  1. All this pish I'm reading about another draw we cannae beat ten men utter pish. Aye I was gutted too but do you know what I remembered from that game? .... Lukas' utterly fantastic goal thats what. Like last week I was thinking what you doin and he nestled one right in the onion bag. What about focussing on the positives for a change. Praise Lukas as he took enough stick in the early months (from me included) . Praise Sutton who may not have had the best of games but he got one over the so called better team at set pieces.

And Dundee United are one of the dirtiest teams I have had the displeasure of watching. They are made up of a bunch of brutes and diving dicks.

    Mon the well.

I wasn't intending to go today but me and the better half got the Chrissy shopping done a lot quicker than I expected. It is disappointing that we have failed to beat a team who are men down again, I thought once again Lukas took his goal well and he does very well at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. The more confident he gets the more I can see why Moyes paid £1 million for him. United have always been a cynical and dirty team since the far of days of smiler Jim but they seemed intent to take it to higher levels today. I also thought the ref was an utter joke.

  2. Our play is laboured, too often there is an extra pass put in before the ball ends up with the player it should get it and by that time the opposition are prepared and closing the play down. How often when passing it out to Hammell or Yassin today did it get passed to another player for them to pass it on when the original pass should have gone straight to them. Also by the time the ball reached them they had stopped and were waiting or had to go back the way to collect the ball.

It happens virtually all the time I'm left wondering if that's what they are told they must do!

This is what worries me, we seem to be trying to walk the ball into the net all the time and it as if they are playing that way to orders. Unfortunately it seems that the team are too scared to shoot on site and I think it is time that we had a player who would not be afraid to miss and just have a dig. I also agree that Lasley is only a bit player although Coke is not being as effective as he was at the start. If you had offered me a draw at 2.59 today after watching United last week I would have been quite happy however, after another draw against a team who had someone sent off I am very disappointed but on the positive happy clappy side we are now 7 unbeaten although 4 draws are a concern. Revenge next week be positive :D

  3. It wasn't that long ago a lot of folk were calling Hammell a weak link and were looking for him to be sold to Dundee. A few weeks ago the general chat was that we were missing him when he was out injured.

Always a scapegoat in defence at one time or another.

Not only the defence we have scapegoats all over Fir Park

  4. I would be disappointed if the game was off on Saturday but considering the amount of rain that has fallen it would not surprise me if it was off. I agree that the surface looks wonderful and that the groundstaff have got to be commended on the wonderful work they have done to achieve this.

  5. Obviously 1 win in 6 doesn't make for good reading and with the next 4 games coming up being against the best 4 teams in the league it really could be 1 win in 10!!!

All if's but's and maybes, who knows what will happen. Of course there is room or improvement in some areas , but on the whole this isn't bad going at all at the moment is it?

Yes and on the positive side if these results are no worse than a draw then it would be 1 defeat in 16 :O . The thing that some of us are trying to point out on these threads that lets look at the positive side of being a 'Well fan for once and not the negatives. We have a bunch of laddies playing for us who obviously react well to praise so lets give them some 1 defeat in 12 league games. Wonderful B-) can I have some more please and that is not being happy clappy

  6. To be honest that was just a bit of a fishing trip by myself.

Opinions are not something that you can win or lose on.

However still far too many Happy Clappers that can see no wrong with the club!

Oh I can see many things wrong with the club but my point was that as I don't think that Yass is shite then I must be a happy clapper B-) Btw I think the only problem with the man is his inconsistency but that is the problem with a lot at Fir Park including the supporters :O

  7. The guy is murder. 2/3 of the folk think so the other 1/3 are happy clappy!

Close the thread and get on with it!

Hello I am a Happy Clappy  I know so many people who would not agree with that but I must be because I don't think Yass is shite. Because my opinion and that of the other happy clappers doesn't agree with yours let's shut the thread :D Why are you less than confident that your arguments are winning or do you just fear the power of the Happy Clappers? :P

  8. He had two men on him most of the game and Foster has been the first defender who has been able to give him a run for his money. McGhee did his homework on him and made sure he was kept out of the game.

Yass is not the best right back we have ever had but I don't think he is the worst I have ever seen either. He is a decent player who has improved his crossing since his debut and this was the first game I have seen him struggle to bother the opposition. See the thing is our old manager earned his money and spotted how much work he does in your average game. I also think that credit must be given to McGhoo for some good work at half time because they came out a totally different team second half. I could also be harsh and say the young boys made no changes to their tactics and kept feeding the ball to Yass when it was obvious he was having a bad day. Lets remember that this team have only been together for 3 months and we are going to have some bad days at the office. 12 games 1 defeat are we so good that we think that is a bad stastic?

  9. My biggest moan is the fact that we have 11 men in the box at corners. It we had at least 1 man up front it gives us the opportunity for a quick breakaway rather than clearing the ball up to the halfway line where they have plenty of time to put it back into our box.

  10. Only one winner I am sorry Ruddy kept us in this game the rest need to take a good long lokk at themselves for the pish they served up in the second half. Have we lost the ability to shoot in this team?

  11. Think you'll find it was the Brazilians that innovated the 4-4-2 system.

Not at all the 4-4-2 system was first introduced by Alf Ramsay in the build up to 66 and were commonly called the "wingless wonders" The Brazilian team of the 50's and early 60's were the instigators of the 4-2-4 formation and the development of 4-3-3.

  12. Could someone please tell me what this lone striker is supposed to do once he has got the ball and is quickly closed down? (we are talking about Motherwell not Liverpool)

Hold the ball up for the midfield to come on to it, flick it out to the wingers and then get into the box where he can score goals. He has managed to get a few recently oh and a player of the month award.

I am of a certain age that I remember what an inside left/right is and a wing half was  and although I would love to see entertaining football played by Motherwell I would rathewr we won 1-0 every week and won the league than lose 5-6 in an entertaining game. Been there seen that lets win ugly or boringly and get into the champions league -_-

  13. JOB could be away but from what I know he is happy for the moment, Reynolds is almost certain to leave in January and this will release money for new players, Craigan, Lasley and McGarry don't get on with Gannon and could all be on the move. But it is all unconfirmed facts and pure speculation. Damn that sounds like a journo

  14. It's the worst stadium in the SPL by a mile. Sure, it's got character but its still a dump ^_^

New Douglas Park and the Falkirk Stadium easily worse than our coup. Both have serious, serious design flaws.................they are facing the pitch.

  15. the diary of jim gannon aged 39 and a 1/2

wed - went for an interview at brighton, nice town, lovely beach, dont fancy the goalie

thursday - gave an interview with the bbc criticising my players for not earning their wages

Friday - Pissed off with media hacks for speculating on who I want in my team. Might not talk to them again :O

Saturday - was so disappointed to only draw 2-2 with local rivals who were a man short for 60 minutes that I decided not to talk to the media...... that will give them something to speculate they will think I am a huffy bastard <_<

Sunday - just read steelmenonline................................... :D

  16. My worst was john gardiner dropping the ball late on in a replay agains hearts in the late eighties

It was January 1987, remember it well because I took my wife to her first 'Well game we had just got engaged and that was my idea of a romantic night out B-) I took her to 5 games all 1-0 defeats, 3 against Hearts, Airdrie and Llanelli over the next 22 years before I she broke her duck in Wales. :woop: Now that she has seen us win I don't think she will be back :P:lol:

  17. We lost 0-7 to them early on the season we came back up in 1982. Took half-an-hour to go behind, then it never stopped. Still, come January, and it was a different story..........

Bad memories of that day Charlie Nick ripped us apart that day and ended Joe Warks career. Severe hangover on the Monday morning don't remember the Sunday :P

  18. I am not surprised to see this report like some I would be disappointed to see Craigan go his experience is worth more than his ability although I do think he has ability however, he does not fit Gannon's profile of a mobile centre defender. I wouldn't miss Lasley never really rated him, always thought he was a bit one paced and I think he has a habit of running and hiding when the chips are down, my opinion and I know you don't all agree before I get the pelters. McGarry don't let the door hit you on the arse, I would be surprised if Fitzy and DLS were off in January because of the injuries but they will only have until the summer to impress. I would like to see the Duke stay, what I have seen of the lad he looks to have potential just needs a bit of time, JOB could be off but I would be surprised this year I think he needs to build more of a reputation for himself and FP is a good place for that. As for Coke, Hately, Ruddy and Yas I would love to see them stay but it will definately be a money thing although if they want to stay I think they will. For me the jury is still out on Jennings but I think he might be a useful asset.

  19. Bloody hell, next year I'll be into my sixth decade watching Motherwell.

Shite never thought of that me too, howver to prove I am younger I never saw them during the whole of the 60's only the last couple of years ^_^

  20. I haven't a clue what my first game was although it was in the 60's and I was a youngster. My Aberdeen supporting family did take me to the 1967 cup final when the Lisbon Lions beat the sheepies 2-0 but I don't remember an awful lot about it, I was also at the 1966 Scotland-Brazil game where I am told I witnessed the great Pele grab Billy Bremner by the scruff of the neck, don't remeber that either. However I do remember a game against the Sheepies at Fir Park in the early 70's, League Cup I think when we drew 0-0 with them such an exciting game that I wanted to go back ;) Love the punishment, kinky that way :P
