  1. It will be extremely disappointing to see Marvin moved on after less than half a season at Motherwell. I understand that someone may come in with an offer of 500K etc. however the guy has showed in 4 months that he is capable of stepping up to the plate in the SPL and probably beyond. We will not be doing ourselves any favours by accepting less that 1M for Johnson at the moment. A solid pre-season and season in the SPL will see his value easily rise well over the pitiful amounts that we will be offered for him at the moment. I would like to think that the days of under-selling our players are behind us.
  2. Remarkable really, after his brutal assualt on that flag pole.
  3. We needed a left back and whilst I wasn't overly enthused by Laing, he was in and out the team much of the time. Perhaps a run of games could see him cut the mistakes out of his game through sharpness. It is important that even if he does sign, we do get another centre-half, which I think Baraclough will realise. Chalmers and Laing will definitly set the tone of what we can expect this close season. Signings will be unknown names to almost all of us and I would image have an average age of 22 - the idea being that we can give them 2/3 year contracts and move them on for a fee as they begin to approach their prime.
  4. I said it on the other thread, but I full expect to see us bringing in around 9/10 players this summer (losing 19). I agree with what was said above, in regards to us only bringing in 1/2 loan players. Loanees, to a large extent would go against the business plan which Les has been speaking about, in terms of generating income from players. At the moment, we have an experienced core of the squad; but not much on the edges. -----------------------------GK-------------------------- Law------McManus--------------CD-----------Hammell RM -------Pearson---------Lasley-----------Johnson --------------ST-----------------ST-------------------- Subs: Twardzik Reid Watt Leitch Thomas Moore I doubt that Reid will feature for Baraclough (typical McCall signing) and I think that we really have to be looking at Leitch and Moore making a bigger impression this season or it is highly likely that they will go the way of Cummins, Carswell etc. Going on the basis that we do not re-sign Ainsworth, Sutton, Erwin or McDonald (all of which would be great), I think we are looking at: Goalkeeper x 1 Central Half x 2 Left Back x 1 Right Midfielder x 1 Central Midfielder x 2 Striker x 3 This would leave us with Watt acting as cover for RB or centre half and Thomas for the wingers. Exciting times and great to have a fresh slate.
  5. Now that the police are involved, the jury might just be coming in...
  6. I think it is good that we are able to start with an almost clean slate. Past two games aside, we have been utterly dross for large chunks of the season and a huge clear out is required. We still have a crux of decent experienced players in the squad. ----------------------------GK------------------------- Law-----------McManus--------CD----------Hammell RM-----------Lasley------Pearson-------Johnson -----------------ST---------------ST----------------- Subs: Twardzik Watt Leitch Thomas Moore Not sure what the deal is with Reid and Angol however I wouldn't be surprised to see them move on. Sparing the fact that anyone will sign on again (Ainsworth, McDonald etc.), we need a minimum of 5 players coming in. More likely, with the amount of wages which have now been freed, we will be looking to bring in 9/10, players. I imagine Bara will be thinking: CB x 2 LB x 1 CM x 2 RM x 1 AM x 1 ST x 3 It's going to be an interesting summer.
  7. Did anyone else hear reports that Mohsni tried to fight Erwin after the game? If true, including the on the park assault, how long will that ban last?
  8. If anyone had said it would be 3-1 'Well before the game, I would have thought they were on something. Disappointed to lose the goal but that is an incredible result.

Does anyone have the video of Dougie Ramsay scoring at East End Park. Can't remember the year but I have memories of it being an absolute pearler.
  10. I'm struggling with the fact that people are seriously considering leaving players out. Fair enough if this was December and we needed them for the rest of the season but quite frankly if we don't win on Friday - we are in a play-off, which considering we seem to shit the bed at almost every game which means something, we will inevitably loose. Get the best 11 men on the park - win the game, hope county and thistle draw and st.mirren miraculously manage to take 3 points off kilmarnock. That would leave us 4 games to make up 4 points - one of which is against Ross Co.
  11. In reality, who will be gone/dead wood Twardzik Long Reid Ramsden Francis Angol Cummins Kerr O'Brien Laing Ainsworth Vigurs Lawson Mchugh Straeker Mcdonald Carswell? Any I'm missing?
  12. Jesus, you're right. I take it back
  13. He is incredibly pish, but I cant work out whether I actually have a cult hero thing for Straker...
  14. Its uncanny how similar erwin is to a shite young clarkson breaking into the team. Get sutton involved - at least he knows where the goal is. Streaker to be left at home and laing dropped.
  15. Fuck it. 3-2 Well. Aberdeen to score first and us to be sitting in 10th just 3 points behind Partick come 5pm tomorrow. We're going to finish 9th.

    Baraclough Out

Should a protest be organised outside the Main Stand next week?

    Baraclough Out

Our decision appointing Baraclough is coming home to roost. As much as we like to malign the views of our own support there was a sense of "oh well that was a bit disappointing" when Baraclough was announced over MVdG. It would appear that same sense of "oh well" has permeated into the playing squad also - despite the support thinking we couldnt get more apathetic. We choose Baraclough because he sounds positive, nurturing and gentle mannered - good at stroking all the ego's of McCall's horrendously aging squad. The selection panel were obviously working under the premise of not wanting to rock the boat too much, so we persisted with Black and the rest of the backroom staff and brought in Ian the glove puppet for that extra morning cuddle and then another on the way out as the players head home at 12. I, like many others on here, were hounded down at the time for saying that this was exactly what we did not need. The club and playing staff had been in a malaise like I have never encountered in all my time as a Motherwell Supporter when Baraclough came in. We needed someone that was prepared to upset a few people, tell some home truths and quite frankly make the players a little bit nervous. I remember hearing an interview with Klopp of Dortmund a couple of years ago when he compared his managerial style in comparison to UK based managers as "rock and roll versus Classical Music". It sounds like managerial speak however the mentality of bringing someone who does not want to simply adjust, but rather rip up the book of what we have been doing and start again was exactly what we needed. We took the wrong approach at the wrong time with poor insight and understanding of the state of the club and its playing staff and now the decision is coming home to roost. Is it too late this season to change it? Possibly yes. Would I immediately seek to appoint a new manager on Sunday evening, yes. Whether we go into the last 10 games battling for survival or bowing out with a whimper depends on a completely revitalised mindset at the club and that, starts at the top down; as it does in any line of business.
  18. Say we do bring in another 2 faces today (guessing loans)… How many players who play in the last game of the season for us could potentially not be at the club? Could we be looking at a totally different starting 11 for the first game of next season given the volume of those out of contract too? Slightly worrying in itself surely.
  19. What we have to what we need.... ----------------------------------GK Ramsden---------McManus--------O'Brien--------Hammell ----------------------Lasley----------DMF--------------- ------AMF------------Pearson-----------Thomas ---------------------------Sutton--------------- Subs: Nielsen Kerr Laing Watt Erwin Lawson Vigurs Reid ZFA Cummins McHugh Streaker Carswell IMO from this, we really need to be bringing in a GK, defensive midfielder and Forward of the Ojamma mould - all 3 are a must! What is also totally apparent is we have an abundance of dead wood at the club. As we constantly claim to be pleading poverty, we really need to be looking seriously at offloading McHugh, Cummins, ZFA, Lawson, Nielsen and Kerr IMO - even if on loan until the contracts run out. If we can get part funded salaries on loan deals for these, it could fund 2 of the above requirements who would be expected to be a much higher standard. 3 new players of a decent standard an that team SHOULD comfortably stay in the SPL however I have been thinking that all season...
  20. Who gives a shit... The players certainly dont
  21. Are we going to see any new faces? We are half way through the window with no new blood. We critically need at least 4 players to ensure we have a hells hope of staying in the league. Left Back, Sitting Midfielder, GK and Centre forward are a must (assuming we are keeping Ojamaa), if not a left winger too. We need these players to bed in so time is of the essence!
  22. Get someone behind the scenes to grow a fucking set. Make a statement of intent and set out a vision for the club. We are rudderless at every fucking level. Get Mr, Hutchinson et al. On board with the idea that unless they invest this month, their entire investment thur far could go tits up with relegation and administration staring us in the face. The "board" is a bloody farce, exemplified in the managerial appointment and nonsense fund raising efforts. If we had a half a clue, half of the staff and squad would be away.
