  1. A worrying trend that must surely be of concern to McCall and the current crop of players. I am not certain what the answer is, as it feels like various Motherwell managers and players throughout the years have suffered similar problems.
  2. And like Dumbarton or Queen of the South, Stjarnan should be no match for a professional full time football team over two legs. I fully expect us to undo any damage from the first leg and progress into the next round. It doesn’t bare thinking about if we don’t.
  3. Yes they are semi-professional outfit.
  4. Going by last nights performance this is what the tweet should have been... Fuck it, I am going to stay positive and believe that we can beat a semi pro team to get through to the next round. Mon the Well!
  5. The great Scottish sprinter Allan Wells would disagree with you on that one. I am sure he offered his services to clubs in the 80’s with the sole purpose of improving fast or slow players speed using his training techniques. Wells was confident that he could improve any players speed. I could be mistaken, however, If I remember correctly one of the first clubs he offered his services to was Motherwell but we declined. Maybe someone with a better memory than me can clarify the story.
  6. If we play like we did tonight we won’t even get our BFH.
  7. I hope it’s not a case of look what we could have won.
  8. Josh Law for me as without his 2 goals the tie would be over.
  9. Exactly the game should have been over by half time, however, we always seem to find a way to let the opposition back into the game.
  10. An unacceptable performance against a semi professional team. At 2-0 I thought we would go on to finish up comfortable winners. To be honest on chances I thought Stjarnan could have won the tie and only poor finishing let them down. No excuses we should be winning these games if we have aspirations of doing anything in Europe.
  11. If I was forced to choose I reckon Higdon would just about shade it for me. Sutton probably puts in more of a shift defensively as well as attack, however, when it comes to goals Higdon has that certain something. Anyway it’s pure fantasy as it’s never going to happen.
  12. Without underestimating them... the basic facts are that if you can't beat an amateur side over two legs you don't deserve to be in the competition. You also have to remember that like Stjarnan, Bangor are also semi-pro. We are a full time professional football team and hopefully learned something from the Albion Rovers cup debacle. I repeat what I said earlier in the thread, we can have no excuses if we don't dispose of this team in a professional manner. I am fully expecting us to take a two or three goal lead into the next round. Mon the Well!
  13. I am not sure why they don’t just offer a Acrobat PDF version for download from the official site. It is very simple process to save the print file as a pdf . This would enable people who are not able to buy a physical copy to read it on their tablet or computer.
  14. Our opposition have arrived... https://twitter.com/MotherwellFC/status/489447963627110400/photo/1
  15. Tongue firmly in cheek, however, I can imagine the conversation in the boardroom... What should we charge the fans for the Euro tie? £25, we might as well make some money off them.
  16. Since I am not a betting man, can anyone explain to me in layman’s terms what those odds mean?
  17. Similar to Celtic, if we can’t beat an amateur side over two legs we don’t deserve to be in the competition. Stjarnan will be match fit as their season is already well under way, however, we are the seeded side and need to show them whose boss. We have an opportunity to kill this tie tomorrow and I fully expect us to go about it in a professional manner. I am sure there will be no excuses from McCall and the team if we fail to do so.
  18. Pretty relaxed about it. I was confident before I watched the Icelandic champions and I see no reason to change my mind now. Two or three nil at least.
  19. No need to, as the crowd will not merit it. Any Icelandic fans will probably be housed in the main stand.
  20. The £25 price tag was always going to put off some people, especially as they are an amateur outfit with no real euro pedigree. We will be lucky to get 3,500.
  21. I bought mine today and the office was empty.
  22. We have a good opportunity against Stjarnan to prove to any future opponents that we are no pushovers. The next round will be very tricky to negotiate and we are relying on the luck of the draw to have any hope of progressing.
  23. Well said Andy, anything that adds atmosphere to the night is very welcome. Good luck to all involved.
