  1. As poor as Hibs have been under Calderwood, O'Connor/Griffiths v Craigan/Clancy doesn't fill me with optimism.
  2. No surprise really. With a severe lack of options in defence and upfront, there will be many results like this. Well done to St Johnstone, that will feel good after failing to turn up at Hampden in April.
  3. McCall says we couldn't afford him back as his wages have been taken up by Higdon.
  4. The loss of Hutchinson is going to be a big blow. Given his history with injuries, I never understood why we seemingly gave up in bringing in a left sided defender.
  5. When McCall arrived at Fir Park, I had high hopes that he would prove to be a Tommy McLean type character and inspire us to raise our game against the Old Firm and not be scared to go toe to toe with them. Clearly that hasn't materialised and McCall has went the other way. He is content to go with the stifling Motherwell mindset of measuring success against a Top 6 finish and writing off games against the Old Firm from the outset. In years gone by I could deal with getting pumped 4-0, 5-0 by Laudrup, Larsson, Gascoigne, Moravcik and co but that lack of spirit and belief in recent years against mediocre Old Firm teams has been disgusting. Some blame needs to lie with the players as well. While experienced guys like Craigan, Lasley and Hammell are sound professionals and have been excellent servants to the club they clearly lack the mentality and belief to compete with the Old Firm. So where does the leadership come from?
  6. Same old spineless shite against these Bastards. Scunnered with our pathetic performances against the Old Firm in recent years. The players are beat before they get on the park. That Jamie Forrest boy maybe deserves a call-up to the Scotland squad
  7. He's got no future there until the next gaffer comes in.
  8. If we have learned anything from the recent OF encounters we will play with 3 in the middle of the park and the full backs will be more disciplined. Still plenty of scope to have a right go at them and do ourselves justice.
  9. Reynolds not found a way out of Sheff Wed yet? I thought Megson's antics last night may have proved to be the final slap in the face.
  10. Wonder where Stef Hughes will end up. I'm sure he'd be keen to come back to FP but the timing is off. May have materialised if we hadn't retained Jennings. If John Fleck is to go out on loan, we could do a lot worse.
  11. Would have liked a left sided defender and a striker to provide some depth but it would appear there is little scope for us to do anything in the loan market. Majority of Scottish clubs in the same boat.
  12. Wanted to avoid Hibs, there murder run has to change at some point.
  13. Great performance for the first hour or so. We could have went on to win by 5 or 6 against a very poor Dunfermline team but we over-indulged in our passing game and risked throwing away all our good work. Great to see Humphrey grow in confidence and Higdon bag a couple of goals. Good performances from Hammell, Law and Hateley, while Clancy had a solid debut. Shame we didn't get to see a couple of the younger lads brought on when we were cruising at 3-0.
  14. I'll give it to Humphrey, still frustrating to watch but some turnaround from the player we saw a St Mirren Park a fortnight ago. Law continues to be a joy to watch. Lasley struggling at the moment.
  15. Even if we keep Murphy which I think we will, we need another striker. Very disappointed if Omar Daley turns out to be the last signing.
  16. Steady enough player who knows the SPL well and can offer competition at the back.
  17. Pretty sure the scuppered deal was for a striker.

    Rangers

Law offered the sole source of invention in patches but I'd give motm to Hammell for carrying the "fight".
  19. Don't worry about it too much, according to McCall we won't be judged on performances against the Old Firm.
  20. If we only bring in a couple of new players to bolster the squad, then 3 or 4 of the youngsters need game time on Wednesday.
  21. It would appear that regardless of who lines up in a Rangers shirt, we will continue to roll over. Proper pissed off with the lack of belief and desire when it comes to playing the Old Firm, particularly when you hear a poor St Johnstone have won at Parkhead. I like McCall a lot but today highlighted how tactically naive he can be. Why was Forbes not playing in a tight midfield 3? Why were the full-backs bombing forward against a team that scored 20+ goals against us last season? Craigan and Hutchinson were left hopelessly exposed every time Rangers broke on the counter attack. We played well for 20 mins or so after the opener but we lacked any genuine threat. In truth we played into Rangers hands and the game was over by HT. In terms of individual performances, Murphy has barely kicked a ball since the ICT game, his touch appears to have deserted him. Jennings still looks off the pace. The main concern though is Higdon. While I think he will come good and chip in with a fair few goals we desperately need an alternative centre forward that will lead from the front, link up the play and offer a wee bit of intelligence off the ball. Today we had no focal point to our attack and allowed two rookie defenders to stroll through the match.
  22. Fuck they were magic days. Coyne, Coyle & Falconer loved taking on the h**s.
  23. We were supposedly in with a shout of getting Clarky in January were we not? Lack of imagination on my part but I would expect us to be monitoring both Clarkson and Reynolds who are well out of the picture. Got a hunch that we will end up with someone from Rangers as well.
  24. Didn't realise Rangers were away from home on Thursday, should increase our chances.
  25. Van Der Gaag freekick, I miss a relegation battle.
