see in the championship. Individually... Twardzik - Too wee. Backup keeper if I ever saw one. Keep. Reid - people like to think he tries. He has nothing about him at all. Goodbye. Kerr - never a professional football player. Goodbye. McManus - cart horse and has gone back the way since he joined. Goodbye Hammell - injuries, injuries and age, bad combination. We must seek a starting LB. keep. Lasley - he tries hard but again we need to look for a replacement. Keep Law - utter shite. Goodbye. Ainsworth - too lightweight. Goodbye. Ojamaa - trying too hard atm to compensate for the dross around him. Quality still. Keep. Sutton - will score at spl level however needs support. Keep Ramsden - too injury prone. Goodbye. Lawson - see ramsden. Goodbye Vigurs - imposter. Goodbye. Carswell - backup player again. Keep. Erwin - someone said he isn't a footballer as his decision making is awful. Tending to agree. Keep. Obrien - back to Derby. Goodbye. Angol - not a football player. Goodbye. Mchugh. See angol. goodbye Cummins - see the two above. Goodbye.Neilsen - hasn't worked. Goodbye. Stewart, Thomas, Ferguson, Cadden etc. we have to keep. Will be judged over next season and a half.
  3. Completely off topic here however...I used to attend all away matches however do so less regularly now (thank Christ) however there appears to be a growing section of our travelling support intent on causing trouble at every opportunity (perhaps more so than watching the football). To me, it seemed pertintely obvious today and I wondered if anyone else picked up on this growing trend?
  4. It is not about simply paying players to leave. We are in the position where we are languishing in the league and a blind man with a cork leg could tell you that we badly need to enhance the squad. I am not suggesting we have the finances for salaries to bring in the 4 or 5 players which are so badly requiring - the cash injection to therefore pay players off (4 or 5) is external to the wage bill not supplementary. If the time is right and we see the potential of a Randolph, Ruddy or Jutkewicz (spelling) then we should make sure we have the salary structure in place to do so (with a view to creating sellable assets). The attitude of some on here is utterly miserable. We should be creating a vision for the club and implementing good practice in all departments - sadly it seems some of you have become trapped in the same malaise as is so often projected by the club
  5. What Sugar-esque amount do you place on eliminating deadwood (5 soon to be out of contract players to free wage bills lets say). Personally, I would be astonished if that figure was more than 250K, which if it is goes to show how shoddy our contract dealings have been of late. If a business is not able to raise a measly 250K for infrastructure purposes (with a new owner), it is in serious, serious trouble far beyond what has been portrayed.
  6. that's the game, let's just stumble along like we have for the last 5/8 years, with no vision, living hand to mouth and asking for handouts where and when available. That has really got us in good shape financially and structurally, why didn't I think of that??? What we need is for Hutchinson et. Al. To have a vision to grow the club. He is a businessman and will know that in order to turn profit from an ailing company, money has to be put in to eliminate cash draining areas whilst also investing in long and short term profitable assets - which will mean a small amount of funds being used to pay off contracts, with the freed wage budget going to other players.
  7. January will soon be upon us and the market will open. Despite two good results, we really need to pick up form in the second half of the season. We also need to realise that we will have many out of contract in the summer and have to look to restructure the squad more gradually than another massive overhaul. Keeping Ojamaa is imperative and O'Brien is utterly replacable. With that in mind... what do we need? I would suggest first of all we look to offload Neilsen, McHugh, Cummins, Francis-Angol and potentially Lawson and Ramsden (given their attrocious fitness) to free wages. We are badly lacking a Centre Half, Defensive Midfielder, Left Winger, Attacking Midfielder with pace and another striker (even with keeping Ojamma). I would like to think Mr Hutchinson and Co. have realised the huge importance of us staying in the league and without spending on fees, would allow us to bring in 4 or 5 players and release those no longer required or good enough to play regular first team football. Thoughts...?
  8. Was in the ticket office today, was told that around 400 tickets had been sold, which quite frankly seems disappointing. Would have thought Derby Day at New Year, with a new manager, two wins on the bounce would have seen us travel with a support of 1100+ however that would appear pretty unlikely. Does anyone know our seating allocation?
  9. -------------------------------Twardzik--------------------- Reid-----------Mcmanus--------Ferguson-----Hammell -------------------Carswell-------Lasley---------------- -------Ainsworth---------Ojamaa--------Thomas---- ---------------------------Erwin--------------------------- Subs: Nielsen A.N Other A.N. Other Lawson Vigurs Sutton A.N. Other ZFA, Law and Kerr can all quite frankly bugger off IMO. 2-0 Well
  10. It should have been van der gaag - that is all.
  11. As far as I see it, this will go 2 ways. 1) He'll be here for years (5 min) - boost his own rep. Follow vision for club etc. 2) He'll be out on his arse by February - very little knowledge of scottish football, previous experience of success in weaker leagues etc.
  12. In many respects this is possibly the worst possible appointment we could have made (if true). We are crying out for excitement to re-engage fans, players etc. like it or not, a recognised name like vdg would have got bums on seats and peaked the interest. Picking somine the vast majority of us never heard of before from a scout position in the lower reaches of english football smacks of a lack of ambition and attempt to raise the stature of the club. I like many others feared fan ownership would be likely to whittle away any standing of the club even further and whilst those views may not be liked on these boards, the lack of bums on seats suggests I'm not alone in my thinking. Not impressed at all.
  13. I understand I'm going to get pelters for this however it needs to be said...The communication from the club is rank rotten. Surely fan ownership - or the move towards it should be increasing transparency, however if anything it's getting worse. I'm not suggesting they should be announcing who the manager will be before everything is signed, however it should certainly be he case that the club and or well society should be updating supporters in regards to the progression or events, ie. What is required, target timelines etc. the club did state it was looking to have someone in place pre-Ross county however as that looks increasingly unlikely, the lack of news will not make many encouraged to contribute to the well society in the future.
  14. Van Der Gaag for me. We really need a totally fresh approach at the club. I'm really hoping that he and whatever staff he would choose to bring (please please please let this be the end of Black, Marshall and co.), would be be set a remit of overhauling our entire playing structure. From introducing stricter training regimes, fitness requirements and longer training hours for the senior squad, to a stricter focus on bringing through youth and a focus on technical ability on the junior sides. We are at an impass, yes we have to stay in the top division this season, however I do believe that in the spl, a manager with any form of tactical nuance would be able to have a team compete comfortably - van der gaag has competed in a league better than ours therefore this aspect does not worry me. What we also need to realise is that it is crucial we set the wheels in motion for next summer when we have many players out of contract. We need to evolve through that phase, not be hit like a bolt out of the blue come next May/June, which makes it increasingly important to emphasise a change in structure so that is in place by the Time it comes to finding players equipped to fit into it. This, I hope everyone realises, is about a lot more than simply winning next Saturday against Ross county.
  15. It could be that we are going to need something similar this season; Van Der Gaag could be just the ticket to inspire it.
  16. this really is a difficult one. We are rank rotten. Looking for a fresh approach from a new manager... --------------- twardzik------------ ---Ferguson--reid---McManus---hammell ---------carswell-----Lasley------- Ainsworth------Ojamaa----Thomas ----------------Erwin Subs: Nielsen--A.n youth--A.n. Youth--Obrien--Vigurs--Sutton-- A.n. Youth As far as I see it, we have about he square root of fuck all to loose. Confidence cannot get any lower, neither can the home support.County are bottom, give some of the younger boys a chance. Let the defenders defend and attackers attack at pace. Get angol, law, mchugh, ramsden (suspended) and Kerr into the stands where they belong. Get fresh faces in the side and on the bench. Season starts now as far as I'm concerned, 2-1 well.
  17. -----------------------------Twardzik------------------------------- Ramsden----------McManus-----Kerr-------------Hammell -------------------------Reid--------Lasley----------------------------- ----Ainsworth-------------Vigurs----------------Ojamaa ----------------------------Erwin--------------------------------- Subs: Nielsen Francis Angol OBrien Sutton Carswell Thomas 2-2
  18. If Butcher is indeed set to return - though there are other candidates - I, like many others I'm sure, would doubt if I would be. He came, did us a turn, we finished bottom and then consistently in the lower half with some of the most laboured football I've ever seen at fir park (second to his certain assistant malpish). His biggest achievement was the cup final where we absolutely shat it against rangers (which lets be honest, from the way he used to conduct his press conferences before these games was no wonder with his doom laden chat). He is not what we need! We need someone with vision, new ideas, a restructuring approach and fresh take on shaping a scottish club, not one from the manager carousel. An awful appointment imo, showing once again a lack of long term vision and desire from the club, it would truly cement a new era of rut surrounding Motherwell
  19. Surely I can't be the only one who is hopeful that we actually do get bought out by this South American crowd. This consistent drudgery of constantly being rooked is beyond boring and quite frankly I would love a bit of energy in and around the club. Terms and conditions of sale can be included to protect the clubs survival - including all debts accrued being with the holding consortium and not directly with the club. Bring it on as far as I'm concerned - scottish football needs a breath of fresh air and boot up he backside and quite frankly, this could be it.
  20. I sat right behind solano last week, he was there! There was another Motherwell fan taking a picture with him which will provide further evidence if required...
  21. Not sure if it means anything at all, but I sat very close to Nolberto Solano (ex Newcastle, villa and Peru) in the main stand last night. He was there with around 8 other Hispanic / South American guys - they wiere sitting with Motherwell team lines going through players etc. could be useless info. Or perhaps a sign of something coming?
  22. Grant - No Stark - No Butcher - No Lennon - God No Adams - No Calderwood - No Leitch - No Adams - No These guys are NOT what we need! We need someone to inject life and stimulate the entire club. These guys are too "establishment", we need new ideas, outlooks and approaches.
  23. Serious Question, what does Scott Leitch actually do at Fir Park? What his duties are etc.? I would be very interested to know. As for manager, I have said before and will say it again, we need someone who represents a new era at the club - a new way of playing football, producing youth talent, expectations on players etc. It could be an exciting time however I will be gutted should we select someone who has managed Motherwell or any other side in the SPL before... we need new ideas.
