  1. The main argument put forward by the committee for a 10 team set up is finance. Just how poorer off would teams be if they opted for a bigger league? And has anyone produced a set of figures to back up their claim?
  2. I think we need to invite our Captain to the next fans forum so we can ask him directly on his ability to pass a ball. My football playing experience is kicking a ball in the park with my 9 year old kid, so I’m in no position to judge anyone’s ability to play the game. I still dish out my words of wisdom every Saturday, but if pushed I would have to admit I know fuck all about what is required to play football at a decent level. Craigan must have some ability, or he would not get paid to play full time football, even for us!
  3. To be honest, the only people who can tell Craigan it’s time are himself or the manager. Until then, it will be business as usual for our Captain. I just hope that if any professional footballer stumbles across their teams fans forum (and I’m pretty certain they do) they don’t take any criticism to heart.
  4. Dundee have something we sadly lack at the moment, fight and passion. They have gone ten games undefeated, six straight wins and five clean sheets. It’s also two months since they last conceded a goal. Am I worried, yes! At the moment I would take a boring 0-0 draw with a replay at Fir Park.
  5. I will be there, but I fear the worst.
  6. The various management teams at Motherwell must think different, as he has been with us since 2003! Although I reckon at least half the time he was either on the bench or the treatment room.
  7. I’m not sure that is the only reason. Attendance figures have barely risen above 3,500 for Derby games at New Douglas Park. And probably not much above 5,000 - 5,500 at Fir Park. Hamilton v Motherwell Sat 20th Dec 2008 Att: 3,527 Hamilton v Motherwell Sat 16th May 2009 Att: 3,383 Hamilton v Motherwell Sat 7th Nov 2009 Att: 3,583 Hamilton v Motherwell Sat 13th Feb 2010 Att: 3,133
  8. I’m sure Leeann will sort you out with some free tickets for our next home match. Plenty of seats available!
  9. Although important, I think there is more to it than that Ricky. For most games it’s is only two quid more to watch the Well than Raith Rovers. Although how Accies can charge £20 is beyond me.
  10. Worrying times for football crowds in the Lanarkshire area. Answers on a postcard to: Fir Park Stadium Fir Park Street Motherwell ML1 2QN or New Douglas Park Cadzow Avenue Hamilton ML3 0FT
  11. As pointed out in the general football section, the crowd at Starks park today was 6,544. This was more than double the attendance (3,171) that watched our local derby.
  12. Out of those, Page (when used! Twice three times?) has impressed me the most. Saunders has at times looked nervous and I was surprised to see him called up to the full Scotland squad. Hutchinson has at least had more first team experience than Page and it would be interesting to hear McCall’s opinion on him and the others mentioned.
  13. Just out of curiosity, with our water tight wage structure who would we get to replace him? Realistically it would be a raw untried teenager or somebody similar to the man himself. Unless McCall has someone (maybe a loan deal?) in mind I would rather stick with Craigan.
  14. Sums up any average ‘affordable’ SPL player. All most teams can expect sign outwith the Old Firm and Hearts.
  15. What he lacks in skill, he more than makes up for with his passion for the game. He never will be the greatest defender in the world, and if he was, he wouldn’t be playing for us. For what it’s worth, along with Lasley he has been one of the better performers in what has been a dire time for us.
  16. Frustrating player at times but but Marinello eventually showed what a rare talent he had. A truly gifted footballer who should have achieved more in the game. On a side issue, what the fuck is he wearing in this picture with Geoff Hurst?
  17. Blackman: If possible I would like to see if we could extend his loan deal until the end of the season. He has gone of the boil of late but so have most of the team. On his day, he is a potential match winner. Gow: A frustrating player who unfortunately in my opinion should be shown the door. He is a football ‘luxury’ who to be honest we can’t afford. The only hope he has of staying at Motherwell is if McCall sees something we don’t. Fitzpatrick: A ‘typical’ Motherwell player who gives his all with varying degrees of success. He fits neatly into our tight wage structure and to be honest if McCall can’t find a better replacement for the same money, I would sign him up.
  18. I seriously doubt it. As with any gambling investigation, all ‘winnings’ will be put on hold.
  19. Get well soon! You appear to be living up to your name ‘Wellworn’. I hope a derby day victory will be all the medicine you require!
  20. Probably not, but we have only a tabloid story to go on and maybe the SFA never made such a request. Just out of curiosity, is there any direct quotes, copies of emails/letters sent to Motherwell from the SFA in the article? If not, you can take anything the tabloids print with a pinch of salt. They are all about as accurate as the Bible.
  21. Until some clear cut evidence is produced neither the player or the referee should be suspended. Jennings is only a target because of the location the bets were placed. I’m not sure which village, town or city the ref is from, but if they had been placed there, a similar request may have been made. I’m pretty sure the players union will have informed Jennings of his rights and that the SFA can legally do Sweet FA until some facts are produced. Until then, it’s business as usual.
  22. Got to love the tabloids use of words.
  23. The problem with that is, he can’t stop the media bringing it up in interviews. You would need McCall to come out before the Accies game and tell the waiting media that he will not be talking about or answering questions on his Rangers past while he is manager of Motherwell. It’s never going to happen. Chick Young will make sure of that at the first available opportunity. As long as his main topic of conversation is always about Motherwell, I will be more than happy.
  24. We need to stop the run of bad results, no better time than against the Accies. 2-0 to the Well.
  25. Website is working for me, although as mentioned, it is painfully slow...
