Unless I am mistaken, this is who we've brought in so far, which means we're probably still looking for a centre-back, maybe another midfielder, and at least two forwards.

    Defenders
    Monty
    Elliot

    Midfielders
    Halliday

    Forwards
    Hee haw

Don't tell me we're signing another Japanese forward......

You can be vague about context of circumstances and mitigation all you like but you cannot deny the fact that in the modern game going 15 games without a win is indefensible.

Wilkinson has moved on? That makes up for signing him? He was god awful. Obika might be away soon? That again makes up for extending his deal? Having zero wingers in our squad to give us any form of plan B, who's idea was that? When he gets rid of Olli Shaw in this window does that make it a good signing coz he only lasted 6 months as well? I really can't quite fathom why it's okay to sign these players so long as they get "moved on" just a few months later.

Did you consider Tommy McLean to be a decent manager ?

Wee Tam bought and moved on countless dud players in his time.  Every team in the league buys and moves on players that don't work out for them for one reason or another and every manager has done it more often than anyone would be able to remember.

In the market we're in and the competition for mediocre players, I seriously don't get where you think we should be able to magically find great players for no so great money and have every one we try work out well.

The fact that the standard of football in our league is going down is not the fault of our club or anybody who works for them. It's the current economics of the game leaves our manager (and every other Scottish manager apart from the h**s and the Tims and maybe Hearts and Hibs scrabbling around in the same murky pool. Every now and again you unearth a gem and a lot of the time you don't.

If you look back to the signing of Moult, he was brought in as 'a project' and the main man was to be a guy who'd played at a higher level (Wes Fletcher). We all know how that turned out.  When you deal in that pool, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's like buying a £500 car. Blaming Motherwell for making the mistakes made by almost every club and manager in the league is pointless.

  3. 16-0 to St Johnstone. We've got shite players and a shite manager and they've got a great manager and even better players. They've also never signed a player who didn't work out. Heavy defeat followed by a special SFA meeting where they make the decision to relegate us immediately after the game.

Either that or we might win....

Hibs were very lucky to beat Forfar.

Ross County were gubbed by Thistle.

Hearts needed a late goal to beat Spartans.

    St Johnstone lost to Airdrie.

St Mirren struggled to a one nil one win at home over League One opposition.

These cup games immediately after the break are often tight or throw up shocks. Partly because it's cup of course, but mostly because the lower league teams don't get a break and have an edge on match fitness.

Every other team in our league has better managers and better players and they also win every week while we lose every week with shite players that no one wants and a useless 'oot his depth' manager.

Bearing that in mind, this anomaly in yesterdays results seems somewhat illogical.

He sounds like a guy who doesn't fancy going in on Monday. Levein sounded scunnered in his interview too. Maybe the pair of them have woken up to the realities of managing a provincial club in 2024.

This can't be right cause there's only one team in the top flight thats got crap players and a manager that's out of his depth, and thats us. If you were to get your information from here that is 🙂

Apologies if this has already been covered? But did the commentator on MFC TV say Obika is away to Southend? Or was that wishful thinking on my part?

Didn't hear them say that but I got a text from a mate (usually not to bad for story reliability) saying Obika is offski for an 'undisclosed fee'. I think thats the footie equivalent of yer maw telling your your hamster has 'gone to live on a farm' when you were wee 🙂

For all Motherwell have been really poor, their peers from the premier league are doing just as badly, if not worse

I was about to post something similar, but i reckoned i'd get called a 'happy clapper' by some of the wanks on this forum who were willing to stake their mortgage on defeat today.

  8. Of the teams sitting 12th to 5th, only Aberdeen have a better 'last 5 games' points tally than us.  You can't just look at us in isolation.

I happened to be sitting next to a senior SFA official on a flight yesterday and he told me we're going to a 14 team league with an 8/6 split 'sooner rather thn later'.

Never mind me, this isn’t about me. Do you have any views on Slattery’s injury? How well fare without him? Where this leaves us?

I can't have any views on Slattery's injury (other than it's not great news) because I don't know how or why it happened and I can't fix it. I'm sure though, that the staff all know about it and the management team will do something to address it. I think 'crisis' is pushing it a bit. It leaves the managment needing to strengthen the midfield, which we needed anyway. Be great if Miller is back though. He's been a massive loss.

Slattery out for the season, confirmed by club social media.

We just keep lurching from one crisis to the next.

You predict a defeat every week. Does the loss of Slattery change that ? Are the defeats going to be bigger or smaller ??

🤔 I’d be checking sources, 11 appearances which is nearly two handfuls in Ayrshire and the likes.

Can't remember what site I even looked at but they said 3 in one comprtition and 2 in another. Happy to be corrected then, and i'm going to leave out any gags about anyone being short of fingers 🙂

Amazing he hasn't worked in management since he was sacked over a year ago. He must have been waiting for our call.

I thought our forum was full of roasters, but the Aberdeen forum has someone shouting for the sacking of Robson and employing of Wayne Rooney. Every forum probably has a Yodo/Steelboy/wellfan/MJC.

Was a mistake from Gent but for Kelly and Spittal to have a go really is pot kettle and black.

I'll show a Spittal a video montage of his corners and free kicks this season then see how he likes it.  As for Kelly I wouldn't criticise anyone after his past few months.

SK should have criticised Bair also as he was slow to react after the poor clearance.  Also SK is the man that thinks Spittal is a wing back, enough said.

I am still backing SK and I have defended Spittal plenty of times but poor show from them yesterday

I don't think Kettlewell 'thinks Spittal is a wing back'. Who would you have played there yesterday, given the available players ? We only had three players on the bench yesterday with any experience. Butcher clearly wasn't fit enough to start, McGinley hasn't kicked a ball in months and Obika wouldn't really have been the ideal choice for right wing back. I don't think Spittal playing there was an experiment, more of a neccesity.

I measure Kettlewell on this season. It was KVV who saved us last season.

He was some player that KVV, kept a number of clean sheets, defended really well under pressure and not only scored, but created all his own chances.

  15. If you read this forum, our support must contain some of the worst supporters in the country 😁 If you used the info found here, Motherwell would lose 3-0 every week, they'd get relegated every year and no other team ever loses or draws after going one up.

After a 15 game winless run, winning at home against your closest opponent and drawing away with a team above you isn't bad. The fact that we werent rock bottom after that run shows that outside Celtic, Rangers and Hearts, everyone is mediocre. The run during Alexander showed the same thing. You'd actually think the other 11 teams in the league won every week judging by some of the pish talked on here.

Sure, it's gutting to lose a lead so close to the end, but how many folk of here were thinking 'game over' after they scored the opener.

Get a fucking grip and enjoy the fact that we're not in a worse postion than we are, we have a window to get rid of and bring in a couple of players and we have a 4 game run of real winables to come.
