  1. Midfield 3 of Lasley, Carswell and Law. Higginbotham in behind Higdon and Ojamaa.
  2. Higginbotham looks like a decent prospect to me. Needs to be playing behind the strikers though.
  3. Yet another enjoyable, albeit frustrating, game at FP. The first 45 absolutely flew by. We played some great stuff but the final ball wasn't there. When the ball did drop in the box, Ojamaa and Higdon weren't as sharp as they were on Saturday. Hutch had a few rough moments but credit to him for sticking to the task. Biggest concern for me would be Hammels struggle with injury this season. His movement seems curtailed and he is therefore unable to provide the outlet that the good play of Higginbotham and Ojamaa requires. Pretty impressed with Dundee United. Makeshift defence dealt with everything that came into the box. Midfield was very tidy and fed the dynamic duo of Russell and GMS to great effect. Both of whom should be close to a Scotland call-up.
  4. Slight concerns over Hammell and Hateley given that they passed late fitness tests for Saturday. However if the back 4 and Carswell can repeat Saturday, then the platform is set for Law, Ojamaa and co to run riot. 4-2 'Well.
  5. So if playoffs are such an exciting money spinning prospect, why can't we go with a 12-12 and introduce playoffs for 11th in top league and 2nd, 3rd, 4th in the second tier? This would be the natural way to go. Take automatic promotion/relegation out of our game and we are operating in a farce of a setup.
  6. Special mention to Hateley. Very solid performance given that he hasn't trained all week. Seems to be gradually getting back to form.
  7. As Higdon said, Nicky Law by a country mile. He'll feature in best Motherwell XIs for years to come.
  8. Enjoyable game again. Most balanced I've seen the midfield for a while, Carswell done a very good job while Law was by far the best player on the park. Higginbotham was as I expected. While he's better suited to playing off a striker he could do a job for us coming in from the left. Clean sheet warmly welcomed, shame Ramsden had to go off.
  9. Probably less than 4,000 at the game today. The heart has been ripped out if Scottish football due to sheer greed. Given our relative success since McGhee arrived, apathy has probably set in more at Motherwell than some of our SPL counterparts. For years, I dreamed of seeing Motherwell in Europe. Thinking back to the Aberdeen game under McGhee, I turned up at 3 with my ST and the East was closed and managed to get one of the final seats in the Cooper. That just wouldn't happen now. As daft as it sounds, fans have got used to playing in Europe. The excess qualifying spots in the league along with the clubs defeatist approach to big games certainly hasn't helped.
  10. Is Devlin back from Dumbarton now? From the wee snippets I read he wasn't getting the best of reviews. Law in the middle with Carswell, ZFA on the left. 6-3 Motherwell.
  11. Impressive 4-1 win with a hat-trick from McHugh and one for Watt. Good to hear Saunders got another 90mins and Erwin made his 1st appearance since Sept.
  12. Any player or manager with a hint of ambition would be daft to sign for an SPL club until they know the 888 doesn't get voted through.
  13. He'll miss the Dundee United game too won't he?
  14. Ross County had their fans forum tonight. Overwhelming no to 12 12 18. Good club.
  15. Big supporter of summer football with a 16 team league. Plenty of scope to work round the International tournaments. Sky would be all over it, crowds would undoubtedly be up and we would get a better standard of football. Once Doncaster & co take us over the edge we may eventually get a shift in culture that reinvents the game.
  16. Not to worry, there will always be a meaningless trophy up for grabs.
  17. I really struggle to understand how the 888 setup appeals to sponsors and broadcasters. Given the small number in attendance, many of which I suspect will support whatever the club tells them, I'd like to think this will get voted against by the sane majority. For those that were easily swayed today, you really should have voted yes for Rangers last summer.
  18. Tweet would suggest that my reservations about the well society are quickly coming to fruition.
  19. Spot on and precisely the reason why all SPL clubs are behind this.
  20. Such poor management, partly the reason why I haven't invested in the Society. Do we seriously budget for a top 6 finish. For a club with no means of credit, that fucking baffles me. After making a profit of £540k in 2010/11, why did we invest the full profit the next season? Surely we should have put at least £250k aside to enhance cashflow fir future years and cut the squad accordingly. And if money is so tight, how is it possible for the club to have such a timid approach to cup games? And why did we shite out the battle for 2nd place when an extra £900k was up for grabs? Dark times ahead...
  21. If he has developed since leaving Motherwell, hemight finally get a look in at International level with McGhee in the fold. Very good signing for Aberdeen and a nice lengthy contract for Mark.
  22. ~£400k rejected? Good work Motherwell.
  23. Sheff United bid for Russell rejected on deadline day while we accept 110k for Murphy before the window opens.
