Rumour seems to have built momentum in the last week but as tight as our finances are, I don't see it happening.
-
I'm well aware of his work at defending corners but that shouldn't be high on the list of priorities when it comes to his inclusion.
-
We were offered Phil Jones? Surely not, wasn't he breaking into the Blackburn team at the time... Regarding Higdon he's a very good player for us but I think it's a bit unfair on him to rely on him for 90mins 35+ times a season. He'd probably score the same amount of goals starting 10 less games a season. Sadly, McCall doesn't like to alter our style of play to play without a big frontman from time to time. Watching Hibs today, some of the interplay between Griffiths, Doyle and Cairney was a joy to watch.

Jennings and Clancy both need replaced. We showed in the 2nd half of last season we could cope without Craigan. Money was available for replacements towards the end of Aug. Dempster fucked up the Stevenson deal, dodged a bullet, and McCall couldn't identify anyone else. If we go out the cup to Aberdeen though, I wouldn't be giving McCall any money to bring in anyone in January if he isn't signed up to a new contract.

Ojamaa by a distance for me again. Was pleased to ZFA come on as he did add another dimension to the team. Hateley was terrible, looks to be carrying a knock like Hammell.

Fuss about nothing regards the silence . Bunch of Dundee bams were unaware what was happening. Taking the game in isolation, I fairly enjoyed it as it was a very competitive game between two poor teams. Fancied us to a nick a 2nd but again we ran out of steam and should no composure in front of goal throughout the match. The same problems continue to arise that were evident from the Panathanikos game. Failure to find suitable replacements for Clancy and Jennings has ensued a mediocre season where we will huff and puff our way through games. Sticks in the throat a wee bit that Daley comes on for the last 10 and contributes fuck all while Stevie Lawless scores another couple over at Firhill.

No from me. My commitment in the summer was buying the ST after 4 or 5 years of choosing my games. Had the tv deal etc fell through, then it would be a different story.

Any word on Hutch returning? Quite looking forward to seeing Dundee at FP for the first time in a number of years. Should bring a healthy support. I'll obviously put a few quid on Nish to score anytime.
-
Indeed, very poor decision imo that compromises the ethos of the society.
-
On top of the ticket hassle, the game should never have been same night as Celtic Barcelona. Opportunity missed as the rearranged Hibs game last season produced one of the best atmospheres FP has sampled for a league game in recent years.

Attendance under 4000. Good work Dempster.
-
Griffiths and Watt amongst those ahead of him in the pecking order just now. Definitely has the talent to play at a higher level and represent his country if he wants it bad enough.
-
Not the most enticing of draws although I did instantly think Strevie Kirk. Hopefully the game is on the telly and we get at least a replay.

Didn't want sevco in the league cup but would take them now. Wouln't mind a trip to Firhill though given the Motherwell connections.

Welcome victory, good to see Murphy getting a couple of goals. St Johnstone fans must think he is a world beater. Interested to hear who we played as I feared the worst when I saw that we were sticking by the same midfield.
-
Still no Carswell.
-
Butcher was also over celebrating with the Inverness fans at full time, no chance in hell that McCall would have done that. Regardless of what Butcher says to the media, he's a winner and loves nothing more than beating either half of the OF. The same can't be said for McCall.

Don't quite subscribe to no chance of scoring chat. I've seen Motherwell teams that could play all day and not create a chance. Generally speaking we are still creating chances but are guilty of overplaying at the edge of the box. Our problems lie with the gaping hole in midfield that can't protect our shaky defence. Until, this is addressed, we will continue to struggle.

St Johnstone have been one of the more impressive teams I've seen at FP this season and that was before they hit a rich vein of form. If their first choice midfield is fit, they will stroll to victory. 3-1.

For me, shorter deals are not the way to go and it has certainly not worked for Hibs who have had an awful few years due to players not giving a shit about the club. For Motherwell to be successful, we need to pluck out 1 or 2 free agents per year that we see potential in and invest in them with 3 year contracts with a view to keeping them for 2 years max. On top of this, we need to spend more time focusing on the physical, technical and mental attributes of our principle assets to ensure we get the very best out of them with a view of a sell on value. Guys like Murphy and Humphrey have stagnated under McCall for a host of reasons; that shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Meanwhile, one of the brightest prospects of our youth setup, Steven Lawless, barely gets a sniff of first team action when things are going well last season due to Omar Daley getting the odd 15 minutes. Again, this wasn't in the interests of the club.

I'd be willing to see Hateley in midfield if he had Carswell alongside him. They two probably compliment each other better than the current duo. If we are to turn things around we need to become hard to beat. That requires us playing with two midfielders willing to protect our vulnerable defence. I've been saying this since the Panathanikos game though...

Haven't seen it on the tv but if the Ref had it in for us, he could have sent off Higdon.
-
Good news from this morning. Watt scores for Airdrie today.
-
Time to start looking far beyond this season. Short-term outlook looks like it could be catching up with us.

Ojamaa. So far ahead of his team mates that he had to be substituted.
