  1. I'll probably throw a longer response on this thread later on a couple of my ideas but just to pick up quickly on one thing. Free school/kids tickets need to be doled out and validated in advance so the police know the accurate numbers. Example - If you hand out 10,000 free tickets, you need to police as if there was 10,000 extra fans coming along. Then you might only get 1,000 extra through the gate and you've lost money through police costs. Its no as easy as you think to give away a freebie!

Aye yer spot on Moe... me and the rest of the Trust are only in it for ourselves, get hunners of free tickets doled out to us, only look after our favourite fans and sites. I could sit and list the numerous thinks myself and my happy clappy bunch have done for the club, including lending support to the club last week to get the St Johnstone game on and were prepared to go up on the morning before the Accies game to graft and get the game on again, but of course that will mean nothing to you because we are only it for ourselves. We do try and be impartial and cover all bases, but please remember, we are a voluntary group lending our personal time to do a bit of good for our club now and into the future. We are never going to be able to fire out press releases on all sites in a coordinated fashion due to the fact we are not an organisation that gets together daily/weekly and puts soundbites out to keep the media happy. Instead we try our hardest to make our voice (your voice too as you are a supporter) heard in the club and make sure we can cascade the info back to you through these mediums. We are also human and do sometimes forget that there is more than one Motherwell Web-Page. Please also remember that the Trust hadn't been active with communication up until November when we had a shake up. That's all for me just now, I'm away on Holiday to enjoy my prawn sandwiches...
  4. StevieD - Think your spot on with that assessment. You only have to look at the bottom end of Airbles Road where Barratt have been proposing to build flats fur years and probably never will... The land is probably worth a mint, but no one will buy it for a few years yet. If Ravenscraig gets built, then the council may well give us a stadium for free/cheap to attract people to the area and investment from the government for a train station etc. Until then, the club need to decide to make it look even more like a patchwork quilt or bulldoze the offending stands and rebuild.

Your right Al, Leeann and all the staff at the club are up to their eyeballs at the minute. I take the point about not posting on FPC though and will try and get myself back on there more often... Nothing against the people or the patter on the site (many times the patter is actually far better), I just prefer the layout on this site of how the posts and the conversation flows. Plus it's busier so I just usually through force of a habit come on this ere forum! One final thing on the ground issue - I don't know if anyone else noticed that the Queens Park game is called off today. Even the national stadium isn't able to get games on today so maybe were no that bad after all.

Not sure what the costs of the repairs to each will be Brazilian, but certainly if it helps prevent games being called off and does not cost that much, then the club would be foolish not to consider doing it. The club have already shown they will do this with the park where it made sense to spend a fortune. That said but, in the East, it's not just the pipes that are knackered. You've also got the issue of the leaky roof which will only get worse that people have been moaning about on here in other threads. It's no surprise that the two stands that are occupied during the week are fine, and the two that get used only on a saturday are not. That's why when teams move to new facilities they put lots of offices, bars etc through all the stands. The single biggest problem with Fir Park now is that there are so many things in need of repair in the whole stadium that the cost of simply getting a game on is becoming too much. I wouldn't be surprised if the club don't consider simply shutting one of the stands and using the money to do one of them right. That would be the sensible thing for a business to do, but given we are a fitba club, sense like this goes out the windae and we demand that our seat is in the same place as it always has been.

Nay bogs jim! No water for bovril and catering staff to wash their hands. Ice on the stand doesn't get any sunlight to thaw it. Leeann said there would be no realistic chance of improvement between now and tomorrow so better to make the decision today. Easy option? The club will loose a fortune not getting the game on so far from it. The easy option would be to bury the head in the sand and delude us that there would a chance of iy going ahead.

Disappointed with this but the club really have their hands tied. Leeann Dempster phoned me to brief me on the reasons behind it and from what she's said, I think she's made the right call. The East has always had problems with burst pipes for as long as I can remember, but didn't think the South was prone to many problems. The biggest problem is that Football Stadiums don't have central heating, so as soon as you try and turn the pipes on, you burst them in this weather. She said that if we were playing someone like St Johnstone where the crowd would be forecast to be circa 4,000, the game could probably have went ahead with 2 stands as the Cooper and Main would be big enough. The fact it's a new year derby means that the numbers are harder to predict. The groundstaff have been in for the last two days, giving up their New Year celebrations and have investigated every avenue, like taking temporary measures to get the top of the south open for some fans at least, but all have failed.
  9. After last night and his interviews, I would be more than happy if we got Craig Brown for keeps.
  10. I've had great fun this morning trying tae get back in ma burds good books efter last night! On the game, thought Saunders looked weak defensively but can certainly cross a ball. If Brown can coach him into playing the ball a bit earlier so the ball is further away from the keeper he would be brilliant going forward. Did any of you notice Brown has started straight away putting men on both posts at corners? Prevented a certain goal after about 20 mins. Progress!

    Catering

Brilliant patter from Cowan Seriously - I've been talking to the club about this issue for a few weeks now - it's no just the punters in the east that are getting gantin food right now... even the prawn sandwich brigade are getting a wee bit angry at substandard scran.
  13. Magic Yer right I'll no join in wae it. Tell you what but, I'll ask Coke, Humphrey and Moutuakil to join in wae it if it's alright? I'm sure they love a bit of Nazi patter? I don't actually think the lads that chanted it are racists, after all it's the same bunch of lads that cheer on Yassin every week (even although he is gantin). But that patter is dreadful and will endear us to no-one. Leave it at hame thanks!
  14. I notice quite a few of our younger esteemed supporters brought back my least favourite chant tonight.
  15. For me, the only way you can improve the East Stand would be to bulldoze it and build a stand similar to Tynecastle across from the main. We don't have the boodle to do that, so we have to make do with oor East Stand me thinks. It could do with a new Tannoy, it could do with better catering, it could do with a bookies and it could do with beer. Interestingly, if you put beer in it, I have no doubt the rest would be paid for by the beer revenue. Seriously thou, I would take it forward as a suggestion for the Trust to take to the club, anything that could improve the East but not cost a fortune. So gives your ideas, and if possible how much it would cost for your improvement. We canny put beer in but without Kenny McCaskill's say-so and he'll no allow it after he got lifted all them years ago.
  16. More right than wrong of late. Only time will tell if sacking Gannon is/was a blunder. The biggest blunder he has made is by not making him sign a contract in the first place! Even if it was a 6 month rolling contract or something like that. As I have said in previous threads, Brown will lead us to a higher position in the table this season than Gannon would have. Next season but, I have no doubt Gannon would have put us in better long term shape due to his philosophy... That said if he didny have a contract he could have jumped at the first sniff of a bigger opportunity and if the rumours on other threads are true about him having interviews with other clubs then we would never have seen the long term benefits. His best decisions of late have been... -The way he got rid of Malpas, -Attracting a high quality of candidates when Malpas left, -Attracting even higher quality of managers when McGee left, -Being brave enough to take a manager onboard with less of a track record than these candidates because of his long term plan he presented to the club -Appointing Leeann Dempster More right than wrong and the club still punches above it's weight whilst remaining out of debt.
  17. BBC Reports Craig Brown will be announced tomorrow as interim manager. Delighted if so!

    New Manager

Not sure if it's been mentioned in the 10 pages of shouts so far but I would be willing to stick a tenner on Scott Leitch getting the job. Only reason I say that is because he was in the stand on Saturday sitting next to Youngy. No sure what time the sheep game got cried off, that was probably his main reason for being at Fir Park, but might have seen enough to inspire him to give it a go.
  19. El Grew I agree and disagree with your post to an extent. From talking to Gannon and listening what he had to say at the Trust Fans Forum a few weeks ago I can see the philosophy he was trying to get across to his players. Take just two elements of it, the lack of fouls & passing the ball from the back forward rather than hoofing it. I reckon he didn't like players like Lasley and Craigan as he couldn't stop them fouling, playing long balls and their positioning would often fall back to how they were taught to play the game, not how Gannon wanted it played. The issue is that Gannon wanted to start almost an entire team of youngsters as he felt he could mould them and teach them how to play under his philosophy. The trouble is you have a player in Saunders who is having a nightmare run of form and needs a break. Gannon should have focused on individual areas of the park, or three young players max to blood at the one time. Instead he cut out the experienced players who could have helped the team still deliver decent results on the park, while the Saunders and Forbes of this world dropped back for a couple of weeks to regain their form. I actually think we have enough quality in the team to maintain 4th or 5th... Under Gannon I believe we would have been bottom 6 but due to his lack of faith or tolerance in the experience.
  20. 16 pages that I canny be arsed reading... Only thing that needs to be said from me is - play players in their correct position please Gannon and give Saunders a rest. He was awful yesterday. Crags and Reynolds could have easily made up our centre half partnership and Hammell at left back.
  21. Every cloud and that... He actually had a good game the day I thought. Well, an excellent 1st half but the whole team were mince 2nd half.
  22. Cheers to the couple of lads who made it along this morning. Great effort in helping the club get the covers off and scooping the snow off the ground round the park! I guess a few folk that had commited to come along had worse than expected hangovers
  23. Cheers for all the PM's offering help guys. I'm not able to send messages back due to the flood control on this board. Basically - The club have called today and have said they certainly will need help on Saturday morning. The covers are being left on until the morning to be on the safe side so they would like us to help for an hour taking them off. Start time is 8.30am infront of the main stand if you can come along. Will text everyone who has left me a number if there is any change. From the clubs end, everything is being done to make sure this game goes ahead. Hope the council do the same for the roads around in general!
  24. Dear All I've just had a call from the club asking for the Trust to help organise support from any supporters willing to help get Saturday's game on. At this moment the covers are on the park and the heating is on... the park is almost certain to be playable. The big danger comes with the surrounding areas. The club MAY need help scooping snow from the side of the park, spreading salt over the stands and on the pavements around the entrances to the park. The covers also weigh a ton so the club may need help lifting these off of the park. I would like any fans willing to lend their help and support to the club to drop me a PM with your name, number and where you live (don't need your address - just your town area) so I can put together a list of names who can be "On Standby" to come up and lend a few hours of graft in the morning to make sure the game goes ahead. Please be assured, this is just a precaution and there is a greater than 50% chance that your services wont be called upon. Any help, very much appreciated by both the Trust and the Club. I've also volunteered for the Trust to donate Rock Salt to the club in the future to support their efforts to get games on now and in the future. Thanks in advance Joe

Amazed people are voting for Hutchison... I thought he was partly culpiable for 2 goals. Not got a clue about the ending of the game but coz the subway was more appealing. For me Yassin got neither plus nor minus marks. The Juke was the only player with positive marks on my scorecard so he gets it.
