  1. Aye sounds no a bad idea at all guys and I would be up fer it.

I reckon if you pick the right night for it, Colin would do it for next to nowt. He probably makes enough from folk buying bevvy to justify it.

  2. Wallbash Wallbash.

If ye sold it out of view, all this pish about Papac is irrelevant. I think I might start another poll so folk can look at the REAL option.

A lot of very good reasons said why it canny happen in view of the game, but out of view? Remember in England, ye canny take it to your seat.

  3. Yeah, you would be right steelman1991.

I don't think he was ever charged but yeah I was referring to MacAskill being arrested at Wembley in 1999 for allegedly being drunk and disorderly.

Very much a case of "Do as I say, not as I do" when it comes to this issue I believe.

Erm, no sure MacAskill would vote it in as he seems to be right behind anything that makes us drink less as a nation. As I said earlier but, this might actually help us drink less if you take into account the fact it will reduce the binge drinking.

As for the point someone made earlier about the guys at the last Rangers game, Booze at the games would probably make no difference to them as they would probably stay outside the ground until Kick Off tanning cheap booze. By the time they would be in the ground, the bars would be closed until half time. To clarify there is 2 different arguments here. One is booze in the grounds at any time and in view of the game. The other is booze out of view served before the game and at half time (like in England). The latter I'm in favour of. If yer in favour of the former then ye should probably save yourself the admission and stay in the pub for a few hours.

  4. I'm in the Ruddy - Best ever - camp.

For me, our defence was awful all season up until Broon took over (even then it has looked ropey at times). The fact we managed to get through the first 1/4 of the season undefeated was down to Ruddy and Ruddy only.

The Tannadice save is the 3rd best save I've seen a Motherwell keeper make. The best is Goram's from Henrik Larsson at Parkhead and the 2nd best was Francois DuBordeau from Billy Dodds against Rangers at home. I suppose that is proof that even shite keepers can make wonderful saves, but Ruddy is still the best I have seen in a Pink or Blue jersey!

  5. I'm in favour. Personally having been to many Premiership matches, the All Seated environment sanitises the atmosphere and I cannot see any reason why they shouldn't bring it back.

Many a time I have been seen downing a quick half before heading upto Fir Park from Daniels because it would be the last booze for a few hours. If you let people have a booze in the ground it would get them in early (extra revenue and less hassle coz they would be segregated earlier) and would stop the pre-match binge.

  6. I know this should be in the Trust forum, but just for a bit more exposure...

  7. Guys & Girls

Just to make you all aware. We are hosting a Poker Night at Jack Daniels Bar on Tuesday 16th of February.

The night will kick off at 7pm for Registration, with games commencing at 7.30pm.

There promises to be a few First Team players at the event and there will also be Champions League Football on the Big Screens as well, with the highlight the mouthwatering tie between Ac Milan and Man Utd.

Buy In for the event will be £8 for Trust Members and £10 for Non Members.

Numbers for this event are limited to a MAXIMUM OF 68.

So the night can run as smooth as possible, we are inviting participants to Pre Register. If participants could please PM me to let me know they are planning to come along, I will give you details of my PayPal account and arrange for the appropriate funds to be sent forward.

Feel free also to grab myself or any of the other Board Members at the game on Wednesday night or away on Saturday.

Once players are knocked out, we are operating a No Rebuy policy. However, tables permitting, we will open a second side game with entry fees set at £4 for Trust Members and £5 for Non Members. Late comers will also be invited into the side game.

Prizes will be allocated for places 1 to 3 in the main game for certain. Numbers permitting, we will extend the pot from positions 1 to 5 for prizes.

Dependant on numbers, the side game will operate on a Winner Takes All basis. If there are too many people involved in this game, we will extend the pot to prizes for positions 1 to 3.

Pitch In - The funds from this account were mainly spent on stuff like the Disabled Enclosure, like painting the boot room etc. Essentially this fund is dry and there isn't many (if any) money coming into it. Instead everything we have given to the club has been through funds generated at our events. A lot of folk gave up on the Pitch In fund I feel because they didn't feel they got anything for their money, whilst at events they at least got a bit of entertainment for their lolly.

We still have a wedge of cash sitting in the Share Fund, but we can only spend it on shares, unless the people who gave us the money will allow us to use the money for other purposes. More on that in due course!

Definitely worth considering if folk want the Pitch In re-activated.

In terms of Winter Training and training in general, I doubt any amount of money we could get together would make Dalziel anything to be proud of. That said, the council are building a big new facility at Ravenscraig which we could perhaps help fund the team using, rather than making them go to Toryglen alongside other teams who can suss out our tactics?

One fund-raiser that we are planning for later in the year is a Car Boot Sale. We would of course be happy for the participants to take their profits home with them from this day if they so wished, however if they would be happy to donate a percentage or all of their profits to the Trust from this day, it will go a long way in paying for these ideas. No idea how much the growth lamps would cost to buy and run, but would the covers not need to be tented? As far as I aware they just lie flat on the pitch just now.

  9. It's a Thread regarding the art of formal communication. If they can't get it right from the onset, what chance enhancing their profile and/or attracting new members ?

So what - we get our spelling wrong some times. Even the newspapers and authors do.

  10. My predictions for saturday?

Probably something along the lines of Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh Oh Oh Oh, Oh Oh, Oh Oh, Oh Ooh Oh ;)

    Followed by Mutley moaning.

Canny make it up which means we'll win.

  11. Just had a gander at the SPL web-site. Either they are shit hot at updating the crime count or it's wrong as it already shows 1 red for Motherwell. It also shows Accies as only having 1 when they have had at least 2 (1 vs us and 1 vs Hearts that I know of).

If the stats are robust but, we have the least Yellow Cards so we might still be on course for Fair Play still.

  12. My favourite memory of Falkirk was last season.

Sang songs about Bob Malcolm and Mark Fitzpatricks lack of ability on a Falkirk bus.

Got in for a concession (didny ask for one either!).

Bought myself a pie, bovril and poke of crisps, gave the boy a tenner at the kiosk and he gave me £14 change.

Went back to the pub and spent hours listing my favourite Ex-Dundee players.

Sang the theme tune to Dream Team all the way home.

Fun times - Bet you wish ye were in ma gang.

  13. Joe the club have fannied about for years with this problem, it's alright spouting demographically selected this and that like in the past, but with no way of proving if this idea or that idea is working then they would be as well throwing the free tickets down the shitter, our attendances have been falling steadily before the recession hit, what was done before that, virtually nothing.

If we want to increase and retain a larger attendance then they need to get serious about it fast, it seems that those in the know can walk the walk, but few seem able to talk the talk.

The debate about dropping prices can work, if we say there are 1000 pay at the gates every week and on average it costs £20 to attend a match, you drop that to £15 and get another 350 through the gates your making money. But to gain any advantage in doing this you need to follow such an initiative with hard data, which is what the club fail to do.

Like I say they need to stop faffing about and take this issue seriously

    Moe,

I know from our previous spats that you'll love this response and my shameless name drop, but Leeann Dempster has all the stats and statistics and has ideas on how to grow both the number of season ticket holders and the folk through the gate overall.

The biggest problem that the club would probably admit to was with the previous way they used to gather customer data so your no doubt on the money when you say they didn't properly track the number of customers and the names of them that were hooked in by free tickets.

I got a flavour of how she wants to achieve crowd growth and some of her ideas in my last meeting with her, but I can't post anything on here as it is for her to agree these ideas with the Club Board and convince them of the merits of them.

As mentioned by another poster, if any of her ideas are to be implemented, I doubt you will see anything done this season due to the usual outcry that happens from Season Ticket holders when folk get in for less than them.

Only thing I would openly criticise the club for not doing recently is for promoting to the fans heavily just how good

the value of our season ticket is vs. the other premier clubs. The last time I can remember us really going to town with this type of promotion was the season we finished bottom under Butcher.

  14. Great post and discussion item.

I really like the sound of the pledges resulting in lower prices. You could set it as a tenner or twenty quid deposit. If your not happy with the price that is arrived at, you don't get your money back! That would go a long way to cover the deficit caused by those who don't pay up.

I think the club would much rather have 5,000 season ticket holders than 2,000 with 2,000 floaters.

In terms of discounting prices overall, as far as I am concerned it does little to boost the long term gate. When they drop it to circa £10 a ticket, 7,000 come. If they done that every week it would drop back to 4,000 a week in less than 3 games.

  15. Motherwell have buried there heads in the sand for years on this issue, regime changes bring promises of change, then when it becomes difficult they give up.

It seems the best they could come up with of late was throwing free tickets at schools, with no thought of any serious follow up to see if anything changed.

Someone at MFC wants their arse kicking for letting it get to this stage

I don't actually think the club have gave up at all. Someone earlier pointed out that attendances always drop in a recession. The club are probably working their backsides off to stand still.

Aye they could drop the price and get some extra numbers on, but the extra numbers wouldn't cover the drop in income.

I'm sure they would be more than happy to try any good idea to put extra numbers on the gate, whilst still retaining the same amount of money for the playing budget.
