  1. As someone who is not an accountant nor a business person please help me with a simple answer. I have read through most of the posts here. I pay into the Well Society every month. Please correct me if I am wrong but the bottom line for me is that Barack gets almost total control of the club for an initial outlay of £300,000. If that is true then it is a massive no from me.
  2. Season 23/24 nearly over and it has been a bit of a meh season. Nothing to get excited about, out of the cups early, never looking like getting top six and safe from relegation with three games to go.. The usual suspects on here decrying the manager and their favoured fall guys. Kettlewell is stuck on 5-3-2 and only changes this when we are chasing the game and he puts on a load of forwards. The lack of wide players in the squad means we are relying on wing backs to get forward. This puts a lot on them and often they get subbed off and replaced like for like. He has had to deal with an excessive amount of injuries to important players. McGinn 6 games, Casey 9 games, Slattery missed last five months of the season, Miller 12 games, Obika all season, Paton 8 games Blaney 5 games, Butcher 14 games. Bieruth 6 games. Add to that the recall of Bieruth and Spencer. Recruitment has on the whole been good. Negatives Wilkinson, Obika, Shaw, and Halliday. Positives Bieruth, Bair, Spencer, Paton, Gent, Vale. Ok Nicholson and Devine. Kettlewell has improved players. Bair, Spittal, Miller and Gent especially with loanees being recalled after their clubs recognised their improvement after successful spells. He appears to be a good motivator as despite the long run without a win the players stuck with him. How many times did we score late goals to get a draw or a win? God knows how he keeps them interested as his team talks must last ages if his interviews are anything to go by. Despite losing Van Veen we are the third top scorers in the league. Problems are clearly in defence and he hasn't managed to sort that out. Big summer ahead. Recruitment needs to be good again and he needs to find a couple of diamonds to improve us. I saw my first game over sixty years ago and I will be back next year to support the team and the manager.
  3. Some posters on this site really piss me off. Steelboy, Yoda and MJC all over the site when we are losing and silent when we turn it around and win. Why comment negatively about a club I love but say nothing when we win. Whatever people think of Kettlewell, he has the players behind him and makes the adjustments that sometimes turns a game. That today means arithmetically we won't finish 12th and if we beat Ross Co after the split or if we finish top six we won't get relegated . Be happy.
  4. That was diabolical yesterday. I have bee a season ticket holder for 33 years. During the game i began to think is it really worth it coming along here very week. There was no entertainment yesterday. We hardly strung 2 passes together. Their goal was a joke. Misplaced back pass for a cheap corner. Halliday completely missing the header and the ball just seemed to hit their player and go in. I could not bring myself to celebrate our goal. After Aberdeen when I was on my feet punching the air when Lennon scored I was waiting on a call for offside or a foul by Bair. 30 seconds after the event and only then was I sure it was a goal. The life is being squeezed out of the game. Standard are poor with League 2 and National League clubs paying more than we can afford. Compensation for young player leaving has not kept pace with inflation so we are screwed again. And to top it all we have VAR which is removing the instant thrill of a goal being scored. Its more than likely I' ll be back for the Hibs game.
  5. I did not vote as I felt that the person and the offer itself would have to be assessed before deciding. A "Motherwell person" with a long history of supporting the club would be Ok with getting full control but some unknown with a shady past who would promise the earth then quit after a few years it would be a no from me.
  6. Announced by Jim McMahon at the AGM that contrary to what was being said here and elsewhere Kettlewell's contract runs to the end of next season.
  7. I have supported Motherwell for 60 plus years When I was 9 we went to Ibrox and won 5-2 then lost 1-0 at home to Airdrie I should have realised then that it was not worth it. All the hype after the Ross Co game, you just knew we would be let down.
  8. This is the biggest game of the season. Momentum has been building over the last few games and we need to keep this going. Win tonight and its not only money in the bank, but that momentum keeps up, and we are ready for Aberdeen and Hearts.
  9. Bair will get the headlines and he deserves them. But the man who didn't put a foot wrong was Paul McGnn. He won every header and made some great tackles
  10. I hate both with a passion. At the moment I find Rodgers a total pr1ck. His comments after the cup final about Kipres sending off and his interview after the late goal they got in a 1-1 draw in the invincibles season were outrageous. As for their sisters anyone who has supported the Well as I have done for lots of years will remember the late seventies when with Miller, McVie and Stevens we were hammering them 2-0 and the crowd decided to break in and disrupt the game. After a long delay the game restarted and they won 5-3 and went on to win a treble. No action was taken by the league. Scum then and still are.
  11. Goalies are in a very difficult position. They make a mistake and it is often a goal. On Saturday Blaney got absolutely skint and fell over. The STJ player was clean through but who bailed Blaney out the goalie, Kelly. I don't know anything about Ox but only three weeks ago at Celtic Kelly was the hero so for me stick with who you know unless the coaches see something at training.
  12. From those at the game or watching a stream how are we lined up?
  13. McCoist spoke the best line ever as a co commentator at the last World cup final. When Mbape scored his third goal the English commentator said "that's the first hat trick in WC final since 1966." And McCoist immediately said " and it's the first one where the ball crossed the line three times" Absolutely brilliant.

    Pay at the gate

At one point today both turnstiles were held up by the reader unable to read the QR code on two people's phones Is this the future? I am fortunate enough to live near Fir Park and as an old dinosaur I want my paper copy in my hand. The future must be contactless gates.
  15. I thought Dunfermline might want Lamie. McPake is his mate and was taking him to Dundee before he got the bullet.
  16. Bair got his contract cancelled at SJ. There would be a pay off to him to compensate for this season. Maybe we are paying him washers for the first year of his contract with us.
  17. The other side of the world with no ties to this country
  18. More evidence of the bad appointment that Hammell was How he could put so much emphasis phasis on a young player from
  19. if it has not already happened can someone from the club media group put up a film of Kevin's take down in the first half that resulted in the Killie player hauling him down. It was an even better take than the one that led to the goal but was not shown on Sportscene.
  20. In February I was convinced that we would be relegated. What a turn around. The next few months will be interesting as SK has to reshape the squad. There are a few players under contracts who are not in the team and a few who are out of contract who are playing. He needs to sort out that conundrum and find a goal scorer to replace KVV.
  21. If Mckinstry was not a Motherwell boy this would not be an issue. The system we play does not lend it's self to wingers. Should we change the system just to accommodate a loan player? I think not. Why are fans worried about a player who is not ours?
  22. Sportsound commentator saying Kilmarnock have got 91 per cent of their points at home. I wonder why.
  23. Changing to 3-5-2 when we have one fit centre half tells me Hammell has completely lost it.
  24. I am absolutely raging at the board and management of our club. Hammell should never have been given the job and should have been punted after he stood with his hands in his pockets as we threw away a two goal lead against 10 man Kilmarnock. We then keep him to the window and allow him to bring in 9 players with no rhyme or reason to his choices. The line up today was a joke. We should have tried 3-5-2 weeks ago but to do it today with one fit centre half is madness and shows Hammell has no idea. Plus players like Crankshaw, Aitchison and McKinstry are not suited to 3-5-2. Now I read that we have reverted to one up front. It shames me to say but when it went to 3-0 I was hoping we would get a real doing and there would be no way back for Hammell and Kerr
  25. Why did we sign this Blaney guy. I hope it was not on the strength of two games against us and a wonder free kick. The money paying him and a bit more could have been used on an experienced leader that we are crying out for at centre defence. (If we could find one)
