Le Fondre has been the subject of Hibs rumours for months but even the majority of their messageboard posters accept that he is outwith their reach. Would be surprised to see Nicky Law stay in League 2. I'm sure I read about Blackpool making a bid for him in January. As for Randolph, I'd happily sell him for a million just now to give us a bit of scope to strengthen the squad.

With small businesses struggling and folk getting made redundant all over the place, I very much doubt it. I imagine that a significant proportion of our support go out on a limb to secure a Season Ticket. I'm in favour of the concept but I don't see it being feasible for a washed out community like North Lanarkshire that will never take a huge interest in Motherwell FC.

I heard we were interested in him a few months back, at the same time the papers were linking us with Forsyth from Dundee. I think Erskine signed a new contract with Partick towards the end of the season.

Famous last words but there is no chance of him heading North. I can see the only competition coming from the Edinburgh clubs, whether either is interested is a different matter.

Eh? Murphy and Humphrey would cause havoc if they had an intelligent player like Hughes threading through balls.

Based on his 1st team appearances, Carswell looks like one to break up the play and keep things simple. I'm not sure if that has been his natural role coming from the ranks but he certainly didn't look out of place in the 1st team. Big season for Page, centre half by trade but I like the look of him in midfield. Given the relative depth in midfield and defence however, I can't see him being any more that a utility player. As for Stephen Hughes, it was an honour to have a player of his ability at Fir Park and as mentioned previously, he was instrumental in the best play we have seen from Motherwell since the early 90s. While I'd be pleased to have Hughes park, I'd prefer to go down the route of bringing in a younger player from the lower leagues in England who is hungry to develop his game and ultimately use Motherwell as a stepping stone.

Accies will be looking for a fee. Wouldn't be overly surprised if he eventually ends up at Fir Park..

Coke was a tremendous talent that we failed to get the best out of. Granted, that seems to be the story of his career so far but how Broon could regularly stick him wide left is beyond me. It's a shame we never got to see a midfield trio of Hateley, Jennings & Coke flourish.

I think Higdon offers much better technique than Sutton and will be superior at holding the ball up. While I've been impressed by Higdon whenever I've seen him against us or on the TV against the OF, I understand that he can look sluggish and off the pace at times. It is important that he has competition to keep him on his toes. If we can get the best out of him, he will prove to be a more than adequate replacement for Sutton.

Strikes me as a possible Skippy type signing. Seems to have been a player that's caught the eye of bigger clubs over the years but not filled his potential yet.

Delighted to see Hutchinson extend his stay. Loved this boy since I first seem him at New Broomfield. Potential to be top drawer and gives absolutely everything for Motherwell. Has Murphy got 1 or 2 years to go on his contract?

It's already been confirmed that our player budget will remain the same as last season. I imagine that is a better predicament than most of our SPL counterparts will be facing. Given the focus on the Cup Final, I wouldn't expect us to be busy in the transfer market at this moment in time. Dundee United, Hearts, St Johnstone etc are currently announcing signings that have been lined up for a while. I think there will be a fair bit of activity at Fir Park next month.

I've questioned Gunning's attitude but I've also said that he has great potential. I never imagined there would be an opportunity to sign him on a permanent deal but if there is a chance, Id jump at it. You could easily make a few quid out of him. He's got a helluva lot to learn just like Hutchinson and Saunders but his talent is unquestionable.

Jeffries has a severe lack of imagination. Given the wages are reported to be paying, I would be expected a better calibe of player to come in and build on last years success.

Burke has been a key player for Cardiff the last 2 seasons and could easily get a very good club in England. Am I right in thinking though he may be looking for a return to Scotland for family reasons?

Higdon is a real quality player. Given that Hearts were also sniffing about him as well however, I imagine he might have something sorted out. I would be surprised if Hearts opted for Sutton over Higdon.

Don't get me wrong, I rate the guy. Saturday however wasn't one of his better days.
