  1. Even if we keep Murphy which I think we will, we need another striker. Very disappointed if Omar Daley turns out to be the last signing.
  2. Steady enough player who knows the SPL well and can offer competition at the back.
  3. Pretty sure the scuppered deal was for a striker.

    Rangers

Law offered the sole source of invention in patches but I'd give motm to Hammell for carrying the "fight".
  5. Don't worry about it too much, according to McCall we won't be judged on performances against the Old Firm.
  6. If we only bring in a couple of new players to bolster the squad, then 3 or 4 of the youngsters need game time on Wednesday.
  7. It would appear that regardless of who lines up in a Rangers shirt, we will continue to roll over. Proper pissed off with the lack of belief and desire when it comes to playing the Old Firm, particularly when you hear a poor St Johnstone have won at Parkhead. I like McCall a lot but today highlighted how tactically naive he can be. Why was Forbes not playing in a tight midfield 3? Why were the full-backs bombing forward against a team that scored 20+ goals against us last season? Craigan and Hutchinson were left hopelessly exposed every time Rangers broke on the counter attack. We played well for 20 mins or so after the opener but we lacked any genuine threat. In truth we played into Rangers hands and the game was over by HT. In terms of individual performances, Murphy has barely kicked a ball since the ICT game, his touch appears to have deserted him. Jennings still looks off the pace. The main concern though is Higdon. While I think he will come good and chip in with a fair few goals we desperately need an alternative centre forward that will lead from the front, link up the play and offer a wee bit of intelligence off the ball. Today we had no focal point to our attack and allowed two rookie defenders to stroll through the match.
  8. Fuck they were magic days. Coyne, Coyle & Falconer loved taking on the h**s.
  9. We were supposedly in with a shout of getting Clarky in January were we not? Lack of imagination on my part but I would expect us to be monitoring both Clarkson and Reynolds who are well out of the picture. Got a hunch that we will end up with someone from Rangers as well.
  10. Didn't realise Rangers were away from home on Thursday, should increase our chances.
  11. Van Der Gaag freekick, I miss a relegation battle.
  12. To have any chance whatsoever we have to get to grips with Naismith, Jelavic and Davis. Three really good players that ran riot against us last season. 451 a must with Forbes in midfield. Murphy and Law supporting Higdon and running beyond him. Everyone talks about our horrific record against Rangers but for a good few years, we were drawing with them at FP on a regular basis. Wouldn't say no to a point on Sunday.
  13. We have played 451 with both Jennings and Lasley in the team.
  14. Glad to see Forbes look comfortable in midfield but motm is between the two centre halves. Hutchy just shades it. Felt for Humphrey, clearly carrying an injury and lacking confidence. Criminal of McCall not to take him off.
  15. Shocking performance from Higdon today but I think he will come good if he can get fully fit. Noticed he was straight down the tunnel at FT.
  16. Dundee United will make a bit of money out of him in the years to come. Good investment.
  17. Derek Weir said weeks ago that there was financial scope to bring in a permanent signing and 2 loans so hopefully that materialises. I do wonder if McCall has got his eye on 1 or 2 established players but needs to wait until the end of the month to see if they are available on loan.
  18. Sore one. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.
  19. Disappointed to see Kerr go if that is indeed the case, he appeared to be a good influence for both Randolph and Hollis. IIRC, Kerr had been looking at options abroad so maybe something materialised? Never had any time for Marshall as a player and his coaching CV doesn't fill me with optimism.
  20. That is a sore one for them. I've only seen St Mirren in their opening game at East End Park. While the hype seems to be around their passing game I was impressed with their work rate off the ball, giving a poor Dunfermline team absolutely no time on the ball. Think this could be 1-0 either way.
  21. When did we last win a league game away from Fir Park?
  22. Hutchy had a couple of shockers against ICT that would have led to goals if they had a competent striker. After a shaky start I thought Saunders came on to a decent game today. Not much between the pair of them.
  23. Good goal from Murphy but I don't think he will have overly impressed any scouts today. Quite happy for him to strike that balance between now and the end of August.
  24. Kept in a cupboard for ten years. Him and Essien will have some fine stories to share.
