  1. I see the WS have been busy on twitter today. So the point is being reiterated that we're looking for 2,000 members contributing an average of £10 a month. A target we hoped to achieve by Dec 15. So £240k a year, a decent buffer. Am I right in saying that out of out 1600+ members, around 25% are contributing monthly?
  2. Fancy us to win this for some reason but we'll need to defend well. 2-1 Skippy and Moult.
  3. There is no way that the WS, in it's current guise, is capable of owning the football club. Little leadership or business nuance has been demonstrated from the start and we're struggling to generate sustained income. It was mentioned above that 60% of ST holders haven't joined the WS and phonecalls will be made. 25 years of going to FP and I've yet to receive 1 call. I appreciate this has partly been due to an outdated database. However every single one of us that bought tickets for the playoffs should have been bombarded, capitalising on our state of euphoria. It's time to be realistic about what is achievable. At the inception of the WS I ascertained that our role was to provide an interest free overdraft. This was denied by the club and society. As it transpires, I think this is the best we can offer. It's time to accept the limitation of our combined interest and expertise and commit to providing a financial buffer during lean times. This security would be in exchange for a proportional and engaging share of the club, nowhere near outright ownership. The club meanwhile needs to budget accordingly and seek leadership from inside. I'm concerned to read that we're still budgeting on top 6 finishes. This is preposterous for a small club looking to live within it's means.
  4. I'll no be attending myself but hopefully it's a night where some confidence is restored and a viable strategy is presented.
  5. Am I right in saying that while £180k has been repaid to cover Les' 2nd loan in January to pay for Straker, Thomas & co, there is no word if the arrears on the £650k repayment schedule has been cleared?
  6. Murphy fits right into the Strachan style of play and was worthy of a shot when Anya went off the boil. Rightly or wrongly, Strachan wouldn't entertain League 1 players though. Pleased to see him and McCormack do so well in England and hopefully their time in a Scotland jersey comes.
  7. I'm not much of a Vigurs fan but I naturally applauded his sublime strike, as well as the cross from Tansey. In a league that is bereft of quality I'll applaud or acknowledge a fine piece of skill in a run of the mill game regardless of what shirt they are wearing. Regarding the pen I thought it was a stonewaller at the time due to how high McManus hand was. Watching it back it's a soft award but can see why it was given. The retake is also the correct decision. Seeing the highlights this morning reaffirms my initial feeling of positivity coming away from Fir Park. Show that commitment and belief every week and we'll comfortably finish mid-table.
  8. Really encouraging performance from Grimshaw imo. He didn't always make the right decision but by and large, he looks capable of running a midfield in a similar manner to Jennings. He's the one loan player we should hold onto in January.
  9. I'd say 8/9 out of the 11 who started today are more than good enough for this level. We just need improved coaching and proper full backs.
  10. Some of our play was flawed today but I really enjoyed it and at 3-0, still thought we had a chance. McGhee got his tactics wrong in 1st half. Time after time Inverness have overrun us in midfield at Fir Park and that wasn't going to stop with Marvin playing as a 3rd midfielder. To be fair to McGhee, we don't have many options in midfield. We were unlucky to come in 2 down at half time to a retaken, albeit stonewall, pen and a deflection. Our luck was really out cracking the woodwork. Vigurs then rubbed salt into the wounds with his annual screamer. On the plus side, I think we have plenty of quality going forward. There was signs of McGhee's interplay coming to the fore but it didn't quite click. Albeit I think we'd have had a better chance of getting a point of Skippy had stayed on. His legs were going but his brain is miles ahead. Grimshaw my motm, Moult cementing his place as my favourite and Joe Chalmers woeful. We'll be fine this season if we continue to match the level of effort put in today.
  11. No mention of his career threatening back injury? Looking forward to today. Hope to see Moult and Skippy upfront.
  12. 1600 members is quite a lift. Were we not down to 1100/1200 after the ticket hungry h**s dropped off?
  13. We weren't the only game that only showed goal(s). 5 min highlights online for anyone that wants them plus 2 games on alba. Not bad going.
  14. We gave them an absolute doing that day. Going by highlights in the last 2 weeks, Marvin looks rejuvenated. Again going by highlights, the final ball isn't always there but we're getting plenty bodies in the box. Pleased to see Moult on the scoresheet. Really likeable player and a top prospect. Looking forward to us being back at Fir Park next week.
  15. The Lee Erwin inspired victory at Rugby Park in April was one of my highlights of last season. Killie seem to have turned things around but hopefully we pick up at least a point. Will be interesting to see if the likes of Marvin and Fletcher will be risked on the plastic pitch.
  16. According to McCall on the TV a few weeks back, it certainly wasn't lack of application or desire that held Forbes back.
  17. Judging by the highlights, a very deserved point although Aberdeen should have probably been out of sight early in 2nd half. Highlights would suggest we were pretty ropey at the back on occasion, particularly down Chalmers side, but good to see us creating plenty chances again and getting bodies in the box. Textbook header from Skippy. If he's fit, that should be him back in the starting XI. Credit to McGhee and the players for putting in such a shift. Hopefully we can kick on from here and it's not a false dawn like the Tannadice performance back in Jan when Pearson and Erwin impressed greatly.
  18. Good solid point from what sounds like a much improved performance. Shame the Alba highlights aren't until tomorrow.
  19. Fagan scored from about 20 yards in a 5-0 win over Falkirk at FP. Think he scored a good yin against Hibs too.
  20. Just get in the house to check the score and Rooney scores. Fuck. Is Moult wide left today?
  21. McGinn and Hayes should run riot against our non-existent full-backs. 3-0 Aberdeen.
  22. I can mind thinking we had signed a cracking striker in Derek Adams. Came with a great scoring record at Ross County and then showed sublime technique to score a consolation on his debut (I think) against Celtic. He went on to be a good servant for Motherwell but not the striker I expected. There have been numerous young players on the fringes who showed brief glimpses of promise before quickly disappearing down the leagues and/or out the game. I fear Craig Moore is about to join that group. The only one the club wrongly let go was Lawless. When I was young, two players I quickly latched onto in the early 90s were McGrillen and Burns. Again both went on to have decent careers but neither notched up the number of goals for Motherwell that I envisaged. And finally, Ross Forbes, I've rarely seen such technique and composure in a young Motherwell player. Evidently he didn't have the engine but surely with the right coaching, he'd have played at a high level.
  23. Hearing from Craigan and Leitch in recent days, it seems apparent that Watt and Thomas don't have the same maturity and mental strength that Faddy, Clarkson, Pearson and Hammell displayed at 17/18.
  24. Hopefully you get a more rewarding turnout next time but it sounds like you put on a right good show Andy. Familiar with some of the stories if your podcast guests, it was very interesting to hear Scott Leitch speak at length.
  25. Good to hear and glad to see Luke Watt is back in the frame. Surprised none of the 1st team squad were included but that may be done to the double sessions.
