  1. Go on then...

I'm sure I alluded to it in one of my posts a while ago that with ChooseLife being something of a small, local charity were needing some help to raise the funds to be our sponsor.

I may be wrong here, but I'd guess they went to our main sponsor looking for funding which brought the opportunity to their attention, and they decided to sponsor us themselves rather than give ChooseLife the money to help them out.

Like I say though, I'm kind of putting 2+2 together there and it could be a mile off but I'd put a good wager on that being the case.

  2. Glad this has finally been announced and that the club are using the opportunity to help support such a cause.

I do have a bit of sympathy with ChooseLife, putting 2+2 together with what I heard about the new main sponsor a few weeks ago, it seems they have 'done the dirty' on ChooseLife a bit.

  3. A few community projects we've worked with in the past.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's log in to learn or Choose Life. Big sponsor in the new season books.

That was what I heard a month or 2 ago.

  4. i doubt the club has anything lined up or it`d be announced already, why wait so long? when do the new kits go on sale?, thatll be another reason were running around with the poor cap looking for 50p for Reynolds! Worrying that a team in scotlands national league with tv games during the season cant get a shirt sponsor

    It's not all that worrying.

West Brom have spent the previous 2 seasons, one in the Premiership, without a main shirt sponsor.

If a Premiership/Championship team can't get a shirt sponsorship deal for 2 years with the TV coverage they get then what chance do we have?

  5. Another Twitter update, this time from the Wishaw Press. Hardly a surprise though.

wishaw6_bigger_1__normal.jpg PressSport Giles Coke will NOT be returning to M'Well as he is set to sign for a Championship outfit, most likely Sheff Wed.Undergoing a medical.

Biggest surprise there is finding out Wednesday are still a Championship team.

  6. Your right in that some of the names being banded about, Jack Ross, Kenny Deuchar etc, aren't too good, I think the deal with Famagusta for Charamboulous(SP?) is a bit more promising than you make out.

Famagusta are a Champions League team who waived their fee for a sell on clause, rather than him being released, so they obviously feel he has the potential to be a good player and make them more money that way. The deal was also the start of a link-up with them, so that probably made negotiations a fair bit easier too.

  7. If there's no money in it why would they bother, or are you talking along the lines of the Airdire deal mentioned previously?

Although we'd all prefer our shirts with no sponsor on it, the club would consider any deal going if they didn't have many/any options. A small amount of money is better than nothing.

Can't remember the details about Airdrie's deal.

I don't know too many details, and I'm not sure whether the charity put the idea to us, or if we went to them. It is a charity the club have done publicity with before AFAIK. They were trying to raise the cash for some kind of sponsorship starting next season and would receive a small percentage from each shirt sale, probably £1 or something.

But if the club has nothing else or the charity could secure funding from somewhere, it could happen this season.

EDIT: It could also be that it's only for the sponsorship on 1 of the kits and we could have a different sponsor for the other kit. (Not something I heard in relation to this, just something that a few teams do these days, and again might help go towards covering the shortfall.)

  8. John Boyle supports quite a few charities with his Romanian orphans one being the most well known.

While a charity sponsor would be good PR it would not raise much needed cash for the club.

Agreed, but if it's the only option then it'll be a goer.

The figure I was told was obviously nowhere near that which Jaxx paid, (it did make me wonder if it's a replacement for the logintolearn.com on the back of the shirt, but I'm sure that's still got a bit to run), though I don't know if it was perhaps only for a 1 year sponsorship, which would even it up slightly.

  9. Really like both efforts. Although I'll wait to see what the quality is like before I make any purchases, got to be better than the Canterbury stuff.

Really hope we manage to keep them without the sponsor, even though we could do with the money. The story I heard a few weeks ago is that we had been in talks with a charity regarding the sponsorship, but they couldn't get involved until next season.

  10. Methinks you;'re looking for something that isnae there.

It is there but, on the official site.

The launch of the Motherwell FC PUMA 2010/2011 Home and Away Kit sees the club join the portfolio of PUMA contracted clubs including; Newcastle United, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City, Reading, Bristol City, Coventry City, Hibernian, Bath Rugby Union and England Rugby League.

    :P

Like I said though, could have been an honest mistake. That was my original thought at the time too.

  11. When the official announcement was made, did it not say Puma would be supplying the clubs 2010/11 seasons kit?

Might have been an honest mistake, but to me that says it's only going to be a 1 season effort again.

  12. Thats all we've got so far

    Well that....

    ....and this.

In his absence I'll take the liberty of answering on his behalf

    "When they're fuckin' ready"

    Allrighty? ^_^
