  1. You say the club and the fans are at polar opposites mate but no-one from Motherwell Football Club has come out publically and nailed any colours to the mast – for or against.

Motherwell are one of the few teams involved in the 'strategy group'/Old Firm bumfest that proposed the idea.

Is that not evidence enough that they are supporting these changes?

  2. Would we accept 75k for Reynolds at this stage? its a fair mark down from Rangers offer a couple of years back

I doubt it. He's still under 24, is he not, so we're guarenteed a bit of compensation even if he leaves on a bosman in the summer. I reckon 75k is less than we would get from that.

  3. Wee boy was the 'well match mascot and loved his day (90 pish minutes apart) and loved the reception he got off the travelling support.

That would explain the pics of you suited and booted next to our dugout.

And here I thought you'd managed to get the assistant's job.

  4. The reasoning being ,An expanded league means spreading the exisitng meagre wealth among more clubs.

That would only be the case though if we allowed Celtic and Rangers to keep their 99%, or whatever they take.

Surely if we expanded to 16/18 teams if wouldn't be the case that Celtic/Rangers keep all their money but everyone else has to sacrifice 20% or whatever to accomodate the extra teams.

If there are going to be changes, either way, this unfair distribution of TV money, and the likes, has to be the first thing on the agenda.

  5. Agreed Steve but;

"........it was good to see Jennings back training too".

I take it from that he has been back home since the 'betting scandal'. Surely being banned for three games doesn't discount you from training with the squad.

I think he was getting his wisdom teeth out, or some sort of operation along those lines.

That's probably had him ruled out for a week or so.

There is no way we'd let a player have a few weeks off cause of a suspension.

  6. The more time I've had to think about this appointment the more I'm starting to warm to it. When it was announced I was completely underwhelmed by it and thought I'd need a fair bit of convincing, but the way he puts himself across in interviews so far is making me think it could turn out pretty well.

I cant see a positive in the appointment of Stuart McCall and believe me I really desperately want to find one.

    I'll give you two.

    1. He's not Chris Sutton.

    2. He's not John Hughes either.

I would add Gus McPherson and Jimmy Calderwood to that list for 3 and 4, but I would be surprised if Gus' name was ever considered and quite a few would have preferred Calderwood, for some reason.

That's another reason I'm starting to warm to this a bit. If it was either of those names (or at least 3 out of the 4) every single one of us would have been fucking livid and would still be rattling on now about how big a mistake it is and how much of an idiot the new boss is.

  7. What difference does it make if you walk out at half time? They've already got your £22, that's all they give a fuck about.

Just don't bother turning up in the first place, that's the road I'll be taking.

I've missed a load of games in the first half of the season because of work, but that was sorting itself out in the second half with Saturdays off when we are at home, but I'll be keeping my money to myself.

  8. What about Leitchie as his assistant. Motherwell through and through

    Hopefully not.

Wouldn't be happy with him coming back at all.

Plus, we know it's pretty much 100% certain that if/when McCall goes Leitch would be the new manager after that, and I definitely don't want that.

  9. What about Tommy Craig's contacts?

I can remember him working at Newcastle for a while, so might still have some contacts there, or perhaps even with Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool depending on whether there spells at Newcastle overlapped.

Not sure where else Craig has some influence.

  10. The Accies is a more interesting case. They have been unable to use their heating because of a burst pipe beside the boiler. Sure they are genuine and sure it has cost them more money but had that been Motherwell with our previous would we get away with it? Don't know is the answer.

Accie have previous. Remember last season around this time they had to narrow the pitch because their undersoil heating failed and one side of the pitch was frozen solid.

  11. I'm not arguing his competency, but in the matter being investigated there doesn't seem to be a case to answer as both Jennings and the club have virtually absolved him of any wrongdoing.

It doesn't really. If the ref was involved then perhaps he saw the Jennings incident as his ideal opportunity to guarentee his money, seeing as there were no really over the top, dangerous tackles he may have been expecting given Hearts' style of play, history between clubs, Motherwell's manager situation etc. etc.

  12. Slightly off topic but perhaps if there was a club shop/ticket outlet in the town centre instead of just at the stadium it would help.

Obviously costs would be a issue and perhaps the club could come to some sort of deal with Provan Sports involving the unit at FP in terms of rent (assuming they do pay rent for it) that would help fund a town centre shop.

A town centre unit where we could have player signings /promo events etc. could help raise the profile of MFC in our home town as IMO its not as high profile as it should be.

They usually have a temporary set up at this time each year for a few weeks somewhere up the Street. Don't know if we have it this year, haven't been through there for months.

That sort of set up is beneficial but I'd reckon to have something like that set up would be pretty negligible having to pay rent and wages to have it staffed all the time.

  13. They should throw the book at them - Mickey mouse outfit - how can they not have their stadium up to scratch to host football games . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Insert any other chliche that gets rolled out when teams like us call off a game for frozen plumbin'

That fucker Bain must be out the country - his hot air should be well capable of keeping that shit hole frost free

I heard from a couple of Rangers seasons ticket holders at work that parts of Ibrox are falling to bits and they can't afford to fix it due to the upcoming bill they are due to receive from the taxman.

Some of the toilets were wrecked at a game months ago which were reported and they were told there was nothing could be done. They also heard a rumour that they might have to stop serving hot food at the kiosks as they can't afford to keep that running either.

Probably utter pish, but heard it a while ago off a few people.

  14. Unless McGlynn has a clause that allows him to take over an SPL team with zero compersation due then I doubt it will be him. We're not going to spend money releasing him from his contract.

FWIW, I got a worried text earlier from a cousin working in Edinburgh with a few Hibs fans. They are pretty convinced that Hughes will be taking over.

I hope it's not either or them.
