  1. Maybe so, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in my last two positions I was head hunted, my credentials and qualifications for my profession are beyond reproach. I'm now self employed but work in an advisory capacity for some of my ex-employers, so I couldn't have been that shite eh?

  2. I thought Michael Fraser was in Malta?

    Bombscare.

EDIT: Ahhh, beaten to it. Michael Stewart. Naw. Hr'd be the new Brian Kerr. Could be a decent player if he could be bothered, but in his head he's still a Man U player. Far too much of a hothead too, would spend half the season in the stand after accumulating his usual red cards.

  3. I can imagine the advice he'll be giving players "yeah if the guy gets by you just elbow him in the face".

Without taking it as far as that we could be doing with a bit of that just now.

We have been a soft touch for far too long now. Need to toughen some of the guys up a bit and get the lot of them a lot more street wise.

  4. Why not combine the ideas of a weekend boycott and a protest at Hampden and arrange it for a weekend when Queens Park are at home. At least they are a team that stick to their fucking principles.

Queens Park v East Stirling or something with a few thousand there made up of fans for all SPL teams with some sort of protest before and after the game.

  5. i was hoping McCall had some decent contacts and would be chasing players he had seen over the years.

How do you know that's not what he's done here?

Just because the players aren't British doesn't mean he doesn't know anything about any of these guys.

  6. The poster was asking for clarification not yet another opinion given this move doesn't appear to be confirmed yet but seemingly likely.

He's off to Dingwall this morning to join in training.

Probably be confirmed tomorrow so he can play at the weekend.

  7. If that's the case it worries me that Motherwell are that financially strapped that we can't compete with lower division clubs. What chance do we have of attracting players to Fir Park

It was the longer contract on offer that swung it in her favour, not the wages on offer.

I would guess we only offered him yet another 6 month deal while County offered him an 18 month or 2.5 year deal.

  8. Getting close imo. Motherwell must be confident of other interested parties. £100,000 is not too shabby when you consider we will get nowt for him in May.

From what I heard earlier in the week there was still interest from Italy, (can't mind if was Torino or Bari who were rumoured last time), and he'd been made an offer to go to Turkey, Galatasaray were the team mentioned.

Not sure if they would be making offers now or waiting 'til the end of the season thought, if there is any truth in either of them.

  9. I'm beginning to think that this whole league re-construction gig is a big smokescreen to divert attention from the fact that we STILL don't have an Assistant Manager at the club.

Something tells me it'll be John Brown. Sadly.

  10. I'll be rude and (try and) answer a question with a question... Is every committee unanimous?

No, but given that the meeting the other lasted all of 3 hours I'd take a guess and say that there wasn't much opposition to the idea.

If the committee isn't unanimous,(even if only by 1, let's say that's us), then that means they are trying to push though a set-up that clearly isn't supported by anything like a majority of member clubs, nevermind the 11/1 or 10/2 voting majority that is needed.

Unless of course some of the teams who are 'in neither camp' vote the proposals through just for changes sake.

  11. There are a lot of viable arguments for a 10-team league. These include several things mentioned in Motherwell's statement - sponsorship and advertising revenue.

    But,

When the idea of changes to the set up was first proposed it was with the brief of improving Scottish football, which many admitted at the time would probably involve teams taking a hit and having to make sacrifices for the benefit of football in general.

Now we seem to have gone in the opposite direction from that and it's now all about the teams that will be left in the SPL each getting a bigger cut by splitting the money from the 2 dropped teams and sharing it out amonst themselves.
