  1. Even if they tripled you wages?? Aye right!!

Even if they quadrupled my wages I wouldn't go  . As I said if I was to whore myself to another club it would be to one who could win trophies not one who promises and fails to deliver. And that is not just the perspective of a fan  , if I was leaving my job for more money it would only be if I could gain success and happiness. Not phrases that I would associate with a move to Jamboland :wank:

  2. Bit harsh. Can't see anything wrong with what he's done. He's still doing the same job (4th-6th finish, 10+ goals, cup runs(?) etc) as he did at 'Well, just for a bit more cash, which I'd says he's probably entitled to after serving his time with us and moving with minimal fuss.

We'd all do the same if the opportunity was there!

I would never sign for the Jambo scum, never

  3. It's got to be the 1991 semi final replay against them.

Inthe first game we hit the underside of the bar and a stonewall penalty not given (surprise, surprise).

Plus I got lifted by the polis for telling my mate that was 2 chances we had that could have won the game.....2.

Arrested by strathclydes finest for giving them the vickies as they passed???. :wallbash:

The replay was a wet, wet wednesday night. You don't get a second chance against cellic we were told. :whistling:

Early goal for them, Dougie equalises, then they score again.

2 -1 down at half time. They were all over us.

Second half, Big Softy is playing brilliantly and almost scores with a header from a corner.

We need an equaliser, who can we turn to??? Up steps the hammer of the old firm, wee dooogie....2 - 2.

Throw in at the main stand side to Stevie Kirk, who flicks it inside to Psycho, he takes a stride forward, somebody shouts, "don't

    hit it from there.......................................................GGGGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL.

I CAN STILL HEAR THE SOUND AS IT HIT THE BACK OF THE NET!!!!!

We all went mental, I think I fell 3 times but what a feeling we couldn't lose it now, could we?.

They are pushing forward, get a couple of corners the defence is under pressure but with a couple of minutes to go we get the ball in their penalty box they have the ball, wait a minute, young O'Donnell gets it plays it back to Kirk who chips it...................

    ........GGGGGGGOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLL :woop: :woop: :woop: .

No way back for them now, We are in the final  WHAT A GAME.

That is pretty much how I remember it tooooooo but you missed the we want 5 chant to rub it in.

The 3-2 at Fir Park in 75 I think when we came from 2-0 down was the first time I saw us beat them so that holds special memories but the 91 semi because you don't get second chances, because we came from behind twice, because we had never been to a final in our lifetime, because I had to drive for 10 miles behind one of their buses with a scarf on the dashboard just that the semi that wee bit special.

  4. I have a few clippings from the Sunday newspapers and I still have my ticket. A few days after the final the team were down in New Lanark at the opening of something exactly what escapes me. Anyway I gave my ticket to my mum who worked there and she got the players to autograph it. Among the signatures are DC, Uncle Phil, Jamie Dolan and Paul McGrillen absolutely priceless to me.

  5. I agree totally with the point you are making about not giving the media any excuse to link Motherwell to sectarianism and bigotry;

BUT; I do not think that anyone could, or would, be able to point at a Scottish team flying Saltires at the Scottish Cup Final and describe that as sectarianism or bigotry.

The Union Flag would probably play right into their hands though, regardless of colour scheme.

On the subject of Saltires, folk saying that we don't fly them week in week out are correct, but playing devil's advocate, we don't play in cup finals week in week out, so if people want to make that extra effort and take a Motherwell flag that they normally wouldn't then I think that's fair enough.

Cannot agree more about the points being made about doing this to show support for Motherwell as opposed to winding up Celtic fans though.

Normally I would agree with that but when the thread started it was as an alternative to the Irish flags and as the media will be trawling through this site looking for any scandal I just thought that on this occassion it would be better not to do it.

  6. Look, I'm not sure you're reading what some of us are saying. No one is talking about going down any sectarian route.

All I said is that I think it would be a nice touch to attend the Scottish cup final with claret & amber saltires. Simple as that.

I've seen enough cup finals with Irish, English, Israeli & Palestinian flags, and thought it would be nice for a club who's fans pride themselves on being Scottish to fly the (claret & amber) saltire.

There will be those who don't want to do it, and that's fine. I think it would be a nice touch is all.

David I understand the logic behind what you were saying and I do understand what you are saying but then again I don't work for the braindead glasgow newspapers who look for ever opportunity to have a go at the wee teams to allow them to say that the old firm are not to blame for all the religously biggotted shit that comes out of their supporters mouths. If we go out with flags and banners that could be misconstrued in any way to be sectarian then we give them a victory. No saltires or union flags(unless it is on a ship it is not the union jack) even in a claret and amber colour scheme lets not give the barstewards any excuse to have a go at us or to let the bigot brothers off the hook.

  7. You cannot fly your country's flag in case it upsets someone else from your country!

Only in this wee part of the world would that happen. (we'll maybe Libya too).

Not worried about upsetting anybody by flying or displaying this countries flag but at a time when one of them is about to get a ban/fine from UEFA for their sectarian bile then if we go along anything that even resembles a sectarian route then we will have given them justification for saying that it isn't their problem it is Scotland's.

  8. I would be against anything that could end up with us being tarred as sectarian by the west coast militia that masquerades as scottish newspaper print. If we react to any of the obvious signs, banners, flags etc that the other lot bring with them then bang goes any moral high ground ragarding the bile that comes out of the OF every year. Good old Uncle Wattie says that it isn't only them and wee Lennon says it is a Scottish problem. If we turn up in any shape or form to stir them up then both of these pricks have been proved correct.

  9. A number of good performances yesterday, I thought Hutchy was solid at the back, Mo Ross looked like he had been in our defence for years, Murphy was in the face of the oppositon defence for most of the game, Gunning was solid until he had to go off and Lasley was immense he controlled the midfield and was a pain in the arse to the sheep but by a country mile and a bit the man who excited the home crowd and made the sheepshaggers shit themselves every time he got the ball Chris Humphrey is starting to show what he can do :)

  10. As many know, I hated the dithery auld fudd before he arrived. I appreciated what he did in his time at Fir Park, however I found the manner of his departure utterly appalling and completely contradictory to all that he has voiced to the eager media over the decades.

When I heard his interview on Traynor's radio show last night I was almost spitting blood. I was so angry I stopped the car and and vented my anger on a stack of hay wrapped in black plastic ..... you know the stuff that looks like huge black puddng.

I'm not defending JB, or otherwise, but imho Broon's a manipulative auld fukker, very adept at playing the media, and I wouldn't trust the wee fat shyte as far as I could throw him.

Very similar reaction myself big man except I just shouted at the radio and put the foot down. It is hard to believe that the old wanker is still getting away with it. I hope that after we beat St Johnstone the 'Tic have a mare and we can take the sheep shagging bastard to pieces on live TV at Hampden.

  11. There'll be a few folk not knowing whether to be happy or beiling tonight. I mean Jeffers proves not to be a total dud and McCall produces the great result our recent play has merited (excluding Ibrox). Confusing times for some...

I totally agree but if any lesson needs to be learned by some people on this site it is simply not to judge a book by its cover and make your own mind up  By the way " Get it up your chocolate whizzway Mr Brown":lol:

  12. Don't dispute that, however if you try to align yourself with how a South Lanarkshire councilor would think, there is little chance they would actively support Motherwell either in funding or other forms of support without Accies crying foul.

We all know we eclipse them in support, continuity and brand in the whole of Lanarkshire, problem is there would be a fair number of South Lanarkshire councilors will admit that when some are likely to have a higher number of Accies fans in their constituencies.

Sorry but I think that the Airdrie councillors might shout a bit louder about supporting the 'Well than the councillors in South Lanarkshire, never mind those in Coatbridge. My point was that as we are Lanarkshire's premier club then we should ask both of the Lanarkshire councils to support the club. However, in these time of financial austerity there is no chance of the councils wasting money on 1 of the 4 clubs in the district and that doesn't include the 2 biggest supported teams in the council :D

  13. . I suppose the problem is NLC covers 6 major towns, opposed to one. Also, Increase local advertising.

Aye but what about South Lanarkshire? A huge number of our support inhabits the towns of Lanark, Carluke, EK, Hamilton, Blantyre, Uddingston and Larkhall. If we are asking the council for support then it should be both North and South or do we let the Accies have the south to themselves? We are Lanarkshire's premier club. :whistling:

  14. Just checked the Stats for 83-84 season  4 league wins ;)

First victory 2-1 away at Castlegreyskull 22/10/83

next win first home victory 1-0 St johnstone 22/02/84

Then beat Hivees away 2-1 10/03/84

Then St midden at home 1-0 21/04/84

Were bottom of league from 31/12/83 till end of season !

Won 4 Drew 7 Lost 25 Scored 31 Conceded 75 Bottom with 15 points 8 adrift of St Johnstone

Not here to defend Wallace, some people are not worth defending but was this not the record of Bobby Watson?

  15. Obviously discussions such as this are taken so far above my level I have no input and as such, as a club employee, I am not too sure it would be appropriate for me to comment on it from a personal point of view.

One thing though, purely from an interest point of view and this is 100% purely hypothetical.

Neil Doncaster stated tonight that a move to a trimmed 10-team league would generate more money from TV Broadcasters. Now, if that money was used to reduce the cost of admission to games (i.e. the German model), would that change this debate any?

    Just out of interest...

Flow, That would be a good place to start but a 10 team league led to the stagnation and eventual downfall of Scottish football. A bigger league would lead to a lot of meaningless games but these games would allow teams to blood their youngsters just as they did pre Premier League and they could be played in front of reasonable crowds if the prices were reduced to suit. I don't think this would be an immediate fix but if allowed to continue for a period of time then it might work. If only one out of 16 teams was definitely relegated and another 2? had to be involved in playoffs with 2 from the lower division it would allow more teams a bit of stability to blood their young talent and hopefully lead to the development of a better standard of football in this country. This I must add is only my opinion but the game in the 60's was reasonably competitive even although the OF still dominated. :wallbash:
