  1. Yeah there was a press conference last season with Louis that was a bit of an eye opener. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B_shWLbjAJo
  2. Shame if that's the case but not overly surprising given the arrival of Heneghan and his absence during pre-season. Don't know what has happened there. Had the makings of a decent centre half before faltering at East Fife. Both McGhee and Laing hinted towards a loss of confidence last season. Suspect he'll be on a half decent wage.
  3. Another England C international. Going by the highlights reel he looks a bit of an all rounder. Obvious question would be whether he could handle step up in pace and quality. Given that he was released by Grimsby, I imagine he'd be a low cost option.
  4. That's a comprehensive statement that hopefully puts an end to it. Fair play to the club. Sometimes you'd worry about a player not being happy but Skippy is the ultimate professional imo. Away and sign a quality midfielder now, Henderson isn't getting a look in at Celtic.
  5. I'm not one for defending the media in this country but given the close proximity of McDonalds contract extension, it seems a bit of an obscure story to develop out of nowhere. Recent years would suggest that when it comes to McDonald, one or two journalists tend to know the script.
  6. I actually meant to say billionaire but obviously my brain wouldn't allow me.
  7. If an opportunity to head to Sydney has suddenly arisen, I'd wish him well. I'd also expect the club to be accommodating given his service to the club. Nevertheless, to let him leave without a transfer fee, however nominal that may be, would be hugely disappointing. Clearly though, the Keith Jackson story is at odds with Burrows tweet this morning. Would like to think Burrows is more trustworthy than the journalist that celebrate Craig Whyte as a multi millionaire.
  8. That was my original thinking but realistically who would have offered compensation for Moore.
  9. I'm not sure Melvin. Fail to win in 90 mins and we are most probably out. Last season we were outplayed on a perfect pitch at East Fife before McDonald and Moult (iirc?) got us out of jail in extra time. I think we need to go with strongest team possible if we are taking this competition seriously. I wouldn't be surprised however if we protect the likes of Hammell due to plastic surface.
  10. Burrows saying there have been no enquiries about McDonald. Not convinced this story has developed from thin air though. McDonald is not shy in using the media and the Daily Mail seem to have a feel for dealings at Fir Park, particularly since Les came on the scene.
  11. There's no way we have a better team at this moment with Pearson gone and Lasley a year older. Our midfield is of significant concern.
  12. So we weren't continuously talking to him as suggested?
  13. If the story is true, few options spring to mind: a) Motherwell resigned McDonald with a view to netting a transfer fee b) McDonald not happy (possibly with strength of squad) c) our precarious financial position is deteriorating d) opportunity to go to Sydney has came out the blue.
  14. Trying not to be knee-jerk but what the fuck is going on?
  15. If he can get a move to Blackburn good luck to him. However it was mentioned on radio tonight that Dunfermline still hold a glimmer of hope that he'll return.
  16. Given that we did offer El Bakhtaoui a contract a few months ago, I wouldn't be surprised if we are still monitoring his situation. Presumably though, there would be other outgoings lined up to accommodate El Bakhtaoui and a midfielder.
  17. Suspect this was the plan along. Slightly surprised with the timing though given our league cup specialty and the absence of Moult. Hopefully Ayr are picking up the bulk of his wage.
  18. Before the signing of McHugh, McGhee stated than an attacking midfielder was his priority. He indicated that he had targets in mind. This will still be the case. Despite the income from Pearson however, I suspect he may have to 'wheel and deal' a wee bit more than originally anticipated. Digressing a little, do we know if Lucas is still on trial?
  19. If we don't sell Marvin, I think a loan move for Thomas would be wise. It worked out relatively well for Erwin. It's hard to judge him on substitute appearances but from what I've seen he goes from being an absolute standout at u20 level to struggling to impose his style against more experienced and stronger opposition at first team level. Gifted footballer there if we are patient with him.
  20. Is this a plastic pitch? If so we may leave the likes of Hammell and Blyth out. I hope to see Thomas and Moore get some game time, it's a big month for them. Will be interesting to see how we play in a game where we are expected to dominate possession.
  21. Commentator said that Moult will be going for minor surgery. Also said Blyth is carrying an Achilles injury.
  22. I was thinking we may have took some time to readdress the budget, particularly when there was talk of us and Thistle chasing compensation. Anyway, having just watched McGhee's interview I sense he's just putting a wee bit of pressure on the Board to squeeze every penny possible.
  23. If we genuinely have no money left, then the budget must have been altered during the summer, possibly due to the fixture misunderstanding. Blyth, Tait and Heneghan were all brought in early doors with the intention of bringing in a midfielder. Then we lose Pearson for a rumoured £100k and McGhee says an attacking midfielder is a priority. Hopefully an admin fuck up isn't going to hamper our chances.
  24. No sure what to make of it. Defensively, Rangers were terrible but we failed to capitalise time after time in the first half. On the ball, Rangers were miles ahead but other teams in the league would have taken more than 2 off us. Way too early to judge how we will do this season but we desperately need a replacement for Pearson and an alternative to a half fit Hammell. Overall, glad I stayed in the house. Roll on Killie away.
  25. One of our key targets last summer, Jackson Irvine has left County after Burton activated his release clause. He'll be a loss to the league but nice return for County with the transfer fee possibly in excess of £500k.
