I thought McLean had signed a new contract? I agree that Hughes will follow and I think Klimpl could go as well which would be hard to take. Agree that they can't afford anyone in contract but we need to wait and see what the new man thinks.

Time to go even although he has done a good job over the last 2 years it is obvious that he doesn't want to remain here so how can he convince players to stay or to come to us. We need a new man in soon so watch the door doesn't slap you on the arse Mutley.

I don't think McGhee will commit himself to Aberdeen until Celtic get their man. I think that he is still living in hope.

I have been at every ground on this list and it has been wonderful to have a nostalgic look at these memories.Hampden was wonderful in those days as was Fir Park although the pish down the leg from some drunk behind you is a memory that I have tried hard to supress.

There are some absolutely wonderful suggestions on this topic and I love the idea of buying Airdrie to build them into realistic rivals. I also like the "The Steelworks" Stadium at the 'Craig. Personally I would do something very similar re-building the club from the bottom up ensuring that it was an integral part of the psyche of the children of Lanarkshire with a manager whose only remit was to play open attractive entertaining football, preferably with local players but with the option of adding the odd foreigner who could provide an option that was not available locally. I agree that the prices should be kept to a minimum to bring more people into the state of the art stadium that would be a modest 15-16,000 initially with the option to extend as success brings more interest. As somone said earlier it would not be a quick fix but it would hopefully be a legacy left for future generations. Oh and I would buy the OF extend both stadiums to 100,000 reduce the entrance for them and when they were both playing at home fly over both stadiums and drop a big bomb on the barstewards below

Yes I am pissed off. Press speculation but I am fed up hearing about this. McGhee could end it very quickly by saying he is not interested in leaving. If he is interested then come out and say it either way we can move toward another adventure.

Personally i have reached the stage when I am getting pissed off with this whole situation. If he is off then lets get it out in the open and get a new man in as soon as possible, if he is not then lets get down to the business of preparing for an early start to the campaign and another European adventure.

McLair's hat-trick against the sons of William January 84 when we trashed them McLairs double agaianst Smellic a couple of days later when we beat them 2-1 7-0 away to Clydebank in 81, imagine the Well winning 7-0 away Winning promotion at Falkirk in 1982 can't remember the score but promotion was celebrated on the bus trip back to Lanark with the celebration cabbage and cream cake. It was just after the drink ban came in and the old bill were confiscating any drink so one of the guys bought the only things left in the shop. If you didn't eat the cabbage you got the cake in the puss. Well it was funny at the time but not for poor Jaffa who got the cake. The same season beating the Jambos on the last day of the season and the brown trouser race after the bus along Gorgie Road and being pulled in through the emergency exit. Happy Days Obviously the final in 91 but also getting back to hampden in 2005 but I suppose as someone who saw far too many semi defeats through the 70's and 80's eventually winning a semi and beating the tattie munchers in a replay a pretty unique feat at the time has to be the best of them all, driving back to Stirling behind a bus full of them was classic

As someone said the easy questions first this year eh! What a difficult decision to make My 1st favourite player would have to be Joe Wark "Mr Motherwell" although he didn't know my father, who has never understood football, he knew my uncle so that was good enough for me. Next up was Peter Marinello absolute genius with the ball at his feet in the days when Davie Coopers were 10 a penny. Willie Pettigrew quickly replaced him with the afore mentioned belter against Smellic in the 76 cup run , broke my heart when he left for the Arabs. Next up for Ernie worship and I am surprised he has not been mentioned yet was Alfie Conn, okay so he had a short fuse but he did cause the opposition a few problems too. His combination with Brian McGlaughlin and Willie Irvine made us one of the most exciting teams in Scotland in the early 80's. Of the cup final team probably Kirkie stood out but having watched the cup run again recently it would be difficult to single anybody out, Ally Maxwell's performance in the final was above and beyond the call of duty, possibly the best keeper we ever had. I remember being completely stunned when Davie Cooper signed for us and was priviledged to see him play in Claret and Amber many times and he would need to be high up there. After the cup team Coyle and Coyne with big Buff were the standouts although Lambert needs a mention too. In the last 10 years the only real stars have been Faddy and David Clarkson. Faddy had so much skill but his inconsistentency let him down and Clarky is still writing his script. However of all the players that I have seen in over 40 years of watching Motherwell the one player that I have enjoyed watching more than any other was Phil O'Donnell even when he came to play against us I was still thrilled that he was on the pitch at Fir Park. His energy, skill and especially those lung busting runs have never been seen from a Motherwell player since. I only hope that we produce another soon.

Other than the cup final goal my memory of Phil is his boundless energy and the surging runs up the park. Unfortunately I will not be there on Saturday in the flash but I will be there in spirit cheering my heart out. Hard to believe that it is 1 year already. God bless Uncle Phil
