  1. There's no competitive advantage, we are talking about a team just promoted. Ross County should be viewed no differently to Rangers. The Leagur cup game will help financially but bearing it mind gate receipts are split, it won't come close to covering a league game at £25 a head.
  2. I did say almost guaranteed. We can be as creative as we like but with the loan market is always going to be an obvious market.
  3. Like Burrows initial reaction, I'm not in favour of the Partick Thistle statement at all. In the interest of sporting integrity we ensured that the newly formed Rangers club startedin the lowest division and rightly so. Now that they have arrived in the league, they shouldn't be treated in anyway different to the other 11 teams in the league. Unfortunately there is the odd negativity to such parity but it's hypocritical to complain and we are playing right into the 'blue pound' argument. Budgeting for 3 'old firm' homes games without consulting with the spfl is utterly incompetent on the part of Partick Thistle and by the sounds of it, Motherwell.
  4. Celtic gave away their right to the first game being at home so that another club wouldn't lose a home gate when the friendly comes around.
  5. That's because Celtc are cancelling their 2nd game to play Inter Milan. It's been deemed only fair that should a team cancel for a glamour friendly, it should coincide with a home game. Good move.
  6. We are almost guaranteed to bring in one or two on loan. If it happened to Lee Erwin, I'd be delighted. I expect him to have other and arguably more appealing options though.
  7. Ironically, the misgivings stem from the SPFL not manipulating 'Old Firm' fixtures to suits provincial clubs.
  8. We had Celtic and Aberdeen twice at home pre-split last season. Likewise, we'll get them twice at home next season. Any shortfall that arises from these fixtures would be due to a Board oversight.
  9. The computer just done the same as its done in previous years though, replacing the relegated team with the promoted team. There's been an oversight due to the assumption that the introduction of Rangers would lead to a systemic change.
  10. I'd agree with that. Going by Burrows reaction though and ST pricing, there was an assumption that we'd return to pre newco traditions.
  11. In principle I don't think fixtures should be balanced to reflect size of club. However, I think today emphasis that the league structure should be balanced in a way that you play every team the same number of times home and away. We, along with Accies and Thistle by the looks of it, have taken a significant financial hit today. However it's a structure all clubs seem to support.
  12. So, we raised ST prices, partly to reflect the increase in 'Category 1' games...
  13. Away twice to both Celtic and Rangers. Bad news financially but good news for the soul.
  14. It's Andy Devlin. He tends to know the score at Fir Park. I don't think he was saying anyone was definitely away. Just reported interest.
  15. As are Sydney. He gets about.
  16. Agree with that. I suspect Erwin will have higher aspirations but McGhee would be a fine option to get his head sorted and give him a chance to fulfil his potential.
  17. And how deluded McCall was to give ZFA and Cummins decent contracts.
  18. According to Scott Mullen, we're keeping tabs on Erwin while Lasley, Hammell and Skippy all look like staying.
  19. Once a rumoured target, Jamille Matt signs for Blackpool.
  20. That is precisely my view in this. Despite his age his importance to the team is such that you'd need to be offered daft money, say £250k, in order to accept it.
  21. Weirdly, a Thistle fan at my work was talking about an ex Motherwell player but had no name. If he's available at our level of wages, we should be all out to get him. He's worth 10/15 points a season. Laing could go to right back and Kennedy would provide strong competition. I still think bigger clubs will be interested in him though.
  22. Fine for Motherwell but shite for the national team if some of our best prospects (not saying Leitch is) get gobbled up by English development teams and hit the age of 20 without a sniff of competitive football.
  23. Pretty depressing for Scottish football. Good luck to the boy but you can't expect Motherwell to pay over the odds for a player who is at least a season away from 1st team action.
  24. Doesnt look great if our head of youth can't keep his own son at the club but fair play to Robbie if he's got a move to England, he looks a cracking prospect. Still all rumours at the moment but are we starting to see a growing trend of our youth prospects getting picked up by English clubs before they've even made an impression in our first team.
  25. Deserves his promotion and place on the Board. Good luck to the guy over the weekend.
