  1. He was a wonderful player and I would have gone anywhere to see him play. Possibly the best midfielder I have seen play for Motherwell in my lifetime wonderful passer of the ball who had an eye for goal I would love to see his likes again in claret and amber. It is sad that another of my legendsb has gone long before his time. RIP Brian thanks for the memories.
  2. I haven't been so excited about the start of a season since 82-83 season. I don't think St Johnstone know what is about to hit them. Well by 3 in a very easy day I have no clue as to what formation or team JG will play.
  3. Who are the best fans in the world then???? We had a guy tell us in Llanelli that the town had never seen anything like us and he hoped that we would return soon. As I said Who are the best fans in the world????
  4. Oh wonderful I have been a United fan since the heady days of Best, Charlton and my all time hero Dennis Law. I have always dreamed of seeing United at Fir Park and at last the wait is almost over
  5. Ooops apologies I thought he had signed the 3 year deal and not Humphrey. Rephrase that then I look forward to seeing more of him over the next season and I hope we can tie him up for a few more years
  6. I think the penalty was a perfect demonstration of how to win one. The lad put himself in a position where there would be contact and very few European refs will not give it. Our penalty shouts would have been given by many other referees but not this one I am afraid. I thought that Stancu's goal was a humdinger last night but watching the highlights it is even better than that no goalkeeper could have got to that. I thought that their goalkeeper looked dodgy but this shows he had a few good saves even though he was a bit lucky where the ball ended up. All in all we played well and didn't deserve to lose on the night. With this team the future looks bright.............
  7. Quite a few shouts for man of the match but my vote went to Coke. A very impressive home debut and I look forward to watching him over the next few years
  8. Congrats to Gannon and his coaching team the team were well prepared and for 60 minutes looked like they were the experienced European campaigners. I thought Coke, Forbes and Sutton played well and I look forward to the game in Perth. Steaua were clinical when they got the chance although with a different ref we could have been out of site by the time they scored. Big difference was their professionalism in getting the decisions from the ref.
  9. I think but not sure that the league wrote the current rules based on what happened with us. I don't think we were ever in great denger of disappearing but it was a bit of a worry for a wee while. Rumour going around Falkirk last night apparently was that Livi will withdraw from the league before saturday. Would be a shame to lose a Scottish club but in the current climate it is remarkable that only one has reached this stage, so far.

    Jim Gannon

Its like Dad's fuckin army on here sometimes...... We're doomed we're all doomed. Management in any line of work is not a popularity contest it is about getting results whether it be on a football field or in business. If you don't like it watch that the door doesn't slap you on the arse. Same for management Gannon makes the decisions if it goes wrong .........................watch the door doesn't slap you on the arse.

I think it is far too early to make a judgement on any of them good or bad. "One game does not a legend make or break"

Totally agree, who cares what happened, he was one of ours, one of the team from the few good days in my life time watching 'Well and as fans and as a club we should respect his memory and demonstrate that respect in a football stadium.
  13. How accurate is this? It has Millwall at 106th When did they last appear in Europe??

Can I not start a theory for once that lasts without someone shooting it out of the water before the end of the day? I am well aware of the failings of Wikipedia just thought that it would increase the tension for a wee while
  15. In almost 40 years watching football I haven't seen a young Scot who has excited me more than Slane. He has the potential to be much better than Faddy, a bit of careful management by JG and this boy could be a regular by the start of next season. If he is still with us by the time he reaches 22 I will be very surprised.

Just been on Wikipedia it shows the away strip as being all white with a claret hoop. Is this official or pure speculation on Wikipedia's part? Not a bad looking strip if it's true
  17. I understand totally mate I am the only male in an office of 7 women so I know what its like to be deprived of footie conversation getting fed up hearing about all the bargains in the shops and what they are making for their mans tea
  18. Hammell being left out last week was a tactical decision as was O'Brien playing at right back. Hammell will play tonight and if Gannon thinks he needs to be change things tactically again next week he will be dropped, same for any player under Gannon. Personally I don't think Hammell has been in as good form as he was before he went south although he did have a good season in 07-08. However,at the moment we have no left back who is better or more experienced than Stevie and I seriously doubt that JG will get rid of him because of his experience. Fitzy has not developed as much as we would have liked and that may be down to a lack of first team appearances. Good luck to him if he does leave but I don't think he will be a huge loss

    Paul Mcgrillen

Stunned completely stunned, met him a few times when he was at Stenhousmuir and enjoyed a few chats about his days at the Ark. I am finding this hard to take in any news on the cause of death? RIP Mowgli you will be missed
  20. Just got back a few minutes ago from wonderland but I came back to earth very quickly reading some peoples assessment of the game and some of the performances. First I don't think Jim Gannon has any intention of playing O'Brien at right back he was there because they would be defensive and play on the break and his speed would be useful. It became a useless exercise because we scored 6 goals (count them 6) in a 25 minute period in the first half. Forbes has international written all over him and as for Slane being the next Faddy, sorry guys it is possible that he could be the next Dalgleish The boy has so much talent it is wonderful. Okay so the opposition we have faced so far has not been brilliant but in the first 4 games of the season we have scored 11 goals absolutely wonderful. I have seen 8 goals in a Motherwell game before but never from us at last Bring on the Romanians Now to finish that bottle of wine

Loved it Big Man It was nice to see some old faces and to hear some of the tales from days of old Best atmosphere that I have been in since 91. The friday night in the bar was brilliant hearing all the stories of what happened after us old farts went to bed. Guy in the bar thought the only potential flashh point was when some guy put a flag over the telly What about yourself how was the drive back?
